2002 Mazda Protege 5 Vivid Yellow Custom Leather 5 Speed Manual on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
"My Bee" has been a wonderful car for my wife for the past 5 years and has given us no mechanical problems. We are the second owners. The exceptional condition of this gas sipping 4 cylinder wagon will please it's next owner. It has a smooth shifting 5 speed manual transmission, front wheel drive, power steering, and has a peppy engine which gets over 30 mpg on the highway. The A/C keeps you cool in the summer and the soft custom black/yellow leather seats will keep you comfortable all year. Custom floor mats and cargo mat were installed to protect the carpets and brighten the interior while matching the soft custom leather seats. A custom fitted plastic cargo tray is included in the sale. Last year we replaced the front and rear brakes with Hawk HPS pads, Stoptech cross drilled rotors, and new braided lines. We replaced all of the struts with new Tokico HP struts and alignment. We also replaced the prior custom wheels with Stinger wheels and Hankook tires. All belts were also replaced at that time. The result is a wagon that handles like a dream without losing comfort and does it quietly. We invested in these items as we were going to keep the car for a long time but a change in jobs has made it necessary to buy a newer, larger, and more expensive wagon for my wife. All of the power options are in operating condition. The C/D changer skips and should be replaced but the stereo radio works fine. The interior door lock switch has moved slightly in it's channel (shown in picture of the interior drivers door) and still operates the locks well. A known problem with the Prot'eg'e is that the headlights (inexpensive) seem to blow out more often than most cars and is true with this Prot'eg'e. They are OK now. The exterior is in exceptional condition with a couple of exceptions. I pictured two small chips in the paint about the size of a pin head. One is on the driver side rear door and the other is on the edge of the driver side front wheel lip. I will touch these up before you buy the car. There is an area where the paint is scratched in front of the passenger front wheel. It is hard to see (even in the pictures in this ad) as most of it is below the visible part of the body. Again this will be touched up before the car is sold. My camera took great pictures but they are too large for ebay and these pictures were taken by my phone and are grainy. Contact me to get better pictures if needed. I am very picky about the looks and functionality of our cars and want to be honest about their condition. You will appreciate the condition of this car and enjoy it for years. Any questions...just give me a ring at 314-359-2002. I have priced it to sell fast so don't hesitate to call with your questions. 100k Mazda6 sedans recalled over tire-monitoring systems
Wed, Nov 26 2014A tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is, as you might have guessed, designed to monitor the air pressure in the tires, and alert the driver if pressure drops. But a problem found in the Mazda6 could keep the system from doing its job. According to the recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the TPMS in the Mazda6 might not recognize a loss in tire pressure if all the tires slowly deflate at the same time. Under-inflated tires, it goes without saying, could increase the risk of a crash. As a result, Mazda is recalling 99,711 examples of the 2014-2015 Mazda6 to have the system's software updated. RECALL Subject : Tire Pressure Monitoring System/FMVSS 138 Report Receipt Date: OCT 27, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V675000 Component(s): TIRES Potential Number of Units Affected: 99,711 Manufacturer: Mazda North American Operations SUMMARY: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Mazda6 vehicles manufactured October 25, 2012, to October 10, 2014. If the pressures of four of the tires on an affected vehicle gradually drop at the same time, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may not warn the driver of the drop in pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System." CONSEQUENCE: A vehicle that is driven with under inflated tires may experience a sudden tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will update the TPMS software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on December 10, 2014. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata gets 25 percent fuel economy boost
Sat, Apr 25 2015Just days after revealing full pricing and specs for each trim level of the 2016 MX-5 Miata, Mazda is spilling the beans on the roadster's fuel economy. As it turns out, the numbers show an impressive boost over the previous generation. All 2016 Miatas in the US are equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. With a six-speed manual, the EPA estimates fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon city, 34 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. Buyers choosing the six-speed automatic, which is a $1,075 option (that you should absolutely not choose), are expected to get 27 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. Compared to the previous-gen model with a six-speed manual, these latest numbers represent a 25-percent improvement in mileage. The boost in economy for the Miata likely comes from a variety of sources. Underneath the hood is one of Mazda's latest Skyactiv engines, and the loss of around 150 pounds from the last gen helps too. Production of the latest version of the famous roadster is already underway, and they should start arriving at dealers in the late summer. 2016 MAZDA MX-5 MIATA FUEL ECONOMY IMPROVES DRAMATIC 25 PERCENT VERSUS OUTGOING MODEL 24/04/15 - Mazda's Flagship Roadster Highlights Improvements Displayed by SKYACTIV Technology - IRVINE, Calif., April 24, 2015 -- Lighter, quicker and more nimble than its predecessor, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata demonstrates the power innovation can have when re-engineering a roadster from the ground up. In addition to all of the aforementioned improvements the 2016 MX-5 has, fuel economy can now be added to the list, with MX-5 achieving an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/34 mpg highway/30 mpg combined when equipped with the standard SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission (EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway/30 mpg combined when equipped with the six-speed automatic). This performance represents a 25-percent increase in fuel economy versus the 2015 MX-5's EPA-estimated fuel economy when paired with the outgoing model's available six-speed manual transmission, highlighting the benefits of SKYACTIV Technology. "SKYACTIV Technology is more than a catchphrase for Mazda; it's a total effort to increase efficiency, improve performance, safety and technology and instill each Mazda vehicle with a directness and responsiveness that's unmatched in the segments in which our vehicles compete," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations.

Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:
