1979 Mazda Rx-7 Gs Coupe 2-door 1.1l, Seahawks Plate! Rx 7 Rotary Sports Car 12a on 2040-cars
When is the last time you saw this iconic sports car on the road?! I was pretty excited to find this very special 1979 Mazda RX7. The gal I bought it from had owned the car since new, but when family matters (kids) got in the way, she parked the car around 1994. There it stayed garaged for 20 years until she decided to part with it. The car is completely stock and unmodified. Still sporting it's shiny mostly original paint and black vinyl interior in excellent shape. This is a highly optioned car, fitted with sunroof, AC and auto transmission. 1979 is the first year of the RX7, and the only year in it's pure form. From 1980 RX7 received numerous revisions to the body and mechanical systems. This is an unmolested car without any modifications whatsoever. The body is very straight and 100% rust free. It appears the passenger side fender was repainted at some point. Sunroof can be opened, or removed completely. Original storage pouch and wind deflector are present. New hatch struts. Windshield has a crack down low. Interior is perfect with the only flaw being 2 tears in the vinyl seats. Dash is perfect. All electrical system is in working order, including AC. Engine starts right up and has plenty of power, it smokes a bit upon cold startup, but clears up after a minute of driving. According to the research I've done this is quite normal for older rotaries, and does not pose a problem. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears, and really is quite sporty! Original alloy wheels with a matching spare in the trunk. Tires are older, but have full tread and hold air just fine. Braking system has new master cylinder, brake pads and flushed with new fluid. Radiator has new hoses, coolant system flush and new fluid. Pressure tested and in good order. Car always holds good temperature regardless of driving condition. New alternator, all belts, spark plugs and a fresh oil change. In short, this is a very original survivor, that is road ready and can be enjoyed as-is, or restored to full glory. My intent was to have the windshield replaced (quoted $150) and have the car painted, but plans have changed and I must concentrate on other projects. I hope this deserving car gets to a true enthusiast who will fully appreciate it. I have clear title in my name, and can arrange shipping anywhere in US if needed at buyer's expense. Thank you

2014 Mazda3 officially rated at 30/41 mpg, priced from $16,945*
Wed, 24 Jul 2013It's hard not to be smitten with the 2014 Mazda3; after all, just look at it. But beyond its slick lines, we found the new compact hatch to be a pretty remarkable steer, offering up good levels of comfort and refinement, not to mention functionality and engagement. Now, there's more reason to like the 2014 Mazda3, as we've just learned that the car will officially be rated at 30 miles per gallon city and 41 mpg highway.
That 30/41 rating is for the Mazda3 sedan fitted with the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G inline four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Opting for the manual transmission retains the 41-mpg highway number, but drops the city digits to 29. Hatchback models with the 2.0-liter engine achieve 29/40 mpg with the manual 'box and 30/40 with the automatic.
Mazda also offers a larger 2.5-liter inline-four in the 3, and while a six-speed automatic will be the only transmission available with this engine at launch, the automaker has confirmed that a manual is coming shortly. With the 6AT and 2.5, the Mazda3 sedan is rated at 28/39 mpg, or 29/40 with the company's i-Eloop regenerative braking system. Hatchback models shrink those numbers to 28/37 and 29/39 mpg, with and without i-Eloop, respectively.
Surprise! 2017 Mazda MX-5 RFs are already being delivered
Tue, Nov 22 2016Last month, when Mazda opened up ordering for Launch Editions of the MX-5 RF, the company estimated that cars would arrive in February. Well, today Mazda announced that some changes in production scheduling meant that MX-5 RFs are ready sooner than expected. In fact, Mazda already delivered an RF to a customer. The company delivered the first MX-5 RF Launch Edition in America last week to Dave Putter. He got the keys from Masahiro Moro, president and CEO of Mazda North America Operations, at the LA auto show last week. More RFs are coming, too. Mazda says that about 500 more will arrive across the country in December. Mazda also said that availability will expand throughout the winter and spring months. So, for people who've ordered a Launch Edition, it looks like you may get an early holiday gift. And for those waiting to check out normal ones in dealers, you won't have to wait much longer. R&T chases down a burglar in the million-mile Miata
Mon, 04 Aug 2014Is the answer always Mazda Miata? We discussed this in passing on the Autoblog Podcast earlier this week, and most assuredly the answer is "no." For example, the little MX-5 would be a terrible people carrier, and it'd be useless off road. You can't really tow anything of substance with it, either. Still, if push came to shove, it's satisfying to know that the diminutive roadster could eke out a career as a chase vehicle for the police.
That fact was proven when Road & Track editor Chris Cantle did something that he himself recognizes as "stupid." Upon returning home, Cantle discovered a "twenty-something" actively burgling his home. The resulting story is easily one of the more entertaining episodes to come out of the 1990 MX-5's service to the team at R&T and, we're guessing, will be one of the highlights of the Million-Mile Miata challenge.
Be sure to head over to Road & Track for a full retelling of the chase from Cantle, as well as a follow-up on the saga.
