So if you are looking at this vehicle, then you are presumably a fan of W126 Mercs and you understand the rarity of this particular vehicle. This was the last year of production for the finest S-Class ever built and out of the over 800,000 produced, just over 2,000 were 350SD models. I searched everywhere to find one of these and she is beautiful. I apologize that the pictures don't do her justice but here is the description and please contact me if you have ANY questions at all. The interior of this car is what sold me. Despite having 136k miles on her, which as you are aware is nothing for this vehicle, the interior is simply incredible. Everything works except for the radio as I need to call Mercedes for the reset code. We pulled the radio to get the serial code off the back so we should be good to go. There are no lights on whatsover and all of the windows, sunroof, a/c, power antenae, etc. work great. You can tell that this car has spent it's life inside as the gauge (speedo, etc) needles are bright and orange as they should be. So many are badly sun faded. The wood is simply excellent with only a hairline crack in the gear shift surround in the typical place these crack. I wouldn't replace it as its too nice and keeps the car authentic. The car starts and drives amazing. I have a new S350 Bluetech and I swear this car cruises just as nice. I am not aware of any mechanical defects except that she does drip some oil which is not unusual for these old diesels. The exterior is in very good condition but not a perfect 10. The hood has some slight oxidation but should buff out fine with a professional wax. There are a few door dings with the most major being in the driver door which is a crease but popable. I included a picture of the most major exterior issue which is a scratch on the rear bumper. There are a the usual scratches and dings here and there but anyone who sees the car is amazed at its condition being 22 years old. If you are local, I highly encourage you to come see it. I am selling the vehicle as I am now paying to store her in a heated warehouse and I only get to drive her every few weeks for a spin around the block just to warm her up and keep her fresh. She stays covered and on a battery tender when in storage. Again, I have been probably overly critical of the condition of this vehicle, but ask any questions you have. Happy to take more photos if need be.

One year since accident, most of Schumacher's sponsors still on board
Mon, Dec 29 2014It's been almost exactly a year now since Michael Schumacher suffered massive head trauma in a catastrophic skiing accident in Switzerland, and while details on his recovery have remained few and far between, we're sure his progress has been anything but easy. Meanwhile his sponsors have faced a difficult decision of their own: to continue supporting him financially despite getting nothing tangible in return, or cancel their contracts and suffer the blow to their public image as a result. According to Schumacher's longtime manager Sabine Kehm in speaking to news outlets like Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport, most of the imperiled former F1 driver's personal sponsors have remained by his side. The encouraging news updates on what we reported back in August, that Mercedes-Benz and German investment firm Deutsche Vermogensberatung AG were sticking with the champ through the hard times. Other sponsors, including helmet manufacturer Schuberth and watchmaker Audemars Piguet, are also believed to still be on board. Not all of Schumi's sponsors have stuck around, though. German bottled water brand Rosbacher reportedly broke off its contract with Schumacher back in July. And more recent reports confirm that Gaydoul Group fashion labels Navyboot and Jet Set canceled their sponsorship deal earlier this month. These and other contracts made Schumacher one of the world's highest paid sports figures and the first billionaire athlete in the world. Even in retirement, he was still making more than most active F1 drivers. While we don't know just how much he's pulling in during his recovery, here's hoping that his continued sponsors can find a way to make their support worthwhile – and that the champ makes a full recovery in the near future.
Man makes record-setting drive across the US in 28 hours, 50 minutes
Fri, 01 Nov 2013Records, as the say, are made to be broken. Whether that's cramming the most hot dogs down your gullet, running a faster mile, or yes, driving across the United States, odds are that there's someone out there wants to eat more, run faster or drive harder. Speaking of that last example, the record for driving from a set location on the east coast, in particular the Red Ball Garage in Manhattan to the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA, has been one that has fascinated gearheads since a guy named Cannonball Baker made the trek from New York to LA in 53 hours, 30 minutes, in 1933.
The competition saw its glory days when Car and Driver's Brock Yates came up with the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash (more affectionately known as the Cannonball Run), although the record was most recently set by Alex Roy and his 32-hour, seven-minute trek behind the wheel of a BMW M5 in 2006. Now, there's a new champion, who made the trip from east to west in a scarcely imaginable 28 hours and 50 minutes, behind the wheel of a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG. That's works out to an average speed of 98 miles per hour over the course of 2,813.7 miles.
His name is Ed Bolian, and Jalopnik has a writeup of the epic voyage that details everything from the history of the Cannonball Run to Bolian's preparation and trouble finding co-drivers, to the trip itself. It is well worth a read.
2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 still lights our fire
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The current Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG may be in the autumn of its years, but it's still one of our very favorite sport sedans. Ever. Yes, its paddle-shift transmission may not always follow orders, but with stupendous levels of thrust from its charismatic naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, ebullient rear-wheel-drive dynamics and that noise, we frankly don't care that it's getting on a bit.
As a sendoff of sorts for the current generation, Mercedes-Benz has just introduced a new Edition 507 model at the Geneva Motor Show, with 507 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque - an increase of 56 horses over the standard car. Mercedes credits the substitution of low-mass internals from the SLS AMG gullwing for the power bump, a tactic shared with the AMG Development Package upgrade that has been subsumed by this Edition 507. 0-60 is quoted at 4.1 seconds and top speed at 174 mph.
The Edition 507 borrows its aluminum hood from the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, along with spidery new 19-inch wheels in either titanium gray finish or matte black with shiny rim flanges. As seen on our gallery car above, a sports striping package is also featured, as are glossy black grille, daytime running lamps, spoiler and mirror caps.
