2010 Mazda Rx-8 Grand Touring Coupe 4-door 1.3l on 2040-cars

Series II 2010 Grand Touring Mazda RX8. RX8s got some major updates starting with the MY2009 including enhanced cooling and lubrication to the engine rotors and a more substantial transmission over the 04-08 models.
This is the GT model with every available option offered (except navigation), including moonroof (power), heated side mirrors, power adjustable seats, one touch power drivers seat button for rear entry, rain sensing wipers, home link, Bose audio, keyless remote entry (just have the key fob in your pocket and press the door button). Engine, ignition system, transmission, and suspension are all in perfect shape. Car runs smooth, idles right at 900rpm, throttle response is perfect and transmission is silky smooth with that super grabby clutch RX8s are known for. Never been in the shop. This is my 2nd rotary, I am an enthusiast of rotaries and have meticulously maintained this car. Plugs were changed by dealer at 25k miles including new K&N air filter. Oil changes were completed way before recommended between 3-4k miles and I kept all my oil change records. I am the second owner of this car, I purchased it in 2011 with 6,000 miles on it from a local dealer. It is a Mazda Certified Used Car / was when purchased in 2011. Documentation included. I also own a newer Miata that I drive on the weekends, this RX8 has been my daily driver to and fro work.. I work about 15 miles off of I-85 and she has seen mostly all highway miles, with a redline getting on the exit ramp each day. I am a rotary enthusiast and this is my second rotary car (2004 RX8 I sold for the miata, then later could afford both and a lot of the quirks were fixed with the 2009+ model years so I bought this one). The only defects on the car are a small ding from a pebble on the interstate hitting the passenger side rear fender, and the rims have some scratches on them. Two rims have small dings also. (See Photos) The car comes with two key fobs, although one has lost sync with the car (functions/power light comes on but does not communicate with car), the other FOB works great. The dealer can resync the FOB to the car (for a charge). I have never needed the 2nd one. All original books and manuals are included in the glove box. There is a professionally installed 10" bass tube (purchased by me) in the trunk that can go with the car to the buyer, or I can have the sound shop remove it if you desire. It sounds really great, but does take up trunk space. There is no modification to the stock sound system, just the woofer sharing the factory BOSE amp. The price is a starting point, willing to negotiate, but not in desperate need to sell the car. I'm looking to sell both the RX8 and miata to eventually buy a larger 4 door sports sedan and get back to just one car. Please respond with any questions. Car is located in Greenville, SC. |

Toyota will build new SUV at Alabama plant it's building with Mazda
Wed, Jul 10 2019WASHINGTON — Toyota Motor Corp said Wednesday it will build a new sport utility vehicle at its $1.6 billion joint venture assembly plant in Alabama rather than produce Corolla cars. The largest Japanese automaker announced in January 2018 it would build the factory in Alabama in a joint venture with Mazda. Toyota said the shift is due to "a growing consumer appetite for light trucks and SUVs." Mazda announced in February 2019 that it would build a new SUV at the plant. Toyota said it still expects the plan to start production in 2021. Construction remains on schedule, and hiring has begun. The plant could create up to 4,000 new jobs and build 300,000 vehicles annually. Corolla production will remain at Toyota's plant in Blue Springs, Miss.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata 2.0L First Drive [w/video]
Mon, Jun 1 2015The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is easy to comprehend. It is an enthusiast roadster in its purest form. There's no need for any sort of sales pitch. You don't have to ramp up in order to get people excited about it. Say the words "new Miata" to anyone who cares about cars, and you've immediately got their attention. And now that I have yours, I'll to cut right to the chase. It's brilliant. That's a fact I've known for a while. I drove the Japanese-spec ND Miata in Spain earlier this year, with the 130-horsepower, 1.5-liter engine that we aren't getting in the United States. The new Miata is a modern day reincarnation of the original NA that stole our hearts in 1989. It's smaller and lighter than the outgoing NC, yet boasts more interior room. It's comfortable. It looks great. And it drives like a Miata should. In other words, it's perfect. So what about this US-spec car, then? It's got more power – 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque from Mazda's 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder engine. But it's also heavier. Our car weighs 2,332 pounds, compared to the roughly 2,200 pounds of the 1.5-liter car. Yes, the ND Miata loses 12 hp compared to the outgoing NC, but it's up 8 lb-ft of torque. Plus, according to Mazda, because of the improved powerband, anytime you're under 5,700 rpm the new Skyactiv engine is stronger than the old MZR mill. It's more efficient, too. With the manual transmission, the Miata is estimated to achieve 27 miles per gallon in the city and 34 mpg highway. That a jump of six mpg in both categories compared to the old six-speed. Consider this: The Japanese-spec car uses a 130-hp engine, which I found to be perfectly adequate. The increase in power for the US-spec car mostly just balances out the extra weight, but it also improves performance on the highway. Hit the throttle in sixth gear with the 1.5 and nothing happens. Do the same with the 2.0, and there's movement. Low-end power is far more important in the US than it is in other markets, and that's why our car has the larger engine. "North America is why the two-liter car exists," engineer Dave Coleman told me. Plus, 155 hp power means you eke out the Miata's dynamics at legal speeds. 45 miles per hour in an MX-5 is a far more exhilarating experience than that same speed in any supercar. So yeah, it's not powerful. But to paraphrase Jay-Z, the MX-5 is a super car, not a supercar.
