They say every car has a story....if this is true, this one would be made into an action packed movie!

The Benz you see pictured started its life with its originally owner being the one and only Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys! There are 2 stories regarding the purchase, I don't know which one is the truth.
1. Emmitt himself purchased the car when he signed with Dallas as his first major purchase.
2. The car was given to him, for being rookie of the year, his first year in the NFL.

I have all the owners manuals, that contain his name, address and phone number, these items will of course go with the sale.
There is also a dash plaque containing his name. This will go with the sale as well.

Emmitt drove the car for a number of years, I have a copy of a registration with his name dating back to 1996.

I've googled Emmitt Smith Mercedes, and found several articles, about this car. Most recent his wife mentioned it on her show, the D. Her show is out of Dallas Texas. She was interviewing, two gentlemen who flip cars from Dallas Texas, and they found her husbands Benz. These gentlemen have a show on the Discovery Channel (not sure if I can mention the name) They have mentioned that the car may be aired on their show. This is where I came in. I bought the car from them and I will say there were several cameras present. To be continued.......

Now onto the car.....
I drove the car around Dallas while I was there and it performed as expected. It runs and drives great, but of course because of its age, it is not perfect.
The only mechanical, electrical issue I noticed was most of the guages dont work. (Hence why the car will be sold TMU, mileage exempt)If you google this its a common problem, that can be addressed by replacing the instrument panel with a used one. Not too expensive.
Mostly what Ive noticed is some cosmetic issues. The car has definitely had a repaint at once in its life. The front bumper is missing the fog lights. The drivers seat has been redone at one time, but not by the nice lady on the show (hint hint). The passenger seat has tears on the seams.

The hardtop is currently on the car and I have not removed it to see what kind of shape the soft top is in.
The Benz has an aftermarket McIntosh CD player (when is the last time youve seen one of these?) It also has 6x9 speakers in the rear deck in a custom enclosure.

Overall this is a great driver, with a great story behind it and another story yet to be aired (hint hint). Anyone can have a signed jersey....how many people can say they have the car that one of the best players of all time owned? Quite the conversation starter!

I live in Charlotte, NC...but the car is still in Dallas Texas sitting comfortably inside a famous garage which has been shown many times on the Discovery Channel. Once again keep in mind when shipping or picking the car up, it is in DALLAS TEXAS on Reeder Road.

I've sold many cars on EBAY and maintain a 100% feedback as both buyer and seller. Though this sale is a little bit different as I do not live in Dallas Texas, I will try and accommodate the buyer anyway I can.

Mercedes CLA a sub-$30k car no more

Fri, Dec 12 2014

To be honest, the sub-$30,000 Mercedes-Benz CLA was more a theoretical than a real thing. Squeaking in at $100 below that magical threshold, not counting a $925 destination charge, snagging a CLA anywhere near $30k meant exercising extreme self-control with the options catalog. Perhaps with that thinking in mind, Mercedes is set to effectively scrap the entire idea, with Cars Direct claiming the price on a new CLA is set to increase by about five percent, to $31,500. Adding 4Matic all-wheel drive brings the starting price to $33,500. Even the hot CLA45 AMG is getting a price bump, from $47,450 to $48,500. Frankly, it's impossible to miss where Mercedes is coming from with this move, if it actually happens. The CLA has been one of 2014's unmitigated success stories, selling so well that Mercedes has struggled to keep up with demand. Considering that, a modest price hike is to be expected.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.
