1962 Mercedes Benz 300SE Cabriolet This is a very special Factory Original Cabriolet! It's one of the very first w112 Cabriolets built with a Production Number of 27 and a Body Number of 25. According to the Mercedes Classic Center, this Cabriolet was delivered to a Mercedes retail dealer approximately September 1962. As you may know, just months before, the 300SE Cabriolet was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1962. Restoration was commenced on this spectacular 300SE. We loosely assembled the Cabriolet for shipping and to assist you in determining which parts are present. As you can determine from the detailed pictures, the vast majority of the parts and particularly the rare parts, are present. The Engine does turn freely by hand. I have included copies of the Data Card and Data Card Translation from the Mercedes Classic Center. I have also included photographs of restored examples to demonstrate this Cabriolet's potential. All things considered, this 300SE Cabriolet is a Significant Find. Upon completion, you will have one of the earliest known 300SE Cabriolets. Mercedes, Renault-Nissan to work together on truck project
Wed, Apr 8 2015Just a few weeks ago, Mercedes-Benz barged into the automotive world with news of a pickup as a mysterious but enticing future model from the German brand. Rumors of a possible collaboration with Nissan followed, but Renault-Nissan Alliance CEO Carlos Ghosn refused to give any clear details. That speculation is now over, because the automakers made their truck partnership official. This new information reveals that the Mercedes truck won't be a full in-house creation from Daimler. For example, the pickup will share some of its underpinnings with the latest Nissan NP300 Navara. The German company's engineers, however, will work to change the design to their liking. Also, as in the rendering, Mercedes will use a double-cab body for the model. "Thanks to our well-established partnership with the Renault-Nissan Alliance, we are able to drastically reduce the time and cost to enter this key segment." Daimler Chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche said in the company's release. Nissan will play a further major role in the project by helping Renault develop a pickup based on the Navara as well. By 2020, all three trucks will be built together in Cordoba, Argentina, for Latin American markets and in Barcelona, Spain, for other parts of the world. Mercedes will target both regular customers and commercial buyers with its truck. While still not officially slated for North America, there's a chance that the Mercedes truck might be sold here. The US arm of the company reportedly has until the end of the year to decide to offer it with some added luxury-oriented upgrades compared to the rest of the world. 2014 Mercedes SL and SLK add small expansion to Takata airbag recall
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to be affected by Takata's massive airbag recall. The company has announced a voluntary recall campaign on a small number of model-year 2014 SLK- and SL-Class roadsters.
In Mercedes' case, 300 vehicles are affected, 200 of which are in the hands of customers. According to spokesperson Donna Boland, the affected roadsters were built between March and April of this year.
The issue, which is apparently the fault of one of Takata's subcontractors, rests with some improperly installed fasteners, which could keep the airbag from performing the way it's supposed to. According to Boland, Mercedes isn't sure what, if any, injuries the recalled airbags could cause, but simply claims there's an increased risk in these particular vehicles. There's been no reported instances of the faulty airbags deploying on a customer and the original issue was found in a production test.
