After driving my 1983 MB wagon and ultimately selling it ,I wanted to upgrade, something diesel ,for quite a while a I looked for the 86-87 sdl or 1987 300d with the 603,it took me a long time to find the black ext black int,I found a lot of 2 tone black silver cars.
Most had higher miles and a ton of rust, this car has one rust spot on passenger front fender{see pic},it should be an easy job for a bodyman.
This car is in no way as clean as the sdl with 55k miles for 16 grand, this car has 130 k and niks, paint chips, scuffs, ect associated with cars over 100 k miles, that said she still is nice cleans up well and is not close IMHO to a paint job.Pics coming
The engine retains its original trap oxidizer and probably the original head,I didnt look for the numbers yet, runs super strong ,2000 rpms at 65,I read somewhere that it was the fastest diesel in 1987 at 126mph,dont quote me,google it im probably close.
I have a slip for 1100 for new rear clipers and brake job,may have slip on muffler and pipes. And she has 4 new tires.
The A/C needs a charge and the passenger power window has an issue,I have another motor for it,may be resolved by the end of the sale.
I love how comfortable these cars are,and the German styling, but given the opportunity I would trade in a heartbeat for a 1968 gto,of equal value, but I dont see that happening and with buisiness so slow its up for sale.
Im driving my winter car{camry}and will probably regret selling a black black 300d with 130 k miles, but somethings gotta give.
You may know about the durability of these motors with some reacing 500k miles,no valve adjustment lifters, and also the head and cooling issues,3rd world countries are gobbling these up,I THINK the 86-87 603 was discontinued because of emmisions.
The interior is super nice, its black will get some good pics later in the week, any ? email me or call 508-331-0701 sure I have a buy it now in my head, but when someone hits the button and doesnt follow thru ,it seems im the one to end up with the repercussions.
For sale locally, the auction can close at any time, mileage will go up,thats it for now.

Geely chairman is now the single biggest investor in Daimler
Fri, Feb 23 2018Li Shufu, the chairman and main owner of Chinese carmaker Geely, has built a stake of 9.69 percent in Daimler AG, the German carmaker said in a regulatory filing on Friday. The stake, worth nearly $9 billion at the current valuation for Daimler shares, makes Li the biggest single shareholder in the maker of Mercedes-Benz cars, trucks and vans headquartered in the German city of Stuttgart. A Daimler spokesman called the stake purchase a private investment by Li. "We are delighted, with Li Shufu, to have won over another long-term investor who is convinced of Daimler's innovative prowess, strategy and future potential," the spokesman said in response to a request for comment. "Daimler knows and respects Li Shufu as a Chinese entrepreneur of particular competence and forward thinking." Li's stake purchase makes him the top shareholder in Daimler ahead of the Kuwait Investment Authority, which owned 6.8 percent as of Sept. 30, according to Thomson Reuters data. Earlier this month, the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported that the Chinese industry giant was seeking to become Daimler's biggest shareholder, likely exceeding the 6.8-percent stake of the Kuwait Investment Authority. The paper said Daimler had reportedly turned down Geely's $4.5 billion offer for a 5-percent stake via a discounted share placement, saying that Geely could buy shares in the open market. Institutional investors currently own 70.7 percent of Daimler, and the company already has strong ties to Chinese automakers BAIC and BYD. Bild am Sonntag said the move was intended as a strategic alliance against Apple, Google and Amazon on autonomous and connected cars. And Reuters reported that Daimler wants to have bespoke "robo taxis" on the road quicker than Google's Waymo, and views Geely as a strong partner for that. Geely conversely is interested in Daimler's electric car battery technology, and sources quoted by the German paper say there are plans to establish joint electric car manufacturing in Wuhan, China, to meet China's smog-reducing quotas. Geely is developing the Lynk & Co. brand of electric and hybrid cars. Geely owns Volvo, which has enjoyed a renaissance under the arrangement, as well as the maker of London's black cabs. In December, it bought a stake in AB Volvo, the maker of Volvo trucks.
Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car
Fri, 31 May 2013In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.
2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA order guide leaked
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The dealer order guide for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA has made its way online courtesy of the crew at CLAForums.com, and not only does it shed light on the ways buyers will be able to configure the entry-level sedan, it talks specific option pricing. Shoppers will be able to select between the CLA250 and CLA250 4Matic, and the option sheet should offer a number of packages to suit buyer tastes, including a sport package with tweaked fascias and unique wheels. Bi-xenon headlamps and 18-inch alloys may also be had as well as a panoramic sunroof and a collision avoidance system. The CLA will be available with a number of active safety systems on board, including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, park assist and blind spot assist, to name a few.
The new sedan comes in 10 colors, including a very dashing purple Mecedes-Benz calls Northern Lights Violet, and there are a total of four interior trim finishes. The automaker hasn't released final pricing of all models just as of yet - we do know from Mercedes' Kate Upton Super Bowl ad that the car will start at $29,900 - but you can check out individual option and package pricing in the gallery. You can also find more information over at CLAForums.com.
