Up for auction is a 1999 Mazda Miata. I purchased this car a couple of months ago as a third vehicle that I thought would be fun to have with spring time coming up. I have two kids and my wife does not like to ride it, because she says it is too small. For these reasons I do not get to use as much as I would like so I am putting it up for sale to buy something else the whole family can enjoy. I will give you a break down of everything on the car.
Body: The body is in fair to good shape. There is no rust on the body of the car or the frame of the car. There are a few spots on the hood, trunk, and the top of the rear quarter panels where the clear coat is fading. You can see these spots in the pictures. There is one dent in the rear section of the bumper, also shown in the picture. Besides that there are some minor scratches as can be expected in a car of this age, but nothing significant. If I were to keep it I would probably pain the car just to make it look really nice but it is not a necessity. The top on the car is in car is in very good shape with no rips or tears and it does not leak. The picture shows a spot on the rear bumper but the bumper has since been repainted. It has brand new tires on it with after market ICW wheels.
Interior: The interior of the car is in fair to good shape. It has black cloth interior. The driver seat has three tears in it so I put the seat cover on it to prevent them from getting worse. The passenger seat has one small wear spot next to the console that is not very noticeable. There are no cracks in the dash or door panels. The carpet is black and is in good shape.
Electronics: All the electronics work on the car as they are suppose to. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the passenger headlight bulb needs to be replaced. The power windows work as they are suppose to. All the gauges work and are accurate. The interior lights all work fine. It has the factory Mazda CD player that works good with no problems. The check engine light is on. I had it checked by Auto Zone and they said it was reading an EGR valve so I did not worry about fixing it. The previous owner recent replaced the main wire harness on the car. I just replaced the heater core so it has very hot heat now. The A/C works but needs a charge. I was not too worried about that because I drive with the top down anyway.
Drivetrain: This is the best part of the car. It has had a lot of recent work done by the previous owner and myself. It has a great running 1.8 liter engine that puts out 140HP mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It has a brand new performance clutch in it and it shift great. The previous owner recently rebuilt the top end of the motor. I am not sure about the bottom end but it holds very good oil pressure and there are no odd sounds. There is also a new radiator and fuel pump. I just replaced the passenger front wheel hub. This car only weighs 2300lbs and it will fly. There are a lot of curves on the roads around my house and I can take them at 80MPH and it only feels like I am doing 30MPH. The car is a blast to drive.
Just to give you an overview of all the recent work done to the car:
- Top end of engine rebuilt
- New performance clutch
- New main wire harness
- New tires
- New front passenger wheel bearing
- New fuel pump
- New heater core and hoses
The car runs and drives great with no problems. I am selling it at NO RESERVE. I do have it for sale or trade locally. If you have any questions please feel free to email, text, or call Josh at 864-254-8572.

Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo reshapes a winning form [w/video]
Fri, Dec 26 2014In the history of endurance racing, there's only ever been one Japanese automaker to win the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, and as you might have guessed, that was Mazda in 1991 with the 787B – which was, incidentally, the only one ever to win the race under rotary power, or really anything other than a conventional piston engine. That racing success is something Mazda can be proud about, even over two decades later, and it's a badge of honor the automaker is revisiting with the LM55 prototype you see here. Only instead of unleashing it on the Circuit de la Sarthe – or really any actual race track – the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is bound only for PlayStation. The latest addition to the Vision Gran Turismo lineup, the LM55 takes inspiration from the aforementioned 787B but gives it a modern KODO design theme. The result is pretty stunning, taking a more radical approach than the Skyactiv Prototype the company is fielding in the United SportsCar Championship or even the dearly departed, head-turning Furai concept. But unlike that diesel prototype and the Wankel-powered 787B, Mazda hasn't specified any kind of novel powertrain for the LM55, fictitious or otherwise - saying only that it has "advanced drive train technology that offers the epitome of power, efficiency and durability and the result is an exceptional power to weight ratio exceeding that of most cars in its class." Just what that class would be we'll likely never find out, but if you don't have a PS3 loaded with GT6 (or, for that matter, even if you do), you can scope out the virtual action in the slideshow above and the rather Christmas-y video below. 2016 Mazda CX-3 scores 29/35 mpg EPA ratings
Tue, Jun 9 2015Looking for a subcompact crossover that won't cost you too much at the pumps? Your best bet is now the new Mazda CX-3, according to fuel economy figures released by the EPA. Mazda's new baby crossover has been rated by the US government agency at 29 miles per gallon in the city, 35 on the highway, and 31 on the combined cycle. That's in front-drive spec, giving the CX-3 better fuel economy than anything else in its class (at least, that is, with an automatic transmission.) Option it with all-wheel drive and you'll take a slight penalty at 27 mpg in the city, 32 on the highway, and 29 combined. According to Mazda that still "makes it among the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive vehicles available in the US." Whichever drivetrain option you go for, the CX-3 packs a 2.0-liter inline-four with direct injection (Skyactiv-G in Mazda-speak) good for 146 horsepower and just as much torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The first examples will begin reaching American showrooms later this summer. As Mazda's first foray into the quickly burgeoning subcompact crossover class of vehicles, CX-3 provides those seeking a purposeful, stylish and sporty vehicle option that bucks convention. CX-3 offers standard keyless ignition and backup camera, and is available with features that are unrivalled in its class like Mazda Radar Cruise Control, adaptive LED headlights and Mazda's signature driving experience. Front-wheel-drive models have EPA-estimated fuel economy of 29 mpg city/35 mpg highway/31 mpg combined, while models equipped with Mazda's predictive i-ACTIV AWD have EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg city/32 mpg highway/29 mpg combined. That makes it among the most-efficient all-wheel-drive vehicles available in the U.S. "SKYACTIV Technology means we don't have to compromise when it comes to performance, efficiency and fun-to-drive dynamics," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations.
Mazda spiders return, 42k Mazda6 sedans recalled for webby fuel tanks
Sat, 05 Apr 2014It seems that Yellow Sac spiders really, really love Mazda. Three years after Mazda recalled 52,000 Mazda6 sedans over spider webs obstructing the evaporative canister vent lines of 2009 and 2010 Mazda6 models, another recall has been issued for 42,000 more of the models built between 2010 and 2012 and equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
According to the automaker, there have been nine confirmed sightings of spiders in vent lines since the original recall. It seems that covers were applied at the factory to keep the arachnids from entering, but it hasn't quite exterminated the problem. A reflash of the ECU is required that "[changes] the logic behind how the car purges the charcoal canister during normal operation," says Jeremy Barnes, Director, Public Relations & Brand Experience at Mazda North American Operations.
So far, Mazda has not recorded any fires, accidents or injuries due to this tangled mess of webs. Recall notices will be mailed out to owners later this month. Scroll down below for the statement from Mazda, along with the official recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
