Up for auction is a very clean, mechanically sound 2006 Mazda RX-8. We are selling this vehicle without a reserve - the highest bidder will win this car. The car comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission, sunroof, power windows and locks, cruise control, steering wheel controls, leather interior, power seat, heated seats, and 6-disc CD changer. I do not know of ANY mechanical problems with the vehicle. It cranks, runs, drives and shifts great. There are no warning lights on in the vehicle (check engine, ABS, air bag, etc). It has cold air conditioning and all accessories on the vehicle (windows, cd player, power seat) are in good working order. The car is extremely clean inside and out, having only very minor scratches as would be expected from a 7 year-old vehicle. The front tires are practically new, and the rear tires have about 60% tread life remaining. The only cosmetic defects that I can find on the car are a small door ding on the driver's door (no paint damage), and some light cracking in the dashboard on the passenger's side (shown in pictures). This is a rust-free car, having only been registered in the states of Florida and South Carolina. While this is a great looking and driving car, it does have two issues showing on its vehicle history report. First, it was involved in an accident in March of 2010. The damage was on the driver's side, but it did not result in the air bags being deployed. The paint and body work appear to be very well done, as the paint is smooth and matches well and all gaps align properly. This is NOT a salvage vehicle!!! The second event is a mileage inconsistency from a lien recorded on 5/23/2011 with a reported odometer reading of 91,108. This was not recorded during a sale of the vehicle, but during the recording of a lien (such as from the vehicle being refinanced). With the exception of this one recording, the mileage appears to be consistent through the vehicle's history (look at Auto Check report that is available above). It is my belief that this was simply a recording error by the bank from which the owner got their loan, but this is just my opinion and I can not 100% guarantee the vehicle's mileage to be accurate. As a result, the vehicle will be sold true miles unknown (TMU). We have a South Carolina title in hand, and the only brand appearing on the title is, as mentioned, "Not Actual Mileage." You are welcome to inspect the vehicle or have it inspected by a third party prior to purchase. Although we guarantee all systems on the vehicle to be in good working order at the time of purchase, we do not offer any warranty after the sale. This vehicle is being sold "As Is." If you have any questions, please contact Brett at (864) 388-7828, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM EST. We will gladly answer any of your questions or provide any additional pictures you may wish to see. $500 PayPal deposit due within 48 hours of auction close, with balance due in full within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or delivery.
AGAIN, PLEASE UNDERSTAND BEFORE BIDDING THAT THE TITLE FOR THIS VEHICLE WILL BE BRANDED "NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE."

Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo reshapes a winning form [w/video]
Fri, Dec 26 2014In the history of endurance racing, there's only ever been one Japanese automaker to win the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, and as you might have guessed, that was Mazda in 1991 with the 787B – which was, incidentally, the only one ever to win the race under rotary power, or really anything other than a conventional piston engine. That racing success is something Mazda can be proud about, even over two decades later, and it's a badge of honor the automaker is revisiting with the LM55 prototype you see here. Only instead of unleashing it on the Circuit de la Sarthe – or really any actual race track – the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is bound only for PlayStation. The latest addition to the Vision Gran Turismo lineup, the LM55 takes inspiration from the aforementioned 787B but gives it a modern KODO design theme. The result is pretty stunning, taking a more radical approach than the Skyactiv Prototype the company is fielding in the United SportsCar Championship or even the dearly departed, head-turning Furai concept. But unlike that diesel prototype and the Wankel-powered 787B, Mazda hasn't specified any kind of novel powertrain for the LM55, fictitious or otherwise - saying only that it has "advanced drive train technology that offers the epitome of power, efficiency and durability and the result is an exceptional power to weight ratio exceeding that of most cars in its class." Just what that class would be we'll likely never find out, but if you don't have a PS3 loaded with GT6 (or, for that matter, even if you do), you can scope out the virtual action in the slideshow above and the rather Christmas-y video below. 2014 Mazda3 configurator zoom-zooms to life
Thu, 29 Aug 2013The 2014 Mazda3 is probably going to be on a lot of shopping lists, thanks to its striking good looks, clean interior treatment, fuel economy and driving character. If it happens to be on your personal list of new cars to test, you'll be happy to see that the configurator for Mazda's newest product has officially gone online.
In terms of build-your-own web items, configuring a 3 isn't much of a departure from the rest of the Mazda range. Most of the work comes from choosing one of the three trim levels - Sport, Touring and Grand Touring - and selecting either the 155-horsepower, 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder or its larger sibling, the 184-horsepower, 2.5-liter, Skyactiv four. From there, a simple range of color and interior finishes are available, before a slim list of packages, options and accessories. Really, Mazda's made it easy to get through this build process.
Click on over to the configurator and take a look at the options, colors and prices for Mazda's newest five-door hatchback.
Next Mazda MX-5 Miata to weigh a ton(ne), literally
Wed, 27 Nov 2013Looking at recent spy shots of the fourth-generation Mazda Miata, it's obvious this sporty little roadster will grow in size compared to the current model, but it's also going on a diet. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Auto Motor und Sport sat down with Mazda executive Kiyoshi Fujiwara, who gave a little more insight into the Miata's redesign.
Fujiwara said that they're aiming for a curb weight of a tonne (metric ton), which is 1,000 kilograms or right around 2,200 pounds, for the next-generation Miata. This would make the roadster at least 300 pounds lighter than the current NC Miata, but still about 200 pounds heavier than the original NA.
There is no indication as to how Mazda will go about removing that much weight from the bigger car, but with as popular as the power retractable hard top (PHRT) model is on the current car, the new Miata may ditch this feature to lose its weight. Improving the power-to-weight ratio appears to be a key goal of the Mazda team, so we also wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful engine underneath the longer hood.
