1988 Mazda RX-7 GXL
Original owner bought on 8/14/88 and its been a great car ever since.
Red exterior in great shape. It has a small dent on the drivers side back and a few little dings on the hood from pine cones falling out of my tree. It has a few paint chips on the front bumper and someone stole the lens off the drives side front bumper.( If you are reading this and it was you Thanks)
No rust at all anywhere the frame and floors are perfect.
Interior is in great shape and all original with the factory radio. The A/C does not blow cold and needs a charge. Everything else works as it should.
The car has 84,000 original miles on the factory engine. I just installed a new exhaust system with original mufflers..
4 Dunlop sport tires like new
The car is in great shape and will give someone years of enjoyment. Drive it anywhere its reliable and a blast to drive.
Please do not bid if you are not going to follow through with the deal. I'm sure you will not find a better one for what my reserve is set at.
Good luck bidding.

Mazda CEO closes door on talk of RX sports car revival
Mon, 10 Nov 2014Some rumors in the auto industry simply refuse to die. Over the last decade, a few of the strongest have focused on Japan. A few years ago, we could have explained away the constant whispering over a new Toyota Supra, Acura NSX or Mazda RX-7 as nostalgia for Japan's golden era of performance. Today, though is different.
We already have the Nissan GT-R, and, thanks to the Toyota FT-1 Concept, a Supra successor finally appears to be on the way. Acura will someday, allegedly, deliver on its promise to put the NSX on sale. So where does that leave the third member of the Japanese performance trio mentioned above? Well, um, it still isn't happening.
"We don't have that kind of vehicle in our future product plan," Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogai told Automotive News when asked about a successor to the rotary-powered RX line. "If you increase the number of segments, then the resources we can allocate to each will decline and that will prevent us from developing truly good products."
Mazda delays US launch of Skyactiv-D engine
Thu, 09 Jan 2014Japanese automakers haven't lead the charge towards diesel power in the same way as, say, the Germans have. But Mazda is out to change that. It has been following Audi's lead on the racetrack with oil-burning racecars right here in America, and will soon translate that excitement to the road by introducing its Skyactiv-D engine in North America. It just won't happen as soon as we expected.
Mazda announced today that, while its diesel engine meets current emissions requirements, the company has decided once again to push back an introduction originally slated to kick off in the Spring. According to the brief statement below, Mazda wants to take more time to find "the right balance between fuel economy and Mazda-appropriate driving performance."
In other words, the Zoom-Zoom brand apparently thinks its diesel engine doesn't deliver the zoom-zoom American drivers would expect, so we'll have to wait just a little bit longer. Details to follow closer to launch, whenever that will ultimately take place.
Road & Track to take Miata on million-mile march
Sat, 11 Jan 2014Road & Track has taken on a Miata project. One hell of a project, if we're honest. You see, the Miata in question, a 1989 example in Mariner Blue, isn't a high-mileage Mazda that the publication intends to fix up, or make race-worthy, or try to flip or give away to a reader or something. No, it's a rather typical well-used NA, with a hefty 325,000 miles on the clock to-date that the staff plans on driving until the six-digit odo reads all zeros again. One million miles or bust (or both, most likely).
Procured for the bargain-basement price of $1,600, complete with seat covers that "really do look like muppet pelts" (according to Zach Bowman) and a bondo-filled love tap on the nose, the NA Miata actually looks like just the sort of fun-machine that a real driving enthusiast would pick up to get some cheap thrills in. The R&T team already has some interesting plans for the Miata, including a potential run up Pikes Peak and loaning it out to readers (or perhaps your author...). Click through to read all about it.
