2010 Mazda Rx-8 Grand Touring Coupe 4-door 1.3l on 2040-cars
Greenville, South Carolina, United States

Series II 2010 Grand Touring Mazda RX8. RX8s got some major updates starting with the MY2009 including enhanced cooling and lubrication to the engine rotors and a more substantial transmission over the 04-08 models.
This is the GT model with every available option offered (except navigation), including moonroof (power), heated side mirrors, power adjustable seats, one touch power drivers seat button for rear entry, rain sensing wipers, home link, Bose audio, keyless remote entry (just have the key fob in your pocket and press the door button). Engine, ignition system, transmission, and suspension are all in perfect shape. Car runs smooth, idles right at 900rpm, throttle response is perfect and transmission is silky smooth with that super grabby clutch RX8s are known for. Never been in the shop. This is my 2nd rotary, I am an enthusiast of rotaries and have meticulously maintained this car. Plugs were changed by dealer at 25k miles including new K&N air filter. Oil changes were completed way before recommended between 3-4k miles and I kept all my oil change records. I am the second owner of this car, I purchased it in 2011 with 6,000 miles on it from a local dealer. It is a Mazda Certified Used Car / was when purchased in 2011. Documentation included. I also own a newer Miata that I drive on the weekends, this RX8 has been my daily driver to and fro work.. I work about 15 miles off of I-85 and she has seen mostly all highway miles, with a redline getting on the exit ramp each day. I am a rotary enthusiast and this is my second rotary car (2004 RX8 I sold for the miata, then later could afford both and a lot of the quirks were fixed with the 2009+ model years so I bought this one). The only defects on the car are a small ding from a pebble on the interstate hitting the passenger side rear fender, and the rims have some scratches on them. Two rims have small dings also. (See Photos) The car comes with two key fobs, although one has lost sync with the car (functions/power light comes on but does not communicate with car), the other FOB works great. The dealer can resync the FOB to the car (for a charge). I have never needed the 2nd one. All original books and manuals are included in the glove box. There is a professionally installed 10" bass tube (purchased by me) in the trunk that can go with the car to the buyer, or I can have the sound shop remove it if you desire. It sounds really great, but does take up trunk space. There is no modification to the stock sound system, just the woofer sharing the factory BOSE amp. The price is a starting point, willing to negotiate, but not in desperate need to sell the car. I'm looking to sell both the RX8 and miata to eventually buy a larger 4 door sports sedan and get back to just one car. Please respond with any questions. Car is located in Greenville, SC. |

2014 Mazda6 i Sport
Fri, 01 Feb 2013In an automotive landscape dominated by platform sharing, technology exchange and any number of other cross-fertilization/cost-saving/amortization exercises, it's actually pretty rare that we get to drive a new car that is as "all-new" as this, the 2014 Mazda6. With brand-spanking new Skyactiv architecture throughout - engine, transmission, body and chassis all included - this 6 represents a new era of flexible production and cutting edge running gear for the happily lithe car company.
Our own Jonathon Ramsey did a cracking job of running the Mazda6 through its First Drive paces a few months ago, and sufficiently impressed upon us just how good looking a car this is for the midsize sedan segment. Suffice it to say, now, then, that this is easily the most interesting (and quite possibly the most beautiful) midsize sedan in the segment today. However, as Mr. Ramsey reviewed a fully contented example of the 6 - one equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission - we took advantage of Mazda's North American launch event of the car to suss out the base Mazda6 i Sport, complete with its six-speed Skyactiv manual gearbox. This may not shock you, but the stripper's pretty good, too.

Mazda marks its 100th anniversary with eight retro-styled limited-edition models
Fri, Apr 3 2020Mazda is turning 100 years old in 2020, and it's commemorating the occasion by releasing eight retro-inspired limited-edition models in its home country of Japan. Some of them might be available in the United States. Cars weren't initially on the company's radar. It started life as a cork manufacturer named Toyo Kogyo, and it branched out into the transportation sector when it introduced a three-wheeled, motorcycle-based pickup called Mazda-Go in 1931. Its first car, the R360, was unveiled in 1960 as a two-door four-seater whose tiny dimensions fell in line with Japan's strict kei regulations. It's the model Mazda's celebratory cars are inspired by. The range of special-edition models includes the CX-3, the CX-30, the CX-5, the CX-8, the Mazda2, the Mazda3, the Mazda6, plus hard- and soft-topped variants of the MX-5 Miata. They all feature an edition-specific white exterior and a burgundy interior, though the Miata and the CX-30 also get a red roof. The 100th Anniversary logo, which combines Mazda's current emblem with Toyo Kogyo's, appears on the wheels and on the front headrests, among other places. White and red was one of the combinations available on upmarket versions of the R360. None of the commemorative cars receive mechanical modifications, which is just as well. Paying homage to the humble R360 (shown in our gallery) would require replacing the Miata's 181-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an air-cooled, 356cc v-twin rated at 16 horsepower. It would need to be mounted in the trunk, too. The full 100th Anniversary range is on sale in Japan, and it will be available through March 2021. Mazda announced availability in other markets, like England, but it hasn't revealed if it will offer its commemorative cars in the United States yet due to "the global crisis." The 500 examples of the head-turning Miata 30th Anniversary introduced in 2019 were spoken for so quickly that the company allocated 143 additional units to our market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the newest special-edition models land in showrooms in the near future. For context, the United Kingdom will receive 100 examples of the Miata, the CX-30, and the Mazda3. The Mazda6 and the CX-5 might join the roster later on. Pricing information will be published later in 2020. Related Video:
Why Mazda did so well and Volvo so poorly in Consumer Reports survey
Thu, Oct 25 2018The poor performances of Tesla and all three domestic automakers got the headlines in Consumer Reports magazine's latest reliability survey, but there were other results that caught our interest. Tiny Mazda notched the biggest gain among the 29 brands included in this year's list, leap-frogging nine spots to No. 3. Buick, which was in the top 10 last year, fell 11 spots to No. 19, the biggest decline of any brand. And then there's Volvo, a brand often vaunted for its quality and reliability, dropping six spots to dead last. What gives? For starters, all three brands benefited or suffered in large part due to their relatively small portfolio of vehicles. So when raves or complaints rolled in for even one particular model, as was often the case, it weighed heavily on the entire brand. That's especially true when it involves a relatively high-volume, hot-selling model such as the Buick Enclave (more on that in a moment). Mazda fared as well as it did despite the CX-3 losing Consumer Reports' influential "recommended" status due to problems with its climate system, including leaks from the condenser and refrigerant unit that triggered a service bulletin from the automaker in late 2016. Deputy auto editor Jon Linkov said that scratch didn't hurt the overall brand, since the CX-9 crossover and MX-5 Miata both jumped up to replace it on CR's list of newly recommended vehicles, thanks to several back fixes Mazda made to both models. For Buick, the redesigned Enclave SUV earned a "Much Worse Than Average" rating after owners reported problems with the new nine-speed automatic transmission it shares with the Chevrolet Traverse as well as some issues with the climate system. There were issues with rough shifting, plus complaints about the torque converter that necessitated fixes to the computer or outright replacement. "Again, similar stuff that we saw with the Traverse: both first-year vehicles, similar powertrains," LInkov said. He said all-new vehicles or redesigns typically fare poorly in CR's reliability survey due to issues that are hard to suss out before vehicles go into everyday use by consumers. The top-selling Encore and Envision fared well, Linkov said, but were outdone by the Enclave's problematic transmission components. The Enclave was Buick's second best-selling model through September at 35,227 units. Then there is Volvo, about which there is one word to sum up its woes: infotainment.
