2004 Mazda RX8
Today up for auction we have a nice 2004 Mazda RX8. It currently has 58,330 miles on it. 6spd manual transmission, which complements nicely to the Rotary Motor. Paint is in excellent condition overall at least a 9 out of 10, the metal flake shows brilliantly. Full power options to include power windows, door locks, mirrors, power seat, cruise control, moonroof, and heated leather seats. The vehicle is in great running and driving condition. currently it is riding on 19" Tenzo R racing Wheels wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires only about 800 miles on them. Has a touch screen dvd / cd player, with an AUX and USB port. The display above the radio that says Mazda RX8 can be customized to say anything that will fit in that space. Brand new battery installed this month. I have personally owned this vehicle since 2008 and it has never seen winter in my ownership. The only issues with this vehicle are the TPMS light is on (tire pressure monitoring system) and there is a crack in the front bumper under the passenger side rally stripe. That is it. The pictures I took are just general photos, let me know if you want any specific photos.
I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability, please look closely at this vehicle as the one shown in the photo's is exactly what you will receive.
Please contact me with any questions before you bid. Shipping or pick-up is buyers responsibility within 7 days of auction close.
All forms of payment must clear prior to vehicle pick-up!

Added that last photo so you could see what the front looks like without the black mazda emblem if you don't like it. I just put that emblem on this past weekend, and that photo was shot 3 or 4 days before that.

Takashi Yamanouchi to retire as Mazda chairman

Mon, 12 May 2014

Takashi Yamanouchi has been with Mazda for a long time. He signed on with the Japanese automaker in April 1967 - one month after graduating from Keio University - and rose through the ranks over the years. By 1996 he was named to the company's board of directors. In 2008 he was named president and CEO, an office he held until 2013, after which he handed over the day-to-day reins to Masamichi Kogai and took up the seat at the head of the board room to serve as the company's chairman. But now, after 47 years working for Mazda, Yamanouchi-san is retiring at the age of 69.
During his tenure as CEO and then as chairman, Yamanouchi was credited with growing Mazda's business despite unfavorable fluctuations in exchange rates, opening the company's first plant in Mexico, and spearheading the development of Mazda's Skyactiv technologies and Kodo design language.
In his place, current vice chairman Seita Kanai will take over as chairman. The changing of the guard will take place after the annual shareholders' meeting on June 24.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata firsthand impressions and notebook scribblings

Thu, 04 Sep 2014

In a temporarily repurposed airport hanger in Monterey, CA, the world caught its first glimpse of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata tonight, and I was fortunate enough to attend in person along with my fellow auto media colleagues, Mazda execs, a couple hundred Miata devotees and, oddly, a fair number of Duran Duran fans. The klieg lights have dimmed, Simon Le Bon is no longer ringing in my ears, and I'm left to ponder what I've seen. I've scavenged my notes - and my Twitter feed - to give you some details and brief thoughts.
Fair Warning: I can't claim to be completely impartial (I own a second-generation NB and consider the Miata franchise to be one of but a few sacrosanct franchises in modern motoring), but I will share my honest first impressions of the new car, both good and bad.
Here are my notes:

Mazda engineers urging execs for more RWD models

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

According to Edmunds, Mazda engineers are pressuring the company to create more rear-wheel-drive models, in an effort to better differentiate itself from its rivals. This push is reportedly coming from middle and senior engineers within the company, and these folks at Mazda believe this rear-drive strategy would allow the automaker to produce more distinctive, fun to drive cars. Mazda discontinued the rear-drive (and rotary-engined) RX-8 a few years ago, leaving the MX-5 Miata as the company's only RWD offering.
As enthusiasts, we're fully on board with Mazda offering more rear-drive cars, but unsurprisingly, the company's top management isn't exactly keen on the idea - and with good reason. First and foremost, the cost associated with redesigning fresh architecture for new models would be very high, and considering the fact that Mazda hasn't exactly been raking in the dough lately, an expensive new venture like this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What's more, Mazda's latest front-drive models - the Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 - have been very well-received, and are helping the company gain sales momentum.
But that doesn't mean there aren't other options. Edmunds reminds us that Mazda is already partnering with Alfa Romeo on the next-generation Miata, and if this collaboration is successful, perhaps the relationship could bear additional fruit. After all, Alfa Romeo is said to be working on returning to its rear-wheel-drive roots, so Mazda's engineers might be able to make a case for more RWD goodness after all.
