For auction a 1993 Mazda RX-7, twin turbo, rotary just rebuilt, 000 miles on it, you will need to run slow for up to 1000 miles to let the brake-in miles. The story in the engine is that was blown out and I decided to buy a Japanese import engine with less than 40,000 miles in eBay, but it was standard transmission engine and the rear plate won't fit the automatic transmission, so I was forced to invest extra money to open the engine and install a new kit of gasket, seals, apex seals, etc. Nice 3 piece 18" staggered wheels (wider in the rear), that I will paint red outer rim. Power steering, power locks, fog lights, power windows. Leather tan interiors in good shape, no rips or tears combined with black finish details. Interior plastics restored and painted stainless steel finish on the center console, dashboard and doors hand-rest. Red custom gauge faces in cluster. The car has the stock stereo/cassette CD player in good shape, which is perfect for someone that wants to collect the car original. Aftermarket side skirts and front signal lights in front bumper, bolted on. Slick headlights with halo lights (like BMW's). The driver door and side mirrors are already painted with PPG base and clear coats. The rest of the body is primed ready to receive a fresh paint job. I will give you the PPG paint code to match it. Stock engine never raced with stock filter and exhaust in good shape. I want it out of my garage, so I have it locally listed and I have the right to stop the auction if the reserve is not met. The buyer is responsible for the shipping. The stock Mazda RX-7, 16" wheels are not included in the auction. The RX-7 with front mounted intercooler and wide body is not included in the auction. It is just to show how the red RX-7 is going to look like with red outer rims. The cluster dashboard cover and the center console have black suede upholstery done, which is nice. The electric antenna and rear passenger side marker are installed in the car, they are just not shown in the picture at that moment. But it Now for $9,600 OBO. $2,500 invested just in the engine, I have some receipts. The bad: it is leaking power steering in the boot and maybe some other oil on top of the exhaust system that is creating smoke around the manifold. Also the A/C needs to be re-charged with Freon. Also the lighting inside and outside the car is not working because of some wiring not connected properly or some fuse. It might need fine tuning to get it perfect, because it is a new rebuilt engine with zero miles. The line shown in the trunk needs to be installed, it goes in the exhaust piping. If the car doesn't get sold I will fix the flaws mentioned and I will finish the paint job and re-list it for $12,500. So take advantage of this deal now!

Recharge Wrap-up: Mazda, Subaru and Toyota PHEV, Nomadic Power grant
Sat, Jun 20 2015The next generation of the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid looks to be important for Mazda and Subaru as well. Toyota will likely need to sell more of the new plug-in hybrid to meet stricter ZEV standards in California. That means it will get more extra electric range, as customers have been asking for. Subaru and Mazda will also have to adhere to the California standards beginning in 2018. Those two smaller automakers will likely license a plug-in hybrid powertrain from Toyota in order to fulfill compliance. Read more at Green Car Reports. Tesla is partnering with Dalhousie University to improve battery technology. Tesla signed a five-year research agreement with Dalhousie's Jeff Dahn, a lithium-ion battery researcher. Dahn and the 25 researchers in his lab will work with Tesla's Director of Battery Technology, Kurt Kelty, to increase capacity through improved materials. The collaboration could be important both for Tesla's automotive and stationary batteries. "Our research group's goal is to increase the energy density and lifetime of Li-ion batteries, so we can drive down costs in automotive and grid energy storage applications," says Dahn. Read more from Dalhousie University. Nomadic Power is receiving a European Commission grant worth ˆ2 million (about $2.26 million) for trailer-mounted mobile batteries. Nomadic Power's mobile batteries, called Nomads, have incorporated photovoltaic systems and can be used to extend the electric driving range of a plug-in vehicle, or to provide backup power to a home. The Nomads use an intelligent energy management system to learn and predict user behavior and manage the solar system based on weather forecasts. "We see a strong future in electric-powered mobility and an increasing use of renewable energy, photovoltaic power in particular," says Nomadic Power CEO Dr. Manfred Baumgaertner. "Our mobile batteries have great potential in these markets that recently got a significant shot in the arm by Tesla's announcements." Read more from Nomadic Power, and at Green Car Congress. Modded budget Mazda Miata takes on new Porsche Boxster in more challenges
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Earlier this month, our friends across the pond at Auto Express released the first in a two-video series that would see them try and build up a second-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata that could best a standard Porsche Boxster around the track. While that first video detailed the mods to the MX-5 - a supercharger, some suspension upgrades and a new set of super-sticky rubber being chief among them - and set baseline lap times for the stock car, today, we have the results of the 5,000-pound ($8,200) upgrade job.
Of course, we aren't going to spoil those for you. You'll need to watch the full video, which recaps the upgrades before digging into a comparison of both straight-line-speed differences between the 2.7-liter Porsche Boxster and blown Miata, as well as their behavior and lap times on the track.
Take a look and let us know what you think in Comments.
Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?
Thu, 25 Sep 2014People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
