Second owner of this beautiful 1995 Mazda MX-5 M Edition with 110,900 miles on the clock. I purchased the vehicle about two years ago from an Indiana dealership and have loved it ever since. The car has retained most of its stock appearance, such as the standard factory seats, mats, BBS 15" wheels, tonneau cover, ABS anti-lock brakes, CD player, radio, power windows, antenna, A/C all work as they should. This specific vehicle is equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission. The timing belt, water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, fuel filter, clutch slave cylinder, CAS o-ring seal, plug wires and spark plugs have all been replaced with documentation. New (less than 10k) 195/50/15 tires are currently on the car.
The engine compartment has been left completely stock. What has been changed from factory spec is as listed: The original soft top has been completely removed and the car has since been fitted with an OEM factory paint A1Q hard top which is included in this auction. The hardtop is wonderful at increasing rigidity, reducing cabin noise, and adding a level of security to the valuables inside your car. The vehicle includes the front and rear pieces of the r-spec package. A Hard Dog Double Diagonal Hardtop M1 rollbar has since been fitted for roll over protection. The suspension has been changed with Stance Super-Sport+ 15-way dampening adjustable coilovers for a firmer ride. Also pictured and included will be the Project-G bikini top. This vehicle has served as a perfect weekend driver, and has the ability to become a great auto-x or track day car if you so desire.

As you can see from the photos, the car is in overall great shape for a 19 year old vehicle.. The previous owner treated this car with great care but at the same time enjoyed it by driving it. The same level of care has passed down in my years of owning this vehicle. I have tried my best to include the small defects that I've seen, and I'll describe some here: there are two scratches near the driver side quarter panel and one on the right of the trunk, the front of the bumper has a small ding, and the front of the r-spec package has lost some paint due to rock chips.  The hood has had some hail dings from the day I bought it. The driver side seat has had the tear spot pictured from the day I purchased the vehicle. These minor cosmetic issues haven't bothered me and are relatively simple fixes.

The vehicle has a clear title and has never been in an accident, flood, etc. It was a summer vehicle and has only seen one Illinois winter. Overall, the car is a blast to drive, and I hope that you will be able to enjoy the vehicle as much as I have over the years!

The buyer is responsible for the pick up or shipping of the vehicle. I'll be more than glad to assist in any way that I can.

Watch this 1,500-hp Mazda MX-5 smoke a race track

Wed, Dec 23 2015

In December 2014 we watched New Zealand drifter "Mad Mike" Whiddett assemble his RADBUL, an NC-series Mazda MX-5 Miata with a four-rotor engine aided by twin Garrett turbochargers. The Dr. Frankensteins at engine builders Pulse Performance expected their creation to be good for 1,500 horsepower. This year we get to watch Whiddett run the monster around Highlands Motorsports Park in New Zealand, brewing up enough tire smoke to set of fire alarms in the International Space Station. When the car was finished in February Pulse Performance put it on the dyno, toning down the boost because "the tires easily smoked the rollers." The result on the day was 1,032 horsepower from the 2.6-liter engine. When Whiddett campaigned it at the Forth Worth, TX round of this year's Formula Drift Pro Championship, he said tiny adjustments have a huge effect on the way the car behaves so they were still trying to find the right balance a few months into the season because of the testing limit outside of competition. Unsurprisingly, he also said the car "is so damn fast that I'm actually having trouble slowing down." RADBUL is the third in Whiddett's line of Mazda drift specials, after the RX-8 BADBUL and the RX-7 MADBUL. Check out the video above for the ballet, and for more, check out the behind-the-scenes and the 360-degree POV videos.

Mazda CX-5 Luggage Test | How much cargo space?

Fri, Oct 4 2019

We're already seen how Mazda's largest crossover, the CX-9, does at stuffing luggage inside its cargo hold. Now it's time for the next rung down the Mazda ladder. The Mazda CX-5 has 30.9 cubic-feet of space behind its raised back seat, which on paper, is considerably less than its top competition. The Hyundai Tucson leads the way with 38.7 cubic-feet, the Honda CR-V (39.2) and Toyota RAV4 (37.5) are basically the same, and the Subaru Forester has between 33 and 35 depending on options. However, the CX-5 does have more than the Chevrolet Equinox (29.9), Jeep Compass (27.2) and Ford Escape when its sliding back seat is in its aft-most position (33.5 when all the way forward).  Basically, this compact Mazda's cargo area is midpack, which makes it a good choice for my first luggage test of the segment. Let's see how much of the luggage in my garage fits inside. As a refresher, I use two mid-size roller suitcases that would need to be checked in at the airport (26 inches long, 16 wide, 11 deep), two roll-aboard suitcases that just barely fit in the overhead (24L x 15W x 10D), and one smaller roll-aboard that fits easily (23L x 15W x 10D). I also include my wife's fancy overnight bag just to spruce things up a bit (21L x 12W x 12D).  I started by keeping the cargo cover in place to see how much fits underneath it. The answer is the four largest bags. The two smaller ones did not. OK, now let's remove the cargo cover, which is an unusual design. Rather than a roller-type cartridge that you manually pull into place or a rigid hatchback-like unit that rises up when the liftgate goes up, the CX-5 basically combines the two. The forward bit is attached to the liftgate and unspools when opened.  To detach it, you need to unfasten these plastic clamps and then remove the cartridge reel much as you would a normal cargo cover. OK, and now here's how much the CX-5 can fit with the cargo cover removed.  All of it! That above configuration is just the first thing I came up with, but there's likely additional Tetris formations to be found. Note that the tailgate does close here but the middle cases' wheels are awfully close to the window.  I'm not going to stop there, though. I went ahead and rummaged through my garage to see what it would take to fill'er up. There you go: one duffle bag and one gym bag stuffed into the spaces. You could probably fit a grocery bag right in front there, too.

2016 Mazda2 gets EPA-rated 43 mpg highway

Fri, Apr 10 2015

To paraphrase the famous quote from astronaut Neil Armstrong, that's one small step for man and one giant leap for the Mazda2. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has weighed in on the new Mazda2 version, and says it gets a fuel-economy rating of 33 miles per gallon city and 43 mpg highway with a six-speed automatic transmission. Stick-shift gas-mileage figures are 31 city and 42 highway, which are still substantially better than the 29/35 rating from the most recent iteration of the model. That's about a 15-percent jump in fuel economy, people. More importantly, the Mazda2 beats out competitors such as the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio Eco and even the Honda Fit in terms of fuel efficiency, which is pretty good company. The Mazda2 boasts a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. But it is the upgrade to six-speed transmissions in both manual and automatic versions that seem to be making the biggest difference in the ratings. Mazda started unveiling details about the next-generation Mazda2 last year, and last fall began production of the model at Mazda's new factory in Salamanca, Mexico. At that time, the Japanese automaker had already sold more than 2.4 million Mazda2 vehicles since the model's introduction in 1996. Related Video:
