1970 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 3.5

83,729 Miles

(134,750 Kilometers)

This 1970 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 3.5 is truly a very rare find !!!

This  European version W109 sedan spent most of its life in Switzerland until the time it was imported to the US in 1991.

Family owned (father-son) since new, and it has been meticulously maintained since a very high quality light restoration approximately 10 years ago.

Since the time of the restoration the vehicle has been garage kept and covered at all times in a climate controlled environment.

The vehicles Green Moss (Code 834) paint is in showroom condition, and is well complimented by show quality chrome trim all around.

The matching Continental tires are at greater than 75% all around and the painted Mercedes Benz hubcaps are excellent condition all around.

The body of the car is absolutely rust free, and other than a very few small paint chip touch ups the body is near flawless.

The interior is amazingly clean and the burl wood dash inlays and door trim is in exceptional condition and glossy with the correct patina of a garage kept 45 year old car.

The vehicles seats are firm and supportive and the leather is clean again with the expected beautiful patina of  well maintained 45 year old leather.

The vehicles carpeting and headliner in excellent condition all around as well as the door panels, entry thresholds, and door jambs .

Mechanically the car needs nothing, and it runs and drives as nice as it looks.

The car accelerates without hesitation and the gear shifts are smooth through all the gears.

The air suspension is in perfect working order and the vehicle delivers an amazing ride.

All four air bladders were replaced in the past 10 years as well as all of the flex hosing in the suspension.

The transmission was also rebuilt at this same time, and the brakes and master cylinder were replaced as well as a OEM exhaust.

The vehicles engine bay is meticulously clean and original as well as the trunk.

The undercarriage tells the true story of its fair weather usage. (see photos)

All power options function 100% and the original Becker Stereo sounds great and power antenna functions perfectly.

The vehicle comes with 3 keys, original books, and service records (Switzerland), W109 Shop Manuals, original spare tire, and suspension blocks, and jack.

I have previously owned both the 300 SEL 6.3 and the 300 SEL 4.5 and I am aware of the scarcity of finding these cars in this condition.

This is one of the finest W109 vehicles I have seen in the past 25 years !!!

Please come see and determine the vehicles value for yourself.

Inspections are welcome and encouraged.

This car looks even better in person than the photos depict.

Mercedes GLE63 AMG Coupe teased

Thu, Jan 8 2015

The very concept of the luxury crossover coupe often gets flamed for being not only ugly, but also impractical. However, after years of letting BMW blaze the trail with the X6, Mercedes-Benz recently entered the field with the GLE-Class Coupe. Now, it's time to add a little more pepper to the package with the newly teased GLE63 AMG Coupe. The video above gives a solid look at the three-quarters perspective of this high-performance high-rider. Compared to the standard version buyers get a different front bumper with larger air intakes and an arching wing that almost appears to be floating in space. Flashes in the clip show off AMG branding for the brake calipers, steering wheel and seats, as is expected. This is clearly not a vehicle that'll appeal to everyone, but it offers an alternative to the latest BMW X6 M with 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes isn't saying what lies under the hood of the GLE63 AMG Coupe yet. Although given the name, we suspect a version of the brand's 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 is the likely choice. It's offered in the latest C63 AMG with either 469 or 503 hp. The debut for this CUV coupe is possible at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, where the standard GLE Coupe will be unveiled.

US buyers show little interest in big hybrids

Sat, May 10 2014

The idea of producing large, luxury-vehicle hybrids is turning into a "what were they thinking?" exercise in futility, USA Today reports. General Motors is discontinuing hybrid versions of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs, while Mercedes-Benz and Toyota's Lexus division are doing the same with their S-Class hybrid and LS hybrid sedans, respectively. The culprit? Big price increases for fuel economy improvements that border on the unimpressive. Granted, the Escalade hybrid gets 31 percent better fuel economy than the standard version, but that still maps out to a combined fuel-efficiency rating of just 21 miles per gallon. That can be seen as a worthwhile increase, if it didn't cost over $8,000 extra. The 2014 Escalade Hybrid, for example, starts at $74,425 while the non-hybrid can be had for $66,295. Meanwhile, the Lexus full-size hybrid costs $6,000 more than the regular version but only gets 1-2 mpg better combined fuel economy. The result of all these high costs? Low sales. Through April, GM sold 82 of its hybrid SUVs and pickups, down from 541 a year earlier. And the LS hybrid sales were in single-digit territory for April. That isn't stopping Lexus from promoting its hybrids as the right solution (with the wrong facts), though. There are still automakers giving big hybrid vehicles a shot, though. Nissan's Infiniti division is selling a hybrid version of its QX60 and says an impressive 10 percent of QX60 buyers choose the hybrid, which costs just $3,000 more. Looks like money talks. Mercedes details plans for move to Georgia

Fri, Feb 6 2015

Automakers are getting restless in America, moving their headquarters from one location to another. Toyota is shifting its US operations to Dallas, Porsche is moving to a new headquarters across town, Cadillac is relocating from Detroit to New York, but lately the news has been about Mercedes. The German automaker has run its US operations out of its current facility in Montvale, NJ for decades, but now it's preparing to relocate to a new facility in Atlanta. And it has just announced further details of the move. The company is building a new facility at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield in Sandy Springs outside of Atlanta. That's right near where the Georgia 400 meets Interstate 285 near Hartsfield-Jackson airport, giving Mercedes access to an existing infrastructure of hotels, restaurants and of course transportation routes. The facility will take up a 12-acre plot of land and is earmarked for completion in early 2018. Lest you think MBUSA will stay put in Montvale in the meantime, though, it won't. The company is actually going to relocate twice, moving in the meantime to a temporary, 186,000-square-foot facility at the Perimeter Center in Dunwoody, GA. That move will kick off in July. The move detailed earlier this week at a press conference at the Georgia State Capitol with Governor Nathan Deal will see Mercedes hiring hundreds of new employees in Atlanta. Even after it moves down south, though, the company will keep certain functions in New Jersey, both in Montvale and in Robbinsville where it has its parts distribution center. MERCEDES-BENZ USA ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN ATLANTA MBUSA to occupy interim office space in Central Perimeter before opening new, state-of-the-art facility in 2018 February 03, 2015 - ATLANTA -- At a press conference today at the Georgia State Capitol, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) announced the permanent and interim locations for its new corporate headquarters in Atlanta. Company President and CEO Stephen Cannon made the announcement with Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. MBUSA, which is currently headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, will construct a new, state-of-the-art headquarters facility on a greenfield site located at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads in Sandy Springs, expected to be completed in early 2018.
