90 Mazda Miata W/ Hardtop on 2040-cars
Campbellsville, Kentucky, United States
car in excellent condition. repainted a few years ago in burgundy, and interior re-done to match. has aftermarket 14" wheels & oversize tires. equipped with aftermarket handling package including lowering springs, & shocks to improve handling & cornering. no mechanical problems. never driven in winter. new convertible top installed last year with glass window. aftermarket seats, new burgundy carpet and door panels. aftermarket steering wheel. has factory spoiler. removable hardtop in like-new condition. also included is lifting harness for removing hardtop while in garage. has original owner's manual & repair manual. new battery this year and new tires last year with less than 500 miles on them. I have noticed that it leaks a little trans fluid when parked over the winter, but does not need any during the summer, for some reason. has K & N air filter system. uses no oil. starts, runs & drives like a new car, and handles like it was on rails. never been hit or had any body damage to my knowledge. I have the original seats (which were tan) if someone wanted to re-upholster them to match. also has vinyl tonneau cover as seen in pics. not sure what else to say, but I'll try to answer any questions. only reason for selling is I got my wife a PT Cruiser convertible so she can haul the grandkids around. (the Miata is a lot more fun to drive, though!) thanks.
On Apr-22-14 at 07:09:36 PDT, seller added the following information: forgot to add that I bought this car from the original owner, so I am the 2nd owner of the car. On Apr-22-14 at 19:43:34 PDT, seller added the following information: please note: I noticed a small trans fluid stain on the concrete when I moved the car tonight. not much, but I'll add a little trans-medic in case one of the seals kinda dried out over the winter. |

Consumer Reports digs Mazda3, disses Jeep Cherokee
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has just rendered its verdict on two of the more important cars to launch this year - the Mazda3 and the Jeep Cherokee. Considering the value a "Recommended" rating carries with the public and the viciously competitive markets these two cars compete in, Consumer Reports' view could have some impact on their initial success.
For Mazda, that's a good thing. CR spoke quite highly of the Zoom-Zoom brand's compact sedan and hatch, testing both models, and citing the excellent fuel economy and snickety-snack manual shifter as high points. Downsides to the 3 included a ride that is agile but "nervous," a bit too much noise and a cramped back seat. Still, the 3 was good enough to earn its place in the ranks of the "Recommended."
The Jeep didn't fare quite so well, with CR calling the polarizing CUV "half-baked." Although both engines were tested, the magazine called the 2.4-liter four-pot underpowered and its nine-speed automatic unrefined and unresponsive. That's particularly damning, considering the 9AT's role in future Chrysler products, including the extremely important 200. Overall, the Cherokee missed out on the coveted "Recommended" rating.
Chicago Auto Show page claims 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to produce 155 hp [UPDATE]
Tue, Jan 27 2015UPDATE: Mazda wasn't willing to confirm or deny the figures cited by the Chicago Auto Show, although we're betting the 155-horsepower figure is a bit on the low side. As for the CAS page, a Mazda spokesman told Autoblog that they "aren't sure where they got that number." The horsepower estimate has since been pulled down. Well, someone may have made a boo-boo. The Chicago Auto Show is currently hosting a page that claims the Mazda MX-5 will produce 155 horsepower, courtesy of a 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder. If this is correct, it'd be the first time the MX-5's US power output had been revealed. The 155 hp figure would account for a 12-hp drop from that of the outgoing MX-5, though, a corresponding weight loss should still improve the power-to-weight ratio for the 2016 model. Now, the CAS page could simply be following previous reports, including one from Autoblog. As recently as October, it was being reported that the MX-5 would be powered by a 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder, a version of which is producing 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque in the Mazda3. Naturally, we've reached out to Mazda for comment – or perhaps even confirmation – on the info from CAS, although we aren't expecting a reply until at least later this morning (darn time zones). Of course, as soon as we hear anything, we'll update this story. Related Video:
Next Mazda MX-5 Miata to weigh a ton(ne), literally
Wed, 27 Nov 2013Looking at recent spy shots of the fourth-generation Mazda Miata, it's obvious this sporty little roadster will grow in size compared to the current model, but it's also going on a diet. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Auto Motor und Sport sat down with Mazda executive Kiyoshi Fujiwara, who gave a little more insight into the Miata's redesign.
Fujiwara said that they're aiming for a curb weight of a tonne (metric ton), which is 1,000 kilograms or right around 2,200 pounds, for the next-generation Miata. This would make the roadster at least 300 pounds lighter than the current NC Miata, but still about 200 pounds heavier than the original NA.
There is no indication as to how Mazda will go about removing that much weight from the bigger car, but with as popular as the power retractable hard top (PHRT) model is on the current car, the new Miata may ditch this feature to lose its weight. Improving the power-to-weight ratio appears to be a key goal of the Mazda team, so we also wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful engine underneath the longer hood.
