1990 Mazda RX-7 Low Miles, All Original, Unmolested.

This is a private owned, very nice 1990 Mazda RX-7.  Very hard to find an original, unmolested, car like this.  It has been in the same family for roughly 20 years.  Let me bullet point some of the highlights.

  • 1990 Model
  • Original Black Paint- Garage Kept most of its life.  Paint is in excellent shape for the year.
  • 86,000 Original Miles.
  • Runs and Drives Great
  • Newer Tires
  • Everything works as it should.  AC was charged this summer but did leak off.
  • Cruise, all power.

I'm by no means an "expert" on RX7's.  I have no intention of misrepresenting this car. It is a 24 year old car, that has not been messed around with.  It is by no means perfect, but is in very nice condition.  I would say you would be pressed to find one as nice, in this price range, that is all original.

I highly encourage you to come and see this car for yourself.  Although, I'm a car guy, and know sports cars very well.  We have a collection of older muscle cars, Corvettes, etc.  This is one nice car.  It has been preserved very nicely over the years, and is sure to make it's new owner happy.

Please note in Picture 19 the second to last one, the reflection on the hood is the clouds.  After I uploaded the pictures I noticed that it looked odd and wanted to make sure that was clear.

I'm setting the buy it now @ $5,500.  What do you buy for $5,500 dollars these days?

Here is my disclaimer.  This is a used car.  All inspections are welcome before the auction is over.  Payment is CASH only.  Once cash is received, we have a clear West Virginia title to hand over to you.  The car is sold in AS-IS condition, with no warranty.

God Bless!

Next Mazda MX-5 Miata to weigh a ton(ne), literally

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

Looking at recent spy shots of the fourth-generation Mazda Miata, it's obvious this sporty little roadster will grow in size compared to the current model, but it's also going on a diet. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Auto Motor und Sport sat down with Mazda executive Kiyoshi Fujiwara, who gave a little more insight into the Miata's redesign.
Fujiwara said that they're aiming for a curb weight of a tonne (metric ton), which is 1,000 kilograms or right around 2,200 pounds, for the next-generation Miata. This would make the roadster at least 300 pounds lighter than the current NC Miata, but still about 200 pounds heavier than the original NA.
There is no indication as to how Mazda will go about removing that much weight from the bigger car, but with as popular as the power retractable hard top (PHRT) model is on the current car, the new Miata may ditch this feature to lose its weight. Improving the power-to-weight ratio appears to be a key goal of the Mazda team, so we also wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful engine underneath the longer hood.

Mazda going back to oval grille with next MX-5 Miata

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

The original Mazda MX-5 Miata was distinguished by an oval grille - a design trait that gradually evolved into the smiling cat face on the latest model. But Mazda, according to the latest intel, is planning on returning to that oval grille with the new model in the works.
The revised grille will cap a slightly longer form than models past, while still keeping weight down to a minimum. The stretched wheelbase was reportedly adopted in order to meet the requirements of Alfa Romeo, which is jointly developing the new platform together with Mazda for use on a new roadster of its own.
The new Miata is expected to adopt the 1.5-liter Skyactiv four found in the Mazda3, albeit returned to rev higher and deliver more power and torque, mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic. The Alfa version, meanwhile, is expected to use a 1.4-liter turbo four with a dual-clutch transmission. Sources anticipate the new MX-5 to debut first, possibly at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show a little less than a year from now.

Bauer Catfish is a Miata-based trackstar in the making [w/videos]

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

We're not trying to make a joke here. The creation you see above really is called the Bauer Catfish, and while the name is about as attractive as your average bottom feeder, the car itself is built on a sexy notion. Take the mechanical bits of one 1990-2005 Mazda MX-5 Miata, add in a tube chassis for as little weight as possible, complete with some custom body work and go forth. Bauer says the finished product weighs in at just 1,550 pounds, and the company will be happy to pull the stock four-cylinder to drop in a healthy General Motors LS V8.
The pre-production prototype shown above competed in last year's 25 Hours of Thunderhill, finished the race and earned a spot on the podium in the "anything goes for sports racers" ESR class. Very cool.
If you're looking for a dedicated track car, it may not get any better than this for the money. Expect to pay around $13,900 depending on options, plus the cost of your donor Miata. That's a good sight cheaper than a used Chevy Corvette Z06 and likely to be quite a bit more fun. After you're done watching it in action in the brief videos below, check it out over at Bauer Ltd.
