HI,

My wife and I purchased this 2011 Mazda2 brand new because we needed a commuter car to drive 120 miles a day. Now that we no longer have this commute, we are selling it. We regularly get about 40 MPG highway and about 34 in town. If you really baby this car, it is capable of 45 mpg highway. We live in the Pennsylvania countryside and have driven the car only on highway roads. It feels very much like a brand new car.

It is loaded with every available option; AC, power windows, power locks, cruise control, aux input/CD player, premium wheels, traction control, spoiler, upgraded sound system, steering wheel controls, premium seats, fog lights and center console. Its the touring version and it cost extra for these options. One of the reasons that we chose the Mazda2 as opposed to other economy cars is that I am a tall guy and all the other cars that we test drove felt like go carts, while I've driven this for 5 hours and felt like i was sitting on my couch. The 5 speed transmission makes this car very fun to drive.

The car will come with a fresh oil change and the inspection is good til next January. The tires have 'OK' tread, but will probably need to be changed in the next 10 thousand miles or so. BUT, if you purchase the car at the BUY IT NOW price, we will put a brand new set of tires on it for you! Feel free to email me with any questions or come by and take it for a test drive. We can assist with delivery or shipping once payment has cleared. The miles may go up a bit as we still drive it a bit...

Thanks
Dave

Mazda's new Mexican plant capacity rises to 230,000

Sat, 05 Jan 2013

After the turmoil of last year, 2013 is getting off to a much better start for Mazda. The company has issued a release indicating that the forthcoming plant in Salamanca, Mexico has had its production capacity raised even though it isn't scheduled to go online until March 2014. The original plans called for a 140,000-unit capacity, 90,000 of that allotted for the Mazda2 and Mazda3, the remaining 50,000 for a small car Mazda would build for Toyota that would be based on the Mazda2. The new plans call for raising that by 90,000 units to a total of 230,000 units within two years, by the end of March 2016, and it looks like it will all go toward Mazda production to satisfy growing demand for Skyactiv vehciles. The Mexican plant's opening will be the return of Mazda manufacturing to North America, after Mazda6 production was moved back to Japan last year.
More good news for the company is that it projects 10 billion yen ($114 million) in net income for the financial year that will end in March. That would be a welcome turnaround from the 100-billion-yen loss in the previous financial year, part of a series of three annual losses in a four-year span.
You'll find the press release with the factory update below.

Lexus, Mazda and Subaru top Consumer Reports Brand Report Cards

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

A revised methodology in devising its annual Car Brand Report Cards has seen Consumer Reports award Lexus its top overall ranking for 2013. For the first time ever, the institute broke out individual brands from their larger corporate umbrellas, meaning car makers like Lexus and Scion were judged independently from parent company Toyota. That strategy worked out well for Lexus, as the luxury brand earned a top report card score of 79 for the 2013 model year.
The institute has recommended every one of the Lexus models it has tested to date, and said that the company's products won out thanks to "a foundation of plush and very reliable vehicles."
Meanwhile, Mazda and Subaru tied for the second-highest scoring report cars, with scores of 76. Subaru earned praised for sporting models like the BRZ, which CR testers apparently had a lot of fun driving (naturally), while the Mazda products were lauded for their blend of practicality, sportiness and efficiency. Both of the Japanese brands offered good handling, fuel economy and versatility, said Consumer Reports.

A '70s F1 car and a first-gen Miata make an amazing lovechild

Mon, Aug 22 2016

For no apparent reason, this artist asked what if Mazda built an MX-5-based F1 car? And what if it were from the 1970s, the glory days of James Hunt and Niki Lauda? Here's what it'd look like. Look at it! Look at its adorable little eyes and the huge tires. And the intake! The rendering is by YasidDesign and was done live in front of Facebook followers in a Facebook Live session. It borrows heavily from 1970s F1 cars – it looks like a March 741 served as the basis for the open-wheel portion – and blends it effortlessly with MX-5 styling cues. It all came together in about 90 minutes. Watching the process is remarkable, especially considering YasidDesign is doing the bulk of the work live while taking comments and advice from people on Facebook. Check out the video and YasidDesign's other works on his Facebook page. Related Video:
