1970 - Mercedes-benz 300-series on 2040-cars
Bradenton Beach, Florida, United States
For sale is a wonderful example of legendary Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3, MB factory code W109 E63, mother of all modern AMG 63-series. Sought after combination of electric sunroof and air-condition. Repainted 2011 in classic navy-blue colour code 904. First stamp in warranty book made by a Las Vegas Mercedes dealer in April 1970. Performance still pretty surprising for unexperienced drivers. Automatic gearbox including "kick-down" is working accurately. I only used kick-down at a speed of 50 mph in order to be nice to drivetrain. Still running 220 km/h on German Autobahn representing 137 mph. Car comes with 5 Fuchs-alloys in correct size of 6,5'' x 14'' and 5 Michelin XWX tires. 4 additional factory steel wheels equipped with 195/70 winter tires. I purchased this car from a collector in California in 2010 with 55.000 miles (odometer) and took it to Germany for a deeper technical restoration. The interior has been done completely in the U.S. before shipping. - new leather seats, armrests, B-columns and lower window-frame in blue leather OEM-quality - new velours carpets and isolating mats underneath - new headliner - grey alcantara interior for glove-box - restoration of all Macassar ebony wooden parts (dashboard, door trim, window-trim) at Madera Concept in Santa Barbara This mechanically excellent Mercedes was rust-free when I purchased it, so only a few conversions to European standard had to be made e.g. removing sidemarkers and license plate lights. In 2010 a thorough mechanical inspection has been made at HK-Engineering (specialized on 300 SL coupés and roadsters) followed by restoration and maintenance works on - fuel injection pump (full restoration with galvanized parts including detailled report) - renewal of water pipes - engine valve adjustement - oil-maintenance of axles and gearbox - air condition with refill of modern-standard liquid All cylinders with good compression (report can be shown). Only 2.000 miles driven after restoration. Air bellows are in good shape; main air valve (engine compartment) will be done before shipping. I have to let this beauty go for lack of time and space and decided to offer it back to the US-collector's market. It has seen Mercedes Benz plant in "Sindelfingen" twice in it's life: 1970 and 2010. I can assist with shipping, however all costs for shipping, handling and tax must be carried by buyer. If you need further information and pictures, please don't hesitate to ask !

Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
2015 Monaco F1 Grand Prix race recap [spoilers]
Mon, May 25 2015Lewis Hamilton came to Monaco with a new three-year deal with Mercedes-AMG Petronas and a vow to not let anything, including any "mistakes" by teammate Nico Rosberg, stand in the way of his best qualifying effort. Mercedes reportedly made it rain with a 100-million-pound deal, and Hamilton made it rain right back with his first pole position at Monaco. Rosberg did make a mistake but this time it was behind Hamilton, which meant he stuffed-up the qualifying attempts of rival drivers like Sebastian Vettel. So Rosberg starts second, 0.342 behind Hamilton but 0.449 ahead of Vettel in the Ferrari. Daniel Ricciardo thinks he should have been third, but a communication error with his engineers left him in the wrong engine setting for his final hot lap, so by the very first corner he'd lost the time he would have needed to get higher than fourth on the grid. The second Infiniti Red Bull Racing of Daniil Kvyat slots in behind him, ahead of the second Ferrari of Kimi "Not A Very Happy Day" Raikkonen, who just can't get it going lately. Sergio Perez did for the Sahara Force India what the car can't do on its own, which is grab a top-ten qualifying spot. Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz had qualified eighth but missed a call to the weigh bridge, so he's been slapped into the pit lane. Pastor Maldonado in the Lotus inherits his eighth place, ahead of rookie Max Verstappen in the second Toro Rosso, and Jenson Button in the McLaren. Button only got up there because of two penalties: for Sainz, and Romain Grosjean who had qualified 11th but took a penalty for a gearbox change. Want to know how hard it is to do better on race day than in qualifying at Monaco? Even the never-say-die Fernando Alonso said, "Monte Carlo is a train of cars on Sunday, the race finishes on Saturday afternoon." Well obviously, he didn't take Max Verstappen's seek-and-destroy tactics into account. The young Dutchman had made passing look like a real option in Monaco, getting past Maldonado at St. Devote on Lap 7 after a bit of argy-bargy on Lap 6, then taking advantage of blue flags to slink past teammate Carlos Sainz and Williams driver Valtteri Bottas while hiding in Sebastian Vettel's slipstream. He tried the same move on Romain Grosjean on Lap 65, but Grosjean locked him out. Verstappen lined up the Lotus driver over the following laps, then looked like he slipped to the inside at St.
Wingsuits are somehow involved in new season of 'Top Gear'
Mon, Jan 14 2019It's a shame that Matt LeBlanc is leaving "Top Gear," but there's a bit of solace in the situation: There's still one more season of him as frontman. BBC just released the new trailer for series 26, and it shows LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid getting into all sorts of shenanigans around the globe. "Top Gear" announced LeBlanc's imminent departure back in May 2018, but he still had to finish one more season before leaving. Thus, the upcoming series will be his last, and it looks like he'll go out in a whirlwind of dust, bent metal, water spray and burnt rubber. The trailer shows everything expected from a season of the storied automotive show (well, everything except Hammond, May, and Clarkson, if you're one of those people). There will be precision driving, dubious stunts, name-calling and gobs of stunning videography. In the short one-minute clip, there are flashes of numerous attention-piquing vehicles. The new Bentley Continental GT, a Bentley Le Mans racer, Porsches, Ferraris, the Aston Martin Vantage, and the Mercedes-AMG GT all make appearances. And for some random fun, the boys are seen in wingsuits (doubtful it's actually them), and playing polo in some three-wheel rickshaws (before wrecking said rickshaws). We'll update with more information as soon as we know when the show will start.
