2010 Black Mica Mazda Rx-8 Sport Coupe Rotary 1.3l Low Miles on 2040-cars
El Paso, Texas, United States
2010 Mazda RX8 Sport Coupe 1.3L Rotary Engine 25,930 Miles I am selling my Black Mica 2010 Mazda RX8 Coupe. The vehicle runs and drives great. Very Low mileage for the year. It is a 6 speed manual that shifts without any problems. Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles or less with conventional Mobil 1 5w-30 Oil (*Note: This car is not recommended to use synthetic oil). I have owned the car for over a year now and it has given me no problems, even on a couple of road trips to Phoenix, AZ and back. The car has a repaired title due to a small accident on the drivers side & followed by theft of the F&R bumpers and headlights which is noted in the condition description. The only trouble light on the dash is the ABS light which is due to a faulty sensor on the front drivers side wheel (Very simple & cheap to replace, just came on a couple days ago). The interior is black and in great condition, I would rate it an 8.7 out of 10. The windows are tinted with 3M window film. The 1.3L Renesis Rotary engine is quiet and is very healthy. I like to be as honest as possible with any potential buyers of any vehicles I may sell, if you have any questions about the car or are close enough that you would like to come test drive it, do not hesitate to send me a message. The car is currently located in El Paso, TX. I would prefer the car be picked up in person, however, if you decide you want to have the vehicle shipped at your expense, that is also an acceptable option. Upon a winning bid, $500 is due through Paypal within 24 hours, and the remaining balance must be paid within 7 Days of Auction Close. Please remember, this vehicle does have a repaired title & so it will not have the factory warranty available to it. The vehicle may be insured with full coverage though. |

Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru expand global Takata recalls by 715k [UPDATE]
Fri, May 22 2015UPDATE: Subaru of America spokesperson Michael McHale tells Autoblog that the company is recalling 78,000 Imprezas from the 2004 and 2005 model years in the US. This is a national expansion of the company's previous regional recall for the Impreza. The Takata airbag inflator recall just keeps growing. The latest expansion encompasses 715,000 vehicles from Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru. Many of the affected models are in Japan. The largest expansion from these three automakers comes from Mitsubishi. According to Reuters, the company is adding 100,000 vehicles in Japan and 412,000 outside of the country without identifying any specific regions. Mazda is issuing safety campaigns for 112,000 vehicles in Japan, and some of these include models that the company produces there for Mitsubishi and Nissan, according to Reuters. In statement to Autoblog (embedded below), Mazda said that it is still evaluating the situation in terms of a possible effect on the US. Finally, Subaru is calling in 91,000 Imprezas in Japan. At this time, it isn't clear whether Mitsubishi's or Subaru's expansions affect the United States, but Autoblog has reached out to them for more information. According to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, exposure to moisture can cause the propellant in these inflators to ignite too quickly and cause these dangerous ruptures. Takata has also been investigating the problem. Related Video: Mazda statement "We are aware of the NHTSA/Takata announcement, and are evaluating the effects of it on Mazda. As soon as we have had a chance to fully evaluate the situation – number of vehicles affected, age of those vehicles, where they're located, etc. – we will be able to share those details."
R&T chases down a burglar in the million-mile Miata
Mon, 04 Aug 2014Is the answer always Mazda Miata? We discussed this in passing on the Autoblog Podcast earlier this week, and most assuredly the answer is "no." For example, the little MX-5 would be a terrible people carrier, and it'd be useless off road. You can't really tow anything of substance with it, either. Still, if push came to shove, it's satisfying to know that the diminutive roadster could eke out a career as a chase vehicle for the police.
That fact was proven when Road & Track editor Chris Cantle did something that he himself recognizes as "stupid." Upon returning home, Cantle discovered a "twenty-something" actively burgling his home. The resulting story is easily one of the more entertaining episodes to come out of the 1990 MX-5's service to the team at R&T and, we're guessing, will be one of the highlights of the Million-Mile Miata challenge.
Be sure to head over to Road & Track for a full retelling of the chase from Cantle, as well as a follow-up on the saga.
50 engineers kept the rotary alive at Mazda for 8 years
Fri, Oct 30 2015The Mazda RX-Vision concept is one of the standouts at this year's Tokyo Motor Show thanks to a drop-dead gorgeous design and a revival of the Wankel engine. The fact that the rotary is still in development at Mazda is thanks to a dedicated group of 50 engineers. According to Automotive News, their dream for the last eight years has been to bring this storied engine design back to the street. It won't be easy. Because of its design, the rotary suffers from poor fuel economy and high emissions. Making the challenge even harder, Mazda reportedly only gives them a small budget, but they continue to chip away at the problem. "These 50 engineers want to develop the rotary engine, therefore they joined Mazda," company research and development boss Kiyoshi Fujiwara told AN. "If I stop the rotary engine, probably they want to leave." For the Skyactiv-R under the RX-Vision's svelte hood, the team reportedly started from the 16X rotary project. Dating back to 2007, that 1.6-liter engine was supposed to improve torque and fuel economy thanks in part to direct injection. After additional development, insiders even suggested that the engineers might have finally solved the powerplant's issues. However, Mazda never put the mill into production, and the RX-8 remains the company's last Wankel-powered model to be offered in showrooms. "We have a dream that one day, this design with a rotary engine will achieve a level that customers will accept," CEO Masamichi Kogai said to AN. Mazda is quite clear that the RX-Vision might never go on sale without a suitable rotary. Although if it does see production, the coupe would likely use a stiffened version of the Miata's chassis, AN reports. Before anyone can place an order, these 50 determined engineers still have a lot of work ahead of them. Related Video:
