1988 Rx7 Convertible With A 10ae T2 Conversion on 2040-cars
Cibolo, Texas, United States
This is not a real 10th Anniversary (10AE) Turbo 2, this project is the car that Mazda should have made, complete it and you will have the first.
The donor car was a 1988 10AE Turbo II
The recipient car is a 1988 Convertible, white with black interior(from 89 convertible). (the most ideal recipient!)
All 10AE specific items used in this conversion include the following:
•Turbo Engine, ECU, Harness, and components
•Turbo Tranny and Driveshaft
•Turbo rear end, Axles, and Hubs
•Turbo Cluster
•10AE/Canadian Headlight Switch (for headlight washer button)
•Headlight washers and reservoir
•10AE Horn button
•10AE Badging
•10AE Wheels
•Door panels
•Front and Rear Bumper Covers
•Side molding
modified parts
•Stock convertible taillights painted white
•Have original 10 AE wing but it will need to be modified to be used on a convertible
•convertible seats are retained(turbo seats available if you want them instead but still need to be redone), but they will be done in leather like that in the Coupe, instead of the perforated leather that comes on the convertible seats
I started with a white 1988 Convertible Rx-7, I used this car as a daily driver for 3 years. I removed the NA 13B engine, Transmission and suspension and installed a good used S4 T2 Engine. From a 10AE T2 donor car I used the Front bumper with the Headlight washer system, front fenders with 10AE badges, 10AE Rims, complete suspension, transmission, and rear end. Black interior combination of 10AE and 1989 convertible Rx7 all black, including good 10AE steering wheel. Car is 75% completed. The engine is running and has been completely wired in.
What needs work. The Convertible top works mechanism and motors good but vinyl has small tears and will need replaced. needs radio surround, needs 10AE specific shifter. Seats need to be recovered, Standard convertible seats or T2 your choice I have both. Needs complete exhaust. Will need tires ones on car are good for shipping only.
I was building this as I would think that Mazda would have had they produced a convertible version of the 10AE. Sold as is, this is a running car will need some parts(exhaust, tires) but could be licensed and on the street in a few days or the projected completed by you in less than one week.
I realize this is a unfinished project but the hard work has been done, even at the buy it now price I am losing money. My loss is your gain.

This map reveals the cleanest vehicles based on location
Thu, Apr 28 2016Naysayers love to point out how dirty the electricity grid mix is when it comes to charging electric vehicles. Curmudgeons are eager to jump into any conversation about EVs to enlighten the lucky listeners about how plug-in cars contribute to pollution, sometimes even throwing in a dash of climate-change denial for good measure. (Thanks, buddy. Pray, tell me more about the plight of oppressed SUV owners.) Unless someone buys an EV just because they think they're cool (which, yeah, they often are), they probably have at least a passable understanding of their environmental pros and cons. As many EV owners are already aware, location has a lot to do with any particular plug-in car's carbon footprint. Still, there's always more to know, and knowledge is not a bad thing, especially if one uses it to do the right thing. That's why this handy-dandy map from Carnegie Mellon University is so interesting. CMU researchers have compiled information about the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of various EVs based on where they're charged, as compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. The researchers looked at the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, and Prius Plug-In Hybrid versus the gasoline-dependent Toyota Prius hybrid and the stop-start-equipped Mazda3 with i-ELOOP and compared grams of CO2 emitted per mile. CMU takes into account the grid mix, ambient temperature, and driving patterns. CMU takes into account the grid mix based on county, as well as ambient temperature and driving patterns in terms of miles traveled on the highway or in the city. For instance, if you drive a Nissan Leaf in urban areas of California, Texas, or Florida, your carbon footprint is lower than it would be if you were driving a standard Toyota Prius. However, if you charge your Leaf in the Midwest or the South, for the most part, you've got a larger carbon footprint than the Prius. If you live in the rural Midwest, you'd probably even be better off driving a Mazda3. Throughout the country, the Chevrolet Volt has a larger carbon footprint than the Toyota Prius, but a smaller one than the Mazda3 in a lot of urban counties in the US. The Prius and Prius Plug-In are relatively equal across the US. Having trouble keeping it straight? That's not surprising. The comparisons between plug-in and gasoline vehicles are much more nuanced than the loudest voices usually let on.
Junkyard Gem: 2004 Mazda RX-8
Tue, Oct 4 2016You know when a type of vehicle has reached its value tipping point (where it's not worth fixing up a broken or crashed one) when examples of it begin showing up in the big American self-service wrecking yards. During 2016, the BMW Z3 and Mazda RX-8 reached that point and began to appear, just one at a time, here and there, but obviously they were the advance scouts for many to follow. Such cars usually get picked over in a hurry ... at first. Here's a well-stripped example of a first-year RX-8 I found earlier this year in a Denver yard. Some RX-7 owner probably nabbed the Renesis engine right away, and then the guys who grab late-model parts to flog on eBay were next. Still, plenty of interesting components remained on this car when I photographed it, and RX-8s that end up here in a year or two won't get swarmed by the vultures anywhere near as quickly. Does that mean that RX-8s are now cheap enough to race in the 24 Hours of LeMons? Could be! Mazda2 sedan debuting in Thailand this month?
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Mazda is reportedly set to introduce a Mazda2 with a four-door sedan body. Unlike the upcoming CX-3, which is debuting at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and is almost certain to be sold in North America, this other version's chance here are a bit more mysterious.
According to The Bangkok Post, the Mazda2 sedan will make its word debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo on November 28, and the traditional five-door hatch will be there as well. Both body styles will be built in Thailand with diesel engines and will be the first vehicles to adhere to the country's eco-car rules for oil-burners with a SkyActiv 1.5-liter diesel that will make 105 horsepower.
At this time, there's no indication whether the new sedan might also be sold in the US, but we're not holding our breath - remember, the previous Mazda2 sedan never made it Stateside, either.
