Up for sale is a great condition 84' GSL-SE for a friend in Virginia Beach, VA
My friend after purchasing this beauty and storing for a year has decided he has way-y-y too many toys and not enough time to play with them all (you ought to see his 3rd Gen...d-r-o-o-o-l...) Here's the story the car's previous owner is a mutual friend, who had a bit of trouble getting it to idle properly. Previous owner tinkered with it and concluded it was a vacuum leak or bad intake manifold gasket. Before he got a chance to service, the current owner fell in love and wanted to purchase it then and there...and wouldn't take no for an answer. Some of you here know just what I'm talking about. The deal was made and that same day the tow truck Co. towed it to the enclosed storage and there it sat while he accumulated even more toys... did I mention he got a bad ass 3rd Gen? Back to the car in question... This GSL-SE has 165K on the clock but you would never guess that by looking at the car. On top of that this car runs strong on a Mazda re-manufactured engine with with unknown miles. Her's a quick list of all the goodies and upgrades that are on this car per the previous owner: 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE 1. No rust California Car 2. Never been hit or any other accidents. 3. Strong healthy 13B fuel injected engine, showing 110 psi on both rotors 4. No leaks anywhere 5. Power steering equipped car 6. Heavy duty performance clutch and pressure plate 7. Racing Beat strut tower brace 8. Racing Beat braided oil cooler lines 9. Cold Air Intake with K&N filter 10. Cross drilled and solid rotors 11. Suspension Techniques Springs 12. Tokico blue struts and shocks 13. 15x7 Panasports Racing Wheels 14. Yokohama tires 15. New poly suspension bushings all around 16. Braided brake lines and clutch line. 17. New hydraulics (Clutch slave cylinder, slave cylinder reservoir, master cylinder) 18. Just recently cleaned rebuilt factory 680cc injectors from RC engineering 19. New fuel pump and fuel filter 20. New A/C Compressor 21. New radiator 22. New alternator 23. Accel coils and wires 24. Exceptional grey interior. 25. All power accessories work on the car 26. Newer Mazda CD/cassette/radio installed 27. Clifford Alarm System In addition... as a BONUS you'll also get a RB header and pre-silencer that he was planning on installing on the car. So there you have it folks a great car in need of a lil' TLC looking for a loving home. As stated previously, car runs but wont idle properly. I will try to record a video of it this week and post online for all to see. For full size pics click on: HERE |

Mazda starts production of new MX-5 Miata in Japan
Thu, Mar 5 2015We often regard a new model as having arrived when its manufacturer reveals it for the first time. But you might argue that nothing is official until actual production gets underway. And that's just what's happened now with the new Mazda MX-5. The fourth-generation Miata was unveiled a few months ago, and now the first examples have begun to roll off the assembly line at Mazda's Ujina plant in Hiroshima. The first ones are set to stay in Japan, where the new roadster is being introduced initially. Deliveries are set to launch in June. After that, we can expect the new MX-5 to proliferate to markets around the world, including our own. To date Mazda has sold more than 950,000 of its little roadsters, making it the best-selling two-seat sports car in the world. It shouldn't be long, then, before the new model tips it past the million-unit mark. 2015/03/05 Mazda Starts Production of All-new Mazda MX-5 HIROSHIMA, Japan-Mazda Motor Corporation today began production of the all-new Mazda MX-5 two-seater lightweight sports car (known as Mazda Roadster in Japan) at Ujina Plant No.1 in Hiroshima. The first models produced are destined for the Japanese market. Sales of the all-new MX-5 will begin in Japan around June this year and interested buyers can make an appointment for pre-sale discussions through a dedicated website from noon on Friday, March 20. Following sales start in Japan, the MX-5 will be progressively rolled out to overseas markets. The MX-5 is an iconic model representing Mazda's vehicle engineering philosophy: the pursuit of driving pleasure. With production exceeding 950,000 units as of the end of January 2015, the MX-5 continues to hold the Guinness World Record for the world's best-selling two-seater sports car. In order to respond to ever increasing demands for safety features and environmental performance while maintaining the element of fun that has always defined the model, development of the fourth generation MX-5 was carried out under the motto "innovate in order to preserve". In addition to incorporating SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and KODO-Soul of Motion design, development focused on enhancing the senses and sensations through which people enjoy cars. Moving forward, Mazda will continue to enrich the lives of its customers through a variety of touch points including the production of high-quality vehicles, and become a brand that maintains a special bond with its customers. MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
Mazda3 sedan revealed by Top Gear Russia [w/poll]
Wed, 03 Jul 2013Thanks to our comrades at Top Gear Russia, the trickling reveal of the Mazda3 sedan has begun. We saw the hatch in person in New York (and loved it), and we wanted to see if the trunked version could hold onto the same mojo. If you like the Mazda6, then you should like the Mazda3 because it takes just about everything from its toothsome big brother and shrinks it into a compact package.
Top Gear Russia was allowed to share photographs of the Mazda sedan they call "Treshka" (or they leaked them, depending on whom you talk to), but not their drive impressions. The site page says it will come in four trims for the Russian market - Drive, Active, Active+ and Supreme - and offer three engines. Our specifications will certainly differ. Other than that, all we have to go on are the looks, which some may argue are even better than the hatch thanks to a trunk line that provides more balance to that long hood up front.
The Mazda3 will go on sale later this year and US prices should be announced in September. For the time being, content yourself with the gallery of high-res images above.
