1981 Mercedes 300SD Turbocharged
This 81 Mercedes 300 SD Turbo (Diesel) is off the famous W126 platform. These were incredibly popular cars that dominated the luxury market with wait lists surpassing a year in the 1980's. These are referenced as the ''go forever'' cars. The 3.0 liter inline 5 cylinder diesel that this vehicle possesses is considered by Hagerty to be one of the most reliable engines ever built on any vehicle. Many are still on the road today worldwide. Many environmentalists seek these engines due to the ease of conversion to running them on vegetable oil and other biodiesel fuels.
With a White Body, this classic has been very well preserved with a near perfect body. There are several small scratches and some crazing of the paint, yet the body panels and alignment are remarkably straight. There is a clip missing on one of the plastic rock guards but this does not affect the body. There is only one area that has a small dent which is not obvious. The Interior is the Dark Blue trim which has some wear and tear, but very useful for a daily driver. One headlight intermittently works and should be replaced. There is also a slow drain on the battery and after several weeks of non-operation needs a charge. The Odometer recently stopped working listing 238k miles. Window tinting is in poor condition and there is also the usual wear to the instrument cluster, radio, buttons and other operational buttons. These buttons are recommended to be replaced and are readily available.
All suspension pieces have been replaced and a lot of work has been done to this car mechanically. Transmission has been replaced about 10k miles ago. Exhaust system has been replaced with factory parts. There are a few issues mechanically and this is in no way a perfect car. This is a vehicle with a restoration starting from the bottom up. Once the drive line was completed the cosmetics were next on the list. I have tried to describe this car as best as possible yet it is best to be seen in person.
Please note that the picture showing the headlights has water spots on the chrome, the chrome is in perfect condition.

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer
Mon, 28 Jan 2013Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.
8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015
Mon, Jan 5 2015Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.
