DESCRIPTION

Purchased:
Purchased new in Germany in 1982 by my father (So some of the abbreviations on the dashboard and dials are in German). Manuals and paperwork included. It was then handed down to me.

Exterior:
This classic Mercedes Benz 300D is powered by a 3.0 liter 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine. The paint is in fair condition with some imperfections (The clear coat is coming of in some areas. There is a small scrape on the passenger side doors) and scratches (30 years of wear and tear) with no rust on the body. It is painted in a Pastel Beige. Accented with a silver trim (Two pieces are missing. One on the driver side door that has dislodged but I still have. And one small piece located behind the rear door that has been lost altogether. Both of witch can be seen in the pictures). And this car has the original Mercedes Benz wheels that display the Mercedes 3 pointed star. Please take time to review all the photos and feel free to ask all the questions you like.
The car is in relatively good condition but has some issues that need to be addressed. And could be a collectable to someone who sees the true value in this rare and desirable classic Mercedes
Benz 300D.

Interior:
The interior is in original condition. The driver and passenger seat are in fair condition(The drivers seat has a broken spring as well as a hole in the middle. The passengers seat has a crack.), however the rear seats are crack at the top and could use some re-upholstering in order to bring it back to its full original glory. The dash is cracked and some of the wood trim is dislodged but the pieces are still on hand and can be reinstalled. One of the wood panels between the seats could be refinished. The headliner is in excellent condition. It is all original with a classic Palomino interior tailored with quality leather that makes driving this car an experience in luxury.

Mechanical:
This Mercedes Benz 300D is an exceptionally desirable car for many reasons. Along with being in a stunning un-molested (Never converted to bio diesel) all original state, this Mercedes is the rare 3.0 Liter 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine giving it unparalleled fuel mileage of its time, and even now it is respectable at 30 mpg combined making this car both visually appealing and desirable for those who enjoy great fuel mileage.  This car currently has 188,507 miles. The car has some difficulty with cold starts(Probably need the glow plugs replaced). It has a small oil leak. There is a problem with the vacuum system so the power locks don't operate properly however the windows still operate properly. The air conditioning system was replaced about 5 years ago but has recently stopped functioning. It has new breaks (Front and back). It has a new battery. The tires are fairly new and have 90-95% of the tread. 2 full-size spares with rims are included. However we are not mechanics.  This vehicle, despite its few flaws has a reputation for reliability, with these cars expected to last over 300,000 miles.

Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is the luxury car for the discerning dictator

Fri, Mar 16 2018

For decades, Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach cars have been the ride of choice for leaders across the globe, presidents, ambassadors, dictators and despots alike. The Pullman model — a long-wheelbase six-seat variant — has been particularly popular with this select clientele. This week, the German automaker announced the latest version of the car, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman S650. Essentially, this is a stretched version of the V12-powered Maybach with two rear-facing seats just behind the front row. Mercedes is calling this vis-a-vis seating. There's also a partitioning glass between the front seats and the rear cabin. This is of course to help prevent the chauffeur from learning and spilling any state secrets or plans for plans for secret moon bases. New for this model is a front-facing camera for rear-seat passengers. This allows occupants to watch for any oncoming obstacles, barricades or road blocks. Visually, there's no mistaking the Pullman for another Maybach or really anything else on the road. The car is 21.3-feet long, 4.5-feet longer than the standard Maybach or roughly the size of two and a half Smart Fortwo placed bumper-to-bumper. The requisite 20-inch 10-hole wheels are present and the standard pinstripe Maybach grille has been updated with a slightly new design. The car only comes in S650 trim, meaning it's powered by a 630 horsepower 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12. As expected, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman isn't cheap. Orders have started, but be prepared to shell out at least $615,000 before adding any custom touches. Paul di Resta returns to DTM with Mercedes

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Some drivers manage to make the transition from one form of motor racing into another, and some run into trouble. Take Paul di Resta, for example. The promising young Scottish driver dominated Formula 3 racing in Europe in 2006, then moved over to Germany's hugely competitive DTM touring car series where he finished second in 2008, third in 2009 and first in 2010. But things didn't go as smoothly for Paul - cousin to retired Indy champion Dario Franchitti - when he moved in to Formula One with the Force India team.
In three years on the grid, he failed to score a single podium finish. Little surprise, then, that Force India opted not to renew his contract for this season. Left without a ride, di Resta is now going back to DTM with longtime supporter Mercedes-Benz, testing the new C-Class touring car today in Portugal. It's good news for Mercedes, which is celebrating 120 years in motor racing this season and, with 2005 champion Gary Paffett also on board, can now count two former champions on its DTM roster.
We wouldn't count Paul out of F1 for good, though. When he won the DTM title four years ago, he was also moonlighting as Force India's test driver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him pull similar double-duty with the Mercedes F1 team (or another Benz-powered outfit) this year before spring-boarding back into grand prix racing in the future. At 27 years old, he may not have been the youngest driver on the grid this year, but he's still got a good few years ahead of him.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
