Mercedes Benz 1994 E320 convertible, in pristine conditions. Purchased last year from Maroone in Pompano Beach, which received it from its sole previous owner. For years I had been looking for this model, but the mileage on most of those for sale was over 60k. This car only had 34,228 miles, and had been kept in an indoor garage by its previous owners, an elder couple of snow birds that spent the winter in sunny Florida. I replaced the hydraulic pumps ($2,700) for the top for new ones, since the previous ones where not functioning properly. Additionally, all MB model back then had wiring bundles which cracked and made false contacts, compromising the engine performance. I have just spent $1,600 replacing these with the revised, upgraded original MB bundles. The few minor flaws the car had have been meticulously repaired by a MB pro shop in Florida. The interiors are in excellent condition, no cracks or blemishes. The dashboard is also in pristine conditions. I replaced the previous radio with another original MB radio, and had an MP3 adaptor plug installed which allows playing music from an iPod or an iPhone through the speaker system. Additionally, I replaced the two speakers on the top of the dashboard with premium speakers. Of the few cars of this model available for sale in the US, this must be on the top 5% for interior and exterior condition, engine and hydraulics, and general overall performance. I have another MB E320, a station wagon, and the pick up and torque on this convertible is far superior. It drives beautifully, and is an eye catcher! I am selling it with regret, since I need the money to go to college. This car is a collector's gem. There might be others out there, but probably not as well taken care of, or loved, like this one. Ocassionally one might show up being sold by a dealer, but from my personal experience, they are packaged to look pretty in the showroom, but the minute you drive out, a whole series of un expected minor (hopefully) issues start cropping up, which is what happened to me. I have investesd over 6k dollars to bring this baby to perfect performance. There are NO surprises here.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]
Fri, 31 Jan 2014If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.
Mercedes teams with Pebble for smartwatch tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013Most automakers have realized by now that a good infotainment system is a must-have feature for many buyers, and have, as a result, invested increasing amounts of time and money developing these technologies. But some automakers are going above and beyond in-car entertainment and navigation technology by focusing on wearable technology as well.
Nissan has emerged as one such company, developing its own alternative to Google Glass and performance-oriented smartwatch. But Mercedes-Benz is also putting itself at the forefront of wearable tech - not by developing competing products to those designed by dedicated tech companies, but by working with them. The German automaker, as we recently reported, is developing its own app for Google Glass, and is now doing the same with smartwatches as well.
Set to be unveiled at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Mercedes has collaborated with Pebble Technologies to develop the Digital DriveStyle app. The system will display tell its wearer where the car is, whether the doors are locked and if it needs fuel. Inside the car it'll alert the driver to potential hazards coming up on the road, while making functions like re-routing the nav system, controlling the audio system or activating Siri that much easier.
Mercedes-Maybach GLS prototype caught testing with its big new grille
Tue, Oct 8 2019The new Mercedes-Benz GLS is a massive tech fortress on wheels, so the Maybach GLS is bound to be a massive tech castle. Last we heard from the gigantic Benz SUV was that it was going to be built at Mercedes’ Alabama plant. With a starting price expected to be around $200,000, itÂ’ll probably be the most expensive vehicle produced in the U.S. These spy shots give us an idea of what weÂ’re going to be looking at when the production SUV is finally revealed. Our first hint that this prototype is a Maybach is the grille. It looks suspiciously similar to the grille on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Concept with all the vertical slats running down the big maw. Minimal camouflage is disguising the exterior for the most part, but we imagine Mercedes is hiding any of the gaudier parts of the car itÂ’d like to save for a big reveal. The exhaust outlets sure do look a bit different than the regular GLS, but the outside is generally the same as what we see today. As for the interior, thatÂ’s where most of the magic is expected to happen. A significantly overhauled look is inevitable, with the focus on even more luxurious materials than the most expensive norm-core GLS. A rear seat that's fit for a king or two is likely, along with Maybach-exclusive tech to boot. For now, we canÂ’t see in the heavily camouflaged and taped-off windows, leaving us to wonder about the luxury within. This Mercedes-Maybach is expected to compete with other massively expensive SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga or a fully decked-out Range Rover. Everything thatÂ’s optional on the GLS should come as standard here, including the trick E-Active Body Control suspension. Look for a reveal coming in the not-so-distant future, as this prototype doesnÂ’t look terribly far from production to us.
