1979 Mercedes-benz 300td Base Wagon 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
*** No Reserve *** For sale is a blue 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Estate wagon with no accidents and all original expect stereo. This year was the first to be imported into the United States and was met with widespread acclaim. The 300TD Estate model has been hailed for its timeless design and meticulous attention to detail. The bulletproof 3.0-liter diesel engine is widely believed to be one of the most reliable engines ever built and it purrs with an intoxicating tone. This particular Benz is in perfect working order and is a prime testament to the legendary build quality attributed to this model. The blue paint is original and has developed a beautiful patina over the years. This vehicle has spent most of its life in San Antonio, Texas, a climate that has been very forgiving on the exterior, which has no obvious rust. The interior is upholstered with Mercedes’ proprietary MB-Tex material in a cream color and has no tears or any apparent discoloration. I, along with the previous owners, have meticulously maintained a complete list of all maintenance-related receipts. I recently had a diehard Benz mechanic thoroughly inspect and fine-tune the car. The motor mounts and rear exhaust hangers were both replaced. Additionally, the steering box and engine speed idle were both adjusted. Its grace and performance belie its age and it feels equipped to achieve the million-mile mark. It tackles open freeways and sleepy suburbs with equal ease. Ignition is immediate and healthy -- even in the frigid winters of Utah -- thanks to the block heater. The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts between gears effortlessly. All gauges are fully functional with the exception of the clock (which works periodically). Additionally, all electrical functions (headlights, brights, fog lights, park lights, turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, and windshield wipers) are in perfect working order. The disk brakes appear to be recently replaced. The suspension feels nice and tight. Recent Work: New Yokohama Avid Touring tires, Fresh oil change, New air filter, New fuel filters, Runs and drives excellent, Updated glow plugs, New motor mounts, New rear exhaust hangers and new battery. Please be aware of the following: Not a turbo, does not have a 3rd row seat and only diesel fuel has been used. There is no visible rust under the vehicle. If you’d like to see any additional photos that are not shown here (or if you have any additional questions), don’t hesitate to send me a message and I’ll be happy to accommodate. Happy bidding! |

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer
Mon, 28 Jan 2013Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.
Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class
Mon, 18 Mar 2013
The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.
The Scaldarsi Emperor I is a Mercedes-Maybach S600 taken to 11 on the bad-taste scale
Thu, Aug 18 2016The custom car world is filled with vehicles designed by people that don't know when to quit. The Scaldarsi Emperor I, shown here in all its awful rose-gold glory, appears to have been designed by an enthusiast of the KFC Double Down. It's a hideous creation and we can't let it pass without saying so. We also can't look away. Scaldarsi's so-called "artists" have thoroughly reworked what was a perfectly wonderful Mercedes-Maybach S600. In addition to the 24-karat rose gold accents, the company has crafted a new front fascia and modified the side and rear treatments. Inside, the general S600 shape remains, but new leather and wood cover nearly every surface. Your insane imagination will not be tamed, as there are 24 colors for the leather, 24 types of animal hides, 78 types of wood, and 16 exterior body colors available. The result, at least in the publicity shots, is a mix of awkward textures and seats that look like a pile of colorful marshmallows. Those interested in purchasing an Emperor I can option custom-engraved champagne glasses, matching tote bags, and even an Emperor Edition Rolex watch. If the standard key fob is too common for your taste, they'll make you one custom. Watch out for that Scaldarsi logo, though – it looks mean enough to rip through your pocket and take a chunk out of your leg. We will give Scaldarsi credit for wisely letting Brabus handle the power. The Emperor I uses the 6.3-liter twin-turbocharged V12 from the Brabus Rocket 900. This 888-horsepower monster is a tuned version of the V12 AMG uses in the S65, SL65, and G65. The Emperor I has an estimated 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds, which is quick enough to leave stoplights before anyone recognizes you behind the wheel. Scaldarsi is asking a mere $1.5 million for each of 10 examples being created. If you miss out on the Emperor I or are some kind of twisted completist that needs one of each, this just the first in a series of customs the company will offer. Next up is the Emperor II (a Mercedes-AMG S65 Coupe), which will be followed by the Emperor III (Bentley Bentayga), Emperor IV (Mercedes-AMG G65), and Emperor V (Bugatti Chiron). Lord help us all.
