2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS Convertible

Mint- 6 speed with only 73k original miles

I have an antiquity company in the middle of Texas. We specialize in fine antiques and collectibles.  Once in a while my customers turn in a classic automobile or motorcycle.

This is one of those items:

This beautiful Miata came to us from an estate of a lady who was a member of the Miata Club.  This Miata was a part of her car collection and she kept it in immaculate shape since she enjoyed taking it to the Miata Club Meetings.

The Miata is in mint condition.  It runs as good as new with a beautiful 6-speed transmission and a very nice cold A/C.  The owner spent a lot of money upgrading some of the parts such as very expensive low profile wheels(18) and tires (215/35R18).  She also upgraded the K&L filters/breathing system.  She also installed a beautifully sounding muffler that makes the car breath and perform better (Magnaflow Performance))

She was very picky about her car’s performance and appearance.  This includes an extra expensive paint job that was done in 2013 (have the receipt) and a new Mazda convertible top that was installed by the dealer.  The car has been maintained by a Mazda dealer in Austin, Texas.  And it performs absolutely fantastic.

The car has a 1.8 liter engine that produces 142 HP, and it has a 6-speed transmission.  It has airbags for the driver and passenger.  It has type 4 wheel disc brakes.  It has an am/fm stereo with a CD player.  It has cruise control, power mirror, power locks, power steering, power windows, power brakes, and leather seats.  The car has it’s original tonneaua cover and it’s original owner’s manual.  The car runs and drives like brand new.  The seats are the only thing that shows a little bit of age on them.  This is probably one of the finest Miatas you will find in the country.

Even the car is beautiful and mint; it is not a hundred point car.  One of the things that I’m not crazy about is a plastic looking protector on the bottom of the sides to protect the car from rocks.

The Miata comes with a clear Texas title. So if you were waiting for a special Miata – it is here!  Come down to our little town and drive it back home.

All the inspections must be done before the auction closes.

Remember that this sport car is 11 years old.  Please remember that things always look better in pictures.  So you are more than welcome to come see it in person.

Your bid is your contract.  Please place bids only if you are serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bid, you are entering into a legal binding contract to purchase the item.

We require a $300 non-refundable deposit immediately after the bidding closes and the remaining balance within a week.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The car will be sold as is, with no warranty or guarantee.

We reserve the right to cancel any bid for excessive negative feedback.  And I may also advertise it locally.

44 Miatas engaged to spell happiness from above

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We've seen all manner of ways to propose marriage, from the usual candlelit dinner to the Jumbotron at the big game. A friend of ours recently proposed with his a barbershop quartet singing backup. But this has to be a new one - and one that automotive enthusiasts would probably find even more touching than a sky-writing biplane.
A member of the Miata.net forum recently asked other MX-5 enthusiasts to help him pop the big question to his bride-to-be. He got 31 Miatas together and needed just four more, but after appealing to his fellow roadster fans, over 40 turned up in the parking lot at the local high school.
The groom-to-be runs an aerial photography business and used an unmanned drone which his girlfriend thought would be shooting some local real estate properties when it flew over the parking lot and captured the image you see above with 44 little roadsters spelling out "Marry Me?" The answer, in case you were wondering, was a resounding "Yes!" How could she not, after all, when those Mazda convertibles are just so darn adorable? Now they'll just need to figure out what they'll be driving to the chapel on the big day.

Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum

Tue, Jun 24 2014

There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum
