These are the things I am aware of. 2 Rims have scratches from curb. Scratch on driver's side of rear bumper cover. small dent passenger side door. small dent passenger side front fender. missing plastic that goes on bottom side of front bumper and fender wells. their is some cracking on passenger side of dash from sun damage. the driver's side curtain air bag needs to be replaced. (have found several here on Ebay for $100 or less)small tear at seam of driver seat."

Apologies beforehand, I am not familiar with selling on Ebay, and I am not a car dealer. I just need to sell this car to buy a family size car. I have tried to be as specific and upfront as possible.
2004 Mazda RX-8 with 119,200 miles. 6 speed manual transmission. The color is Brilliant Black, with black leather interior and carpet.  The car is sitting on 18" American Racing "Casino" wheels. They have gloss black/polished finish. The rims and tires are only about 6 months old. About 3500 miles on them. Has power sliding sunroof, factory alarm with key fob that locks/unlocks doors as well as pops the trunk.  Factory CD player with Bose speakers.  The CD player and speakers really aren't worth bragging about. I had intended to replace with aftermarket but it was going to be too expensive to do so, and I decided to buy new rims and tires rather than waste the money on a stereo.
I can send additional pictures to you personally if needed. just contact me with your phone number or email address.
I purchased this car in 2010 and knew nothing about Mazda's or rotary engines. I soon found out they are a little different than american sports cars. The mazda rx8 runs on premium fuel. If you use regular unleaded the car will not run very good, will most likely stall and possibly cause internal engine damage. So that is a definite no no.  Another important thing is to check the oil level with each fuel purchase, or at least once every two weeks.  I use Castrol GTX 5w-30 for high mileage every 3000 miles.

The early model RX-8's had several minor problems from the factory, there were quite a few recalls out for various things. Many had to have the engine replaced. Mine does not have the low compression problem. It runs very  good. No lack of power. And as far as I know it is the original engine.  OF the recalls and common problems I am aware of the only ones this car was affected by are the faulty coolant level sensor in the coolant reservoir.  The float in the tank absorbed coolant and sank rather than float. So when you had the proper amount of coolant it would still read low coolant. I simply unplugged the sensor rather than replace the faulty tank.  My reason for doing this is that the car does not overheat or leak coolant so I have no reason to worry about the coolant level sensor. Also I stay on top of the fluid levels in my cars and don't need a computer to tell me when to check things. The only other known problem is with the RX-8 factory stereos. They are notorious for having buttons that stop working. The screen also does some crazy things sometimes. The radio and cd player work just fine, never had a problem. But the button to set the clock doesn't seem to work and every so often the screen where the time and radio station are displayed will blink/flash rapidly.  I have only seen it do this 3 times since I have owned the car. Like I said earlier, the factory stereo is nothing to brag about, It should be replaced with a real stereo and some good speakers anyways. I just didn't want to do it because at the time the adapter needed for aftermarket stereos in the RX-8 was nearly $200.00 by itself.

As for the condition and history of this car, I purchased it in 2010. I ran an autocheck report on it prior to buying and found out that it had been a lease vehicle for most of its life with no accidents on the history. It was then sold at auction and ended up being owned by an individual.  This individual hit a curb which bent a rim tore the plastic under the fender well and caused the driver's side curtain airbag to deploy. There was no major damage to the car. I bought it in this condition I repaired the headliner where it was pushed out from the airbag, and I bought a set of used factory RX-8 wheels to use temporarily. A few months later I ordered a brand new set of 18" American Racing wheels and purchase new tires as well as had a front wheel alignment done.   This is my girlfriend's daily driver and thanks to the drive-thru's at What a burger and Jack n the Box two of the new rims have some scratches on them. They are still good looking wheels.  There is a spot a couple inches long on the driver's side of rear bumper where someone rubbed it in a parking lot. Their insurance paid $500 which wasn't enough to cover a new bumper so I used it to purchase the new tires and left the scratch.  About 6 months ago a teenager changed lanes without looking and bumped the passenger side rear quarter panel. It made a small dent and scuffed up the paint. No major damage. It was repaired with lifetime warranty on paint work.  These are the only "accidents" or types of damage that I am aware of.  Neither of which caused enough damage to be considered and accident by insurance standards.
The current autocheck report shows no accidents, but does state that the car had 155,xxx miles when it was last inspected in March 2013. This is not accurate. The car had 115,xxx miles. The mileage has not been altered in anyway. This is an entry mistake on behalf of the person that did the emission testing. He was in a hurry, because I had brought the car in several times while trying to figure out which sensor was causing the engine light to come on and cause the fail.
I live in Joshua, TX and can not ship the vehicle. You must make arrangements to inspect, or test drive the car and pick it up upon sale. I may be willing to meet in surrounding cities. IF you have any questions feel free to contact me here, or you can send me an email at kaurik311@gmail.com or call or text 817-679-1793  Jon

License Plates will be removed prior to sale. You must plan to immediately transfer ownership upon purchasing.

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic

Mon, Oct 24 2016

Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?

Sat, Mar 26 2016

High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.
