1985 Mercedes 300d Turbo Diesel---runs excellent- CALIFORNIA BLUE PLATES-no smog test neede ever in california

130,000 miles. Clean Title. Cold A/C, Hot Heater, Sunroof, original Becker Radio/Cassette, Power Antenna (goes up automatically when radio turns on), Power Windows, Locks, Original First Aid Kit, Original Becker Cassette Cleaner that came with car in 1985.

Vehicle is running perfect, I just had the oil changed, fuel filters changed, fuel filter in tank cleaned, banjo bolt and tubing cleaned, glow plugs changed, and just detailed. Paint 9.8/10, Interior 9/10 (one very small tear on driver seat back. I had it sewed and glued so it wont get larger and isn't an eyesore) I have had new padding put in the seats. Runs perfect, and i get 25-30mpg. Brakes are newer, Oil changes have been done regularly.

I purchased this from a gentleman in San Diego (he was originally from France) who told me the car has been in the family since new, and purchased in Southern California. Below is the link for the vin report and it shows no records (typical for a one owner older car, and shows no negative information such as accidents).

This is a great car- mercedes people claim this is the best chassis built (w123), best motor (617) and best year (last year for the w123)

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

    Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.

Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts

    Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.

Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

    Tue, 20 Nov 2012

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
