Up for auction is my friends 190E Mercedes . It is in clean original condition , does not appear to have had any paintwork , not perfect but overall for her age she is in good condition , there is a small dent on the front side of the roof as pictured . looks like something fell from above , I thought about popping it out from the underside but decided it was better left alone . What I know and can tell you about the car is as follows , It has been parked unused for around a year , it was a spare car and as such just stood parked , I had to replace the battery with a new one as the original was flat , after replacing the battery and checking all the fluids I started the car and it fired right up on the second turn , What I can tell you is that it needs to be driven , it appears to run and drive smoothly and shift gears like it should . It has a matching set of Yokohama tires with around 65% tread remaining all around , it has the factory original alloy rims . I did not see any visible rust on the car and it had been garaged kept for a large part of its life which is clearly evident in the fact that it has original paint not all faded , the interior roof lining is in great shape and not sagging anywhere either . The leather seats are in great condition as pictured The picture of the cluster was taken while the car was running and there do not appear to be any warning lights on . All the electric windows work as they should , interior lights are all working , it even has the original factory radio although I need to get the code after I replaced the battery I need to enter it to get the radio to work . I do have the original manuals included . I would have to say that it is a great candidate for someone that is looking for an original unmolested model , it has been standing for a while so please keep this in mind , the only thing I did not seem to be able to get working was the fan motor for the interior fan , I have no idea what the problem is so please keep this in mind when bidding . Other than that it has a clear Maryland title and is ready to go . I would have to say it is not a project car , it runs and drives , and has great potential for the right person it is not perfect either , it does qualify for Historic Tags which helps in the state of Maryland .

Mercedes AMG GT3 racecar due in 2016

Sun, Nov 23 2014

Our life with the Mercedes-AMG GT has only just begun, and a full life it looks like it will be. The latest in preposterous two-doors from AMG is launching in GT and GT S flavors, but a few more branches of the family tree are already planned: a racing entry for the FIA GT3 championship is scheduled to appear in 2016, giving the current SLS AMG GT3 another year to gobble up victories before it takes a drive across the Styx. More exciting for those who only suit up on Sunday for church, whispers are that a we'll also get a streetable version of the race car - not called "GT3" because that alphanumeric is owned by Porsche, but definitely aimed at its Stuttgart rival. AMG boss Tobias Moers told Autocar the objective for that car is "more power, less weight, better aerodynamics and different suspension but the targets should be the power to weight ratio, drivability, lap time and tremendous feel." Those targets will be aided by a carbon fiber weight-loss regime of up to 220 pounds and more power - perhaps 550 horsepower - from the currently "very understressed" engine. Supposing that still isn't enough for you, then the Black Series version should curl your toes, if you can wait until 2018 for it.

Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]

Sat, 23 Feb 2013

Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Check out the videos below of the Erebus car starting up at its launch, and footage of all of this year's cars doing pre-season testing on track together.

Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion

Wed, Jun 17 2015

While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.
