1979 Mazda Rx-7 Mint 13b Street, Autocross Or Show! No Rust Never Damaged. on 2040-cars
Lake Zurich, Illinois, United States
VERY SPECIAL 1979 RX7 W/BULLETPROOF 13B LASER STRAIGHT I'll do my best to describe this very unique RX7 but I'm sure there are things I will forget to mention...so here goes. The car gets massive attention everywhere it goes! It has won a trophy in import class at every car show i have entered it in (8-10). It is super competitive autocross events. I have won 1 first place but usually finish 2nd or 3rd because the driver is not as great as the car. It is a pleasure to drive down the road smooth and straight. It sounds soooo good with that rotary buzz. The suspension is setup a little hard for optimum handleing. The air conditioning was removed for weight reasons. If you wanted to install it back the parts are readily available on Ebay and all ducts are there. The heat works great. There are aftermarket oil pressure, oil temp, water temp. and air/fuel ratio gauges. All stock gauges and lights work as they should. The interior is perfect with new Mazda Speed seats. New premium windshield. The pics tell the story. The engine was built by Hayes Rotary Engineering at a cost of 4912.00. The header and intake are Racing Beat w/a Delorto Carb. The ignition is a MSD/direct fire w/3 MSD coils. This engine is capable of 10,000 RPM! The 5 speed trans and HP clutch are excellent. The tires are about 5 years old and are 205/45/16 on newer rims, I forgot the brand. The car does not leak a drop of anything and runs at 180 in the hottest weather. The car also has Tokico Lumina shocks all around, adjustable in front. The fronr end is completely new. 1984 SE posi rear end and front struts/brakes. That about covers it. I do not have a video or anymore pics. The car is back on rollers double covered in the garage. I really love this car but just don't get a chance to drive it very much, I have 3 other toy cars and a shifter go kart and I'm a 50 y.o. kid. There is a file full of receipts, pics and manuals. No BS please. Sold as is with no warranty. Car averages 25MPG on regular. The price is superfair and will not be considering offers right away. The car is also listed locally. Thank for looking. |

2017.5 Mazda6 gives you more for the same money
Mon, Oct 2 2017The current Mazda6 has been around since the 2014 model year, but Mazda continues to update it and make it more enticing. For this midyear update that's earned the "2017.5" model year stamp, Mazda has added more standard features to both the base model Sport and midlevel Touring models. The Sport model now comes with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard features. The Touring model picks up navigation and heated seats as standard equipment. You can also opt for 8-way power leather seats on the Touring as well. If the extra features weren't enough, Mazda doesn't charge anything extra for the trim levels. All the base prices remain the same. The cheapest Sport model, which comes with a manual transmission, still starts at $22,820. The cheapest Touring model, again with a manual transmission, keeps its starting price of $25,070. Aside from a nice addition of features for no extra cost, there's something else interesting about the 2017.5 Mazda6, and that's the model year itself. The last time Mazda used a half-year designation was for the 2016.5 CX-5. It was the last model year of the previous generation CX-5, with the completely redesigned model launching for 2017. This leads us to believe that we may be seeing a completely new Mazda6 for the 2018 model year, with a reveal sometime within a year. It's possible Mazda could just do a significant refresh for 2018 as well, but the 6 also is the next model due for a complete redesign. And since the folks at Mazda have told us they're in the process of thoroughly updating the lineup again, we would lean toward the likelihood of a completely new car rather than a refresh. Next Mazda MX-5 Miata to weigh a ton(ne), literally
Wed, 27 Nov 2013Looking at recent spy shots of the fourth-generation Mazda Miata, it's obvious this sporty little roadster will grow in size compared to the current model, but it's also going on a diet. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Auto Motor und Sport sat down with Mazda executive Kiyoshi Fujiwara, who gave a little more insight into the Miata's redesign.
Fujiwara said that they're aiming for a curb weight of a tonne (metric ton), which is 1,000 kilograms or right around 2,200 pounds, for the next-generation Miata. This would make the roadster at least 300 pounds lighter than the current NC Miata, but still about 200 pounds heavier than the original NA.
There is no indication as to how Mazda will go about removing that much weight from the bigger car, but with as popular as the power retractable hard top (PHRT) model is on the current car, the new Miata may ditch this feature to lose its weight. Improving the power-to-weight ratio appears to be a key goal of the Mazda team, so we also wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful engine underneath the longer hood.
