1979 Mercedes 300TD wagon

Daily driver, has been a good reliable vehicle for me, i purchased it from the original owner. This vehicle was purchased in L.A. and spend most of its life their and about the past 5 years it has been here in New Mexico.
I selling it because i am buying a new vehicle and do not have extra garage space for two vehicles.

Exterior
The exterior is in very good condition. The paint is in good condition, their are a couple small chips that i have taken pictures of, the car is rust free. Their are couple small scratches in the left rear corner that i have also taken pictures of.

Interior

The interior is also in very good condition. The biggest imperfect is the cracks in the dash, other then that the only other flaw is a small piece of carpet in the rear floor well on the passenger side has lost its adhesive and peeled off (see picture). Other then that the interior is extremely clean.

Engine & drivetrain

The engine is in good condition, oil has been changed regularly, it does not burn or leak oil, i have recently had a mercedes mechanic give the car a valve job. The transmission is also in great condition, shifts smoothly, and has been well maintained, does not leak fluid.

What does not work

Their is no a/c unit in this car, i bought it that way, the power locks do not work i suppose its a vacuum leak, heater does not work, and their is some play in the steering wheel and it does leak a slight amount of power steering fluid, odometer stopped working about four months ago.

I am happy to answer any questions you have about this car either by email or phone.

Their is NO warranty included with this vehicle and all sales are final so please contact me if you need further clarification about anything.

This is good clean Mercedes it has been well maintained by the mercedes dealership and a local specialty mercedes mechanic. I will include all the receipts i have for myself and the previous owner which total more then 10 thousand dollars.

Reserve its set at $4600.

Best of luck!

Firing of M-B boss upheld

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.

Five reasons to love, or hate, the culture of German cars

Thu, Mar 5 2015

A few months back, we took a 500-foot view of the culture of American cars, dissecting prides and prejudices on our way to the conclusion that automotive allegiances can be simultaneously embraced and derided. We had so much fun with the narrative that we decided to do it again, this time taking a look at Germany and its world-renowned lineup of automakers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, among others. Join us below as we discuss the points and counterpoints that make or have made the German auto industry what it is today. And remember, Germany did pretty much invent the automobile, after all... The V12 Engine If America is known for the proliferation of the V8 engine, an argument could be made that Germany owns the V12. Yes, of course, other companies have created V12 engines – Ferrari, Jaguar and Lamborghini immediately come to mind – but the big 12-cylinder powerplants from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in particular, have proven to be some of the most effortless, luxurious and downright over-built engines the world has ever seen. These days, having 12 cylinders is more a case of wretched excess than ever before, and yet, you can still stroll into your local BMW or Mercedes dealership and get a brand-new 760i, S600 or even an over-the-top G65 AMG, efficiency be damned. Best of all, since the majority of these German powerhouses depreciate as fast as an anchor sinks, nearly any auto enthusiast who dreams of a dozen cylinders can satisfy their carnal desires. Current Star: 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 View 28 Photos Diesel Engines Remember how we talked about those glorious V12 engines? Well, you can even get one from Audi that runs on diesel. If your compression-ignition fantasies err more on the side of fuel savings, that's no problem, either. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen have got you covered, with engines starting as small as 800 cubic centimeters (Smart Fortwo). If you want something a little more practical, it's hard to argue with a VW Golf TDI, which will provide plenty of space for you and three of your best friends, plus a fair bit of luggage, all while returning 50-ish miles per gallon. For the purposes of this discussion, we'd rather focus on the asinine levels of torque provided by Germany's high-end diesel engines than the lower-end fuel sippers.
