This MazdaSpeed3 is in Excellent condition!  I've babied & pampered this car since day one.  Never red-lined- not even close.  No mechanical problems whatsoever.  No accidents, no wrecks, no dents.  Only a few very small scratches probably from people brushing up against it, and a couple very minor bends in 2 of the wheels, I believe.  I purchased it new in 8/2008.   I added the Mazda chrome fuel door, window tinting and the rear bumper-protector at time of purchase.  I've always had a towel on the drivers seat to sit on in order to prevent any wear/aging on the upholstery. I also purchased a spare set of floor mats that are new in the wrapper so they would be new when the (sad) day came to sell it, which would be now, unfortunately.

It has been operated only on premium fuel- I've been the sole driver.  72mo/75,000 Mazda TotalCare extended warranty (transferrable) is included!...  basically covers everything except normal wear/tear.
I'm Planning a trip to Denver & back  mid August, so expect approx. 2,000 miles more if not sold by 8/14.
But wait... there's more!
In January 2010, I had the following factory-authorized modifications done by the Mazda dealership:
Added the Mazda Cold Air Intake (approx $600)
Added the Mazda Performance Exhaust System.(approx. $950).
Purchased a Cobb tuner. (paid $625.)  This is the handheld computer that allows you to tweak settings, etc.  They set it on a specific setting and it hasn't changed since.

None of these modifications affect the warranties, and I have kept most of the parts that were replaced for the cold-air intake mod, if you want them, as well as the original fuel door.
This Speed3 has only been street-driven, NEVER raced, never seen a track. Factory governed at 165, I believe, but the Cobb tuner can overwrite that.
I LOVE driving this car, so if terms are reached, I'm open to discussing a possible one-way road trip in your direction.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, and I assure you, all of the descriptions are accurate.

Crash test videos show how rust compromises safety

Fri, Apr 13 2018

These recently released Swedish videos serve as a reminder that rust isn't just a cosmetic flaw, when it comes to cars. The insurance company Folksam and the homeowner organization Villaagarnas Riksforbund gathered examples of two relatively popular, but by now rusty cars, and then performed crash tests with them at the Thatcham Research facility in Britain. The results are sobering. The rustier cars chosen for the tests were first-generation Mazda6s, cars that have a reputation for early-onset rust in salty surroundings, such as the Nordic countries in Europe or the Salt Belt in the U.S. The cars in the other end of the spectrum were fifth-generation Volkswagen Golfs, which thanks to their body treatment only really start to show rust at over ten years old. But rust isn't just on the surface, it goes bone deep. While the Mazda did decently well in Euro NCAP testing as a new car, there's now a 20 percent higher risk of death in the 2003-2008 Mazda due to the degradation of its bodyshell. In the rusty car, the chassis rail separates from the floor, the footwell ruptures, the sill gives way, the seat mountings move and the dummy's head hits the B-pillar; all important failures, despite Thatcham saying the cars actually performed better in the crashes than they expected with all the rust. But still, the corroded structure isn't able to transmit loads in the way it was originally designed to do. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The Golf does significantly better — despite rust flakes flying when the Golf hits the wall — as the years have only caused it to lose a single point. An important thing to remember is that the cars aren't tested in comparison to corresponding new, 2018 cars: the tests are in reference to the crashworthiness standards in place when they were new. The cars' airbags inflate like they were supposed to, but on the Mazda the dummy's head bottoms out the airbag due to the car's structure failing, meaning the airbag cannot perform as designed. Driven cautiously, an older car is still mostly fine for driving around. But tests like these remind us that it's not enough that a car runs and drives, if the body has turned into Swedish knackebrod. And if you repair the visible rust and the structure underneath remains as compromised as ever, there's an ugly truth under all the bondo. Perhaps it isn't such a bad idea to have yearly roadworthiness inspections.

Junkyard Gem: 1990 Mazda 929 S

Wed, Aug 24 2016

In the late 1980s, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda were cleaning up in the American market with the Cressida, Maxima, and Legend, respectively. Mazda wanted some of those dollars, so the HC-series Mazda Luce was modified for the US market and sold here as the 929. It had rear-wheel drive, a powerful V6 engine, and lots of luxury features, but not many were sold. Here's a rare '90 that I spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service yard. In 1990, the sporty 929S version got 190 horsepower from its DOHC 3.0-liter V6. Unfortunately for Mazda, American buyers associated the marque with sensible econoboxes and screaming rotary engines, not luxury machinery, at the time. For the 1990 model year, American-market cars were required to have either a driver's-side airbag or automatic seat belts. The 929 had the automatic belts, the less said about the better. The Luce-based 929 became the Sentia-based 929 for the 1992 model year. Meanwhile, the new luxury brands from Honda, Nissan, and Toyota were kicking the crap out of 929 sales; Mazda had planned to launch the Amati brand in the United States, but didn't have the resources to follow through. The last 929s were sold in the United States for the 1995 model year. Related Video: Featured Gallery Junked 1990 Mazda 929 S View 16 Photos Auto News Mazda

Mazda helps coronavirus fight with free oil changes for all healthcare workers

Thu, Apr 16 2020

During the hard times caused by the coronavirus pandemic, automakers are helping any way they can, big or small. Mazda is one of those offering support specifically for the nation's healthcare workers who are risking their own lives in order to save others. Mazda calls it the Essential Car Care Program (ECCP), and it offers free upkeep to any healthcare workers with a car, not just a Mazda. Through the ECCP,  Mazda is offering healthcare workers free oil changes and "enhanced cleaning services." The program begins April 16, 2020, and will run through select participating dealerships. To repeat, this is not only for people who drive Mazdas, it's for anybody working in healthcare. Mazda says it is "available for most makes and models from other manufacturers," excluding exotics, classic cars, off-road vehicles, and vehicles that take more than eight quarts of oil. The offer is available for service on one car per program period. The program, for which Mazda will donate a minimum of $5 million, was inspired by Mazda dealerships that independently offered similar perks to local healthcare workers. Those eligible for free services include anybody who works at the following facilities:   Hospitals, urgent care, surgical centers, birth centers Healthcare providers, doctor offices, medical clinics, medical offices, medical centers, medical facilities, health systems Mental health providers, addiction treatment centers Assisted living, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice homes, adult care homes, home health agencies Public health agencies Medical laboratory and research centers Medical equipment providers Orthopedic and other rehabilitation centers including physical therapy and chiropractic Blood banks Telehealth providers All workers need to do is show proof of occupation, and they're in. In addition to the oil change, the enhanced vehicle cleaning will use EPA-approved cleansers on high-touch interior surfaces, as well as exterior surfaces.  The ECCP runs through May 4, 2020. Read full details on the ECCP fact sheet. Related Video:
