Mercedes only built 8007 of the gorgeous 123 series coupes with the diesel engine and a lot less with the turbo version . This wonderful car was finished in Champagne ( MB color code 473 ) with palomino color MB-tex interior . It is a very elegant color combination and i do get compliments on it every time i drive it . The body and the paint are in wonderful condition . There are no dings , dents or scratches and the paint still shines . The interior is also still very well preserved , as the many pictures will show . The seats are in good condition , the carpets are like new and the headliner and door panels are clean . The wood is also in great shape . This car really looks great and many people can not believe , that it is almost 30 years old . But the best thing about it is the way it drives . It has always been maintained well and it shows . Besides regular maintenance it also received a air-filter upgrade and is much quicker as a result of it . You can drive it at 85-90 miles per hour all day long and still get 27 miles per gallon of diesel . This coupe has the lines and the sturdy build of a classic Mercedes while featuring all the amenities of a much more modern car . It comes with power windows, power sunroof, power door locks, power mirror , cruise control and AC . The original radio has been upgraded to a newer model featuring a CD player . I still have the original radio as well .  This is one of the few classic cars you can drive every day and not think twice about it . These cars are known to go for over 500k miles with the right maintenance . There are several Mercedes diesel of this era on Ebay right now with over 400k miles and still driving well . So with only 140k miles , this car is barely broken in .  This engine is also the perfect candidate for Bio diesel conversion , where you can drive on vegetable oil or free waste oil from restaurants . This 300CD always only drove on regular diesel , but i was told , it would be a easy conversion .  With prices on clean 123 series Mercedes rising over the last few years and the low miles , this could also be a very good and practical long term investment .  If you have any questions or would like to see this 300CD , please send me an email and i will get back to you quickly . I would prefer to sell this car to somebody locally , who could actually come out and see it / test drive it . But i would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements or an airport pick up for the winning bidder . Please have your funding in order , ask all questions and do all your " due diligence " BEFORE placing a bid . This is a wonderful , great running 30 year old automobile and it will be sold "as is " , " where is " and without a warranty . The winning bidder should not be disappointed . I did upload many more pictures and they can describe this car much better than i can . Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck !!

Porsche tops JD Power APEAL study for 12th time

Wed, Jul 27 2016

JD Power's 2016 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study hasn't changed much this time around with Porsche coming in at No.1 for the 12th consecutive year, while BMW was close behind in second. Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz tied for third with Land Rover, Lexus, and Lincoln tied for No.5. The APEAL Study, according to JD Power, measures owners' level of excitement and emotional attachment across 77 parameters. Brands and cars are rated on a 1,000-point scale. The study found that new cars with modern safety features including low speed collision avoidance and blind spot monitoring have higher APEAL scores than vehicles without the features. The overall industry score increased from 798 to 801, which JD Power claims was helped by the launch of a variety of new vehicles. This year, 22 out of 30 new or redesigned cars received a higher score than the vehicle's respective segment average. Porsche is once again at the top of the list as the automaker's score increased by three points to 877. BMW outscored Jaguar to take second place with a score of 859, while the British automaker dropped three points from last year with 852 points. Volkswagen overtook Mini to become the top-ranked non-premium brand with 809 points, while the latter automaker trailed behind by one point. At the end of the scale, Smart came in at the very bottom for the second year in a row with a score of 745 points, which represents an increase of 62 points over last year. Fiat's score increased by six points to 755, but still confined the automaker to second-to-worst place for a consecutive year. Mitsubishi's score increased to 770, up from 755, to become the fourth-worst brand, while Jeep fell to third-worst with a decrease in seven points to 756. General Motors received six segment-level awards, followed by Hyundai with five, and BMW and VW earning four apiece. Surprise segment victories include the Chevrolet Camaro, which outscored the Dodge Challenger, and the Lexus RC which ranked above the BMW 4 and 3 Series. For more information on how the automakers ranked, check out the official release on the 2016 APEAL Study below or visit JD Power's website to analyze the graphs. New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."

Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada

Sat, May 9 2015

Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
