Model year 1980 (1979 build) 300SD. I have had the car for 5 years and put over 40,000 very reliable miles on it, it currently has 237,000 miles. It is a blue plate CA car. I am the second private owner (it was owned by a Palisades man whose widow left the car to German Auto Technik in Santa Monica who used the car as a customer delivery car - I bought it from Guntram (the owner of Auto Technik) when they closed down, they serviced my Porsche. The car is a very good driver and looks nice and unlike of other SD's is not some poor old sod on its last legs after years of neglect (trying to be honest vs. a huckster). I have used it for long drives and short commutes. It was just serviced with new brake fluid, coolant, air filter, oil and filter. In the last 30,000 miles I have had the following done: new climate control system (blows cold and acts as true climate control, i.e. it follows the temp you set), new a/c compressor, four new Bilstein shock absorbers, all new glow plugs, new belts, new battery, new water pump, new vacuum pump, new coil (the diesel equivalent), rebuilt and resealed differential, new brakes, new windscreen, and much more. I have all the bills for the work I have had done (totaling $12,141.00). I have all the extra keys, tool kit and the books. Issues: drivers seat is worn but not torn, cruise control is iffy, small vacuum leak that means sometimes one door will not lock right away and after starting need about 10 seconds for doors locks to come up, some very faint light paint blemishes. Always garaged. I live on the westside of LA.
I like the car and am not needing to sell just interested in getting something different. Will consider this as partial trade (very small :->) for SL 230/250/280 or BMW 2002 or Volvo 1800 or Alfa Romeo GTV. If I sell it I will donate money to animal charities I support. Thank you.

E.U. executive conditionally approves Daimler, BMW car-sharing deal

    Wed, Nov 7 2018

BRUSSELS — The European Union's competition authority said on Wednesday it had approved the plan of German luxury carmakers Daimler and BMW to combine their car-sharing businesses, subject to conditions. Under the deal, which includes car-sharing units Car2Go and DriveNow as well as ride-hailing, parking and charging services, Daimler and BMW will each hold 50 percent stakes in a joint venture. They have offered concessions to address E.U. antitrust concerns over the deal they hope would let them better compete with U.S. rival Uber and China's Didi Chuxing. The European Commission has found the deal would raise competition concerns for free-floating car sharing services in Berlin, Cologne, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna. It said Daimler and BMW agreed to a remedy package in the six cities. "The commitments thus fully address the Commission's concerns as they will reduce the barriers to entry for competing free-floating car sharing providers," the Commission said in a statement. "Therefore the Commission concluded that the proposed transaction, as modified by the commitments, would no longer raise competition concerns. The Commission's decision is conditional upon full compliance with the commitments." Reporting by Gabriela Baczynska and Philip Blenkinsop. Related Video:

Recharge Wrap-up: Daimler spending big for fuel cells, Ford Go!Drive experiment advances

    Fri, Mar 20 2015

Ford's Go!Drive experiment is entering its beta phase in London. The project, which is one of the automaker's global smart mobility experiments, uses a mobile app for on-demand carsharing of Ford Focus Electric and Ford Fiesta vehicles. The beta phase involves increasing the number of available vehicles from 20 to 50, and collecting new data from users. The program offers one-way rentals and guaranteed parking, with no membership fees and a cost of 26 cents per minute. Ford hopes to get 2,000 drivers involved in the program. The company expects cost savings "in the range of hundreds of millions of euros until 2020," while maintaining its workforce of 18,700 employees and adding 150 vocational training positions. The upgrades will allow the plant to become a center for building more efficient engines, hybrid powertrains and fuel cell systems. "Alternative drive systems are an important element of our future mobility," says Mercedes-Benz's Markus Schafer. "Their share of automotive production is set to steadily rise over the next few years, complementing our highly efficient engines within the portfolio. This is what we have laid the groundwork for today." Read more at Reuters, or in the press release below. The Department of Energy is providing $20 million in funding for the development of more efficient high speed industrial motors and drives. Ditching old motors and gearboxes for ones that use integrated power electronics could help decrease the energy consumption of the industrial sector, which currently uses more than 25 percent of the electricity generated in the US. The projects being funded will reduce losses and decrease the size of drive systems used in industries like petroleum refining and natural gas, which could affect the lifecycle efficiency of transportation fuels.
