1992 Mercedes-benz 400e W124 E420 Excellent Condition (e320 300e 300d W140) on 2040-cars
Astoria, New York, United States
Hi all- Thank you for taking the time out to look at this
Mercedes-Benz 400E (E420) for sale. The basic run down: -1992 400E -Black Exterior (two tone) -Gray perforated leather interior (real leather) -Approx 230k miles (High for some, but average for this year
and for a car that moves everyday, most W124’s can do double with no issue) -Engine and Transmission are in excellent, excellent shape -No gear slippage, goes into Reverse and Drive immediately
(under 1 second) -Gears up and downshift smoothly -Wiring harness replaced at about 120k miles -17” AMG staggered original alloys off of a CLK -Brand new Tires with less than 1k miles, all with road
hazard warranty -Euro headlights, side markers, and rear taillights (all
recently purchased) -Debadged (original badge is on hand, as well as original
wheels and tires -Full Spare and near-new tire -2 sets of keys -ABS, driver and passenger airbags -Power seats, windows, cruise control, etc. -Sony Xplod audio unit with aux and usb - Full exterior repaint recently (hood and one fender clear
coat was pealing, I decided to have whole car painted to give it a uniform,
clean look) -Rear Shocks replaced about 3k miles ago -AC evaporator replaced (over $1,600 in parts and labor—Whole
dashboard had to be removed, etc.) -AC compressor replaced -AC is ICE COLD and blows just like new -Heater workers perfect -Clean Title (on hand, I am private owner) -No accidents -All have service history both under warranty and out of -NY State inspection passed- good for at least 11 months -Have original US-spec headlights, taillights and side
lights Extremely clean car and well taken care of. I am a Mercedes
fanatic and have placed a great deal of effort and care into keeping this car
in fantastic shape. For those of you who know this body, internally known as
the W124 by Mercedes, you can rest assured this is a well-built, solid vehicle.
The 400E/E420 is the sleeper version of this body and only have a few less
horsepower than the famous 500e. Although not a collector’s model, this car is
exceptionally fast, handles great, and looks very professional (not dated
whatsoever IMO). Most W124’s sold nowadays are nowhere near the condition this
car is in, furthermore the majority are the underpowered 300e or e320 models
and almost always have issues with the air conditioning—which I can assure you
will cost you nearly $1400-1600 to fix properly. Please keep this in mind when
considering the price of this car and others listed online. Reason for selling?
Looking to get a 95-99 W140 J…If
you want to have the car for less, I can take off AMG wheels and new tires for
a deduction of $700 and leave on the original 15” inch OEM wheels. Know issues (that to me were not important enough to fix) -Rear Passenger Window does not go up or down (likely a
window regulator- easy fix) -Roof lining is slightly sagging -Moon roof is sealed shut, but can be easily fixed) -Passenger mirror wont adjust...might be a fuse (ive never checked) Please take the time to come and inspect the car thoroughly. You will not be disappointed. You may also contact me directly at 917 567 4349 (call/text) for any questions/concerns. Please Thank you again for looking and I hope to hear from all potential buyers soon! |

New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC
Sat, 02 Feb 2013Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.
Rosberg survives the Mexican mess | 2016 Mexican Grand Prix recap
Mon, Oct 31 2016Roughly ten messy laps defined the Mexican Grand Prix – five laps at the start and five at the end. Those laps included a couple of actual wrecks and a few more near wrecks that turned the entire day into chaos. To have any chance of winning the 2016 Driver's Championship, Lewis Hamilton needed to get his Mercedes-AMG Petronas across the finish line ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg. Once again we got a weekend full of vintage Hamilton, the Brit dominating the from Friday to Sunday, except for the first corner of the first lap. Pole-sitter Hamilton reached Turn 1 clearly in front of the field. But he couldn't make the corner and stay on track, so he zipped into the runoff area and over the grass, rejoining at Turn 3 still ahead of the field. The stewards didn't penalize Hamilton, one commentator's explanation being that Hamilton "was not battling another car." The non-action left car #44 to enjoy a lights-to-flag win. At that very same corner, Rosberg also availed himself of the runoff area. His infraction seemed destined to incur a penalty until replays showed that Max Verstappen in the Red Bull slid wide and bumped Rosberg, causing the German to go off track. No penalties were handed out there, either. Verstappen would return to hound Rosberg later in the race when angling for second place. Verstappen took a stab through Turn 4 on Lap 50 of the 71-lap race, but ran off the track and lost touch with the Mercedes by Lap 55. Ferrari got half of its strategy right in Mexico, putting Sebastian Vettel hard on the charge in the final stint. The German got within DRS range of Verstappen on Lap 67, with Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo a little more than a second behind Vettel. On Lap 68, Verstappen pulled the same move as Hamilton at the beginning of the race: the Dutchman ran wide through Turn 1, zoomed over the grass and rejoined the track at Turn 3, staying ahead of Vettel the whole time. With three laps remaining, the stewards chose to investigate after the race. In spite of Verstappen's own team telling he probably needed to cede position to Vettel, Verstappen stayed in front and slowed just enough to put Vettel under threat from Ricciardo. On Lap 70 Ricciardo had closed up to Vettel's gearbox. Headed for Turn 4, Vettel swung outside to take the corner. When Ricciardo moved inside to pass, Vettel moved inside to block the Aussie while both cars were in the braking zone. The Ferrari made light contact with the Red Bull, but Vettel held his position through Turn 5.
Aston or Bust? Maybach's fate to be decided next month

What will become of Maybach? That question has been rattling around the halls of Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart for some time now. But all questions will be answered, and answered soon: according to reports, the German automaker is currently evaluating prototypes and propositions for its top-end marque, and will make its decision next month.
So, what are the options? On the one hand, Daimler could kill the Maybach brand altogether. It was a notion ill conceived and even more poorly executed, taking an old platform and building a new flagship atop it. In that way, it was sort of like the Chrysler Crossfire, only far more costly to both the buyer and manufacturer. On the other hand, Daimler could opt for the long-time-coming proposition of contracting the production (and possibly much of the development) of a new generation of Maybachs to Aston Martin.
