Up for Auction is a 1986 Mercedes 300E . The Mileage is Unknown. The odometer was replaced previously. I had this vehicle for a few years and spent about $4800 on it to get is completely reliable to give my daughter. She bought a VW bug herself and so I gave this vehicle to my business partner to give to his son. 3 years later he did not need it anymore and did not want it to sit in his garage anymore.  When I went to get it last month the battery was dead so I bought a new battery from Walmart that comes with the Walmart warranty that is good for two years I believe. It started right up and I drove it home and parked it. I do not have a need for another vehicle so I am trying to find it a good home. Also the driver door lock does not open from the outside.  I do not know what they did to it during the period of time that they had it if anything. the clear coat on the front hood is peeling.  All I can tell you is that it starts and runs. The head gasket seems to leak. It possibly needs new brakes and other things. I do not have the time to check it so I am listing it with no reserve and no warranty of any kind.  Please bid accordingly. If you need it shipped you have to arrange for the shipping since it is parked I do not have insurance on it. It starts and runs but other than that I can not tell you anything.
If you need it shipped you have to arrange for that. The vehicle is in Van Alstyne, Texas. zip 75495

The interior as you can see from the pictures is pretty clean for a vehicle of this age. as far as I know it has never been smoked in. It has been sitting for a while so it is dusty and needs cleaning. A hole is worn in the Drivers seat  bottom back as you can see from the pictures.
Vehicle this old WILL NEED WORK so please take that into account before bidding and look at the pictures.

A paypal deposit of $500 is required at the auction end and the balance within 2 days.

Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is Affalterbach's first big leap into the little pond

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

The recent history of AMG is turning out amped-up versions of Mercedes-Benz offerings that would hardly ever be mistaken for their sedate counterparts. Sure, you'd need to pay attention to pick a G-Class from the G63 AMG, but dual side-pipes are a quick giveaway. The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is not only a new era in Affalterbach's attention on smaller cars, it is probably also the most subtle transformation we can think of in the line-up.
Low and chunky enough in standard guise to make a sporting impression, the aesthetic makeover is confined to black trim around the lower rim of the hatch, black wheels with red brake calipers and a single, rectangular exhaust tip on either side of the diffuser. It's easier to make a positive ID inside, where the flat-bottomed steering wheel, red seatbelts and red-rimmed details say, "You know what I am..."
If the car is running, though, it won't take but a second. The 2.0-liter turbo spitting 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet will grumble through a sport exhaust at idle, and bellow through the same on it's way to a 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds. And if you need something that looks a little harder - and you want those quad pipes - then the A45 AMG Edition 1 is the treasure you seek. There's a press release below for all the info you'll need until the hot hatch goes on sale in Germany later this year, and photos for the rest of us while we wait to find out if we'll get a chance to buy it.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Mercedes teams with Pebble for smartwatch tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

Most automakers have realized by now that a good infotainment system is a must-have feature for many buyers, and have, as a result, invested increasing amounts of time and money developing these technologies. But some automakers are going above and beyond in-car entertainment and navigation technology by focusing on wearable technology as well.
Nissan has emerged as one such company, developing its own alternative to Google Glass and performance-oriented smartwatch. But Mercedes-Benz is also putting itself at the forefront of wearable tech - not by developing competing products to those designed by dedicated tech companies, but by working with them. The German automaker, as we recently reported, is developing its own app for Google Glass, and is now doing the same with smartwatches as well.
Set to be unveiled at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Mercedes has collaborated with Pebble Technologies to develop the Digital DriveStyle app. The system will display tell its wearer where the car is, whether the doors are locked and if it needs fuel. Inside the car it'll alert the driver to potential hazards coming up on the road, while making functions like re-routing the nav system, controlling the audio system or activating Siri that much easier.
