1976 Mercedes-benz 450sl Base Convertible 2-door 4.5l on 2040-cars
Williamsport, Maryland, United States
Update : I am out of town but had a friend who is a mechancic take the car out today. He says the car ran fine but did have a small drip in the transmission pan gasket. He said the brake pedal was soft and that the car would need brake pads either front or back. These are minor though as he said the car is great for a 1976. I am selling for several grand less than I paid so it will list nor be sold for any less, well worth it . His test drive added about 12 to 15 miles to the mileage on the car. This car is in good condition for its age. The car is a 1975 and appears to have the original paint which show some hazing as if it were buffed in the past but still decent paint. Their may or may not be other small flaws I missed but known ones are very small chip in paint on passenger door. Small chip in paint on inside rear trim that is mount behind top of rear seats. Convertible top is in very good shape canvas wise, plastic side windows show some wear. I guess the window is simply from the top going up and down. I purchased this car several years ago from its California owner and have rarely drove it. I have not taken the car out on the road in the past year which is why Im selling it. Color scheme is perfect silver out and black in with black convertible top. Car comes with and extra set of factory year original steel wheels with dish hubcaps. Im selling for less than I paid because I simply have to many things including cars. Front seats are bucket with console shifter between the seat . Transmission is an automatic in this car. The beauty in this car is the fact it is original and unmolested and is still great looking. The other nice thing is many of these were odd colors such as burgundy out tan in, green out tan in this one is simply classy all the way in silver and black. Buyer is responsible for arranging pickup of car at my mom. I will be available to help load at time of pickup. If you need the car hauled I would suggest www.uship.com You may also pick up in person in Williamsport, Maryland 21795. Happy Bidding |

Aston wants to build DBX on its new platform, not Mercedes'
Mon, May 18 2015Aston Martin is proceeding with plans to launch the DBX as its first production crossover. It just can't say at this point what it will be based on. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Aston's new CEO Andy Palmer indicated that basing the DBX on a Mercedes SUV platform would not be its first choice because they "clearly sit in a very different space to the one we want to go" with the DBX. Instead, the company's first choice would be to build the crossover atop the new platform it's developing for its sports cars. "It just depends how high off the ground it could go," said Palmer. "I don't exclude the possibility of using some [Mercedes] parts, but I would say very much the primary route is our platform." The prospect of building an Aston SUV on Mercedes architecture – namely that of the GL-Class – has been on the table for some time now. The Lagonda SUV concept it showcased at the Geneva show in 2009 was based on the GL, and the two automakers have been forging a tightening alliance in the years since. The British automaker's next-generation engine is to be built by Mercedes-AMG, and it is expected to source other components from the German automaker as well. For its part, Mercedes has been taking a sportier approach with its latest crossovers, as demonstrated by the GLE Coupe that debuted before the more conventional version and the Concept GLC Coupe that previewed the GLK's replacement in Shanghai last month. Aston Martin, on the other hand, is building a new sports car platform that will underpin its next generation of luxury GTs, replacing the long-serving VH architecture that has served for decades as the basis for its entire model line. Perhaps the most surprising of ANE's report, though, is that Aston seems to be proceeding with plans to build the DBX apparently without even knowing what platform it will use.
The first trailer for Top Gear's 24th season shows a hands-free drag race
Tue, Dec 27 2016In the excitement over Amazon's new motoring show, it's important to remember that there's a certain series from the BBC that's attempting to get its mojo back for a 24th season. Yes, we're talking about Top Gear. Since Chris Evans' departure earlier this year, Top Gear news has been relatively sparse, particularly as The Grand Tour and its hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond seized headlines. But on Christmas, watchers of the series' YouTube channel caught a glimpse of the first scene from the next season. Featuring hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid in what looks like a trio of old, dilapidated cars. We're thinking TG is running a taxi comparison. There's a London black cab and a Mercedes-Benz W210 – a favorite of European cabbies – but we aren't sure where Harris' boxy wagon fits in. Did the Volvo 850 Estate ever serve as a livery vehicle? But it's the basis for this comparison that's weird, because the hosts appear to be having a no-hands drag race. The cars veer off in different directions, traveling across what looks like a snow-covered dirt lot. We're assuming hilarity ensues. And while we don't quite know what they're hoping to accomplish, we are looking forward to watching it go down. Top Gear's 24th season doesn't have an official air date, and the video ends only with a cryptic "Coming Soon." Expect to hear more in the next few months.
