Background: This car was purchased from the original owner in 2011. It has not been licensed since then. He did not need this car anymore because he was taking a job in NY City and did not want to deal with the cost of parking. The car needed a catalytic converter. Our only intention was to replace the catalytic converter and immediately sell the car. We replaced both catalytic converters and found that there was a problem with the engine. There was an actuator on the end of the camshaft that is supposed to adjust the physical position of the cam, but it was defective. Because we did not know the cause of the actuator failure and did not want to risk the same problem recurring, we found a good used engine and replaced the original engine. The work was done by an experienced mechanic. Since then, we replaced one of the coil packs, because the code reader indicated that it needed to be replaced. All four rotors were replaced this year in preparation for selling this car because they had rusted. Exterior: There are some chips in the paint along the front of the hood. The window trim on the back doors shows surface rust. There is a small hole in the lower front bumper. Other than those blemishes, the car looks good. Interior: The interior is in very good condition with virtually no signs of wear. The driver side floor mat is the most worn inside component with the other three mats in nearly new condition. There are no marks, stains, or damage to the seats or interior trim. 2016 Mazda6 gets a facelift in LA
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is a busy one for Mazda, as the Japanese brand shows off not only its all-new CX-3, but a facelifted Mazda6 sedan.
The 2016 sedan has been nipped and tucked to better fit in with newer members of the brand's range, including the aforementioned CX-3, as well as the Mazda3 and MX-5 Miata.
The grille's horizontal slats are now trimmed in chrome, while the brand's chrome wing motif on the fascia is larger and more prominent, particularly where it feeds into the headlights.
2014 Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Wagon
Thu, 21 Feb 2013This was sort of a quirky surprise drive opportunity. I've been over here in Italy for a while now, and Mazda Italia contacted me seemingly out of the blue to drive test some version of the Mazda6 with a diesel engine. Supremo. The Mazda6 is a sexy everyday beast and I have been digging their SkyActiv-D engines for a while now. Very spirited units.
My contact phones me the day of, and says he can come by with the car, and then we'll head off to some sort of special spot for dynamics testing and technical conversation. Nice deal, say I.
My guy Ernesto pulls up outside of the house and - lo and behold - it's a dang Mazda6 station wagon with the very most recent 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D motor good for 148 horsepower and healthy 280 pound-feet of torque. The wee four-banger with 14.0:1 compression ratio hauls this 3,260-pound wagon around with the best of them. A decent 0-to-60-mph time of 8.7 seconds, too.
