1992 Mazda Monster Miata 5.0 Liter V8: Modern Cobra, Sunbeam Tiger on 2040-cars
Peoria, Illinois, United States
You are bidding on a 1992 Monster Miata. Good, clean ones that are not overdone are hard to find and that describes this car. I bought it a few years ago for summer cruise-in and show events while I have been accumulating parts to get my Sunbeam Tiger back on the road. The Miata has been a summer fun drive when I would normally drive the Tiger. Now that the Tiger is almost ready to go, I am offering the Monster Miata for sale. The car has been professionally appraised (copy included with photos) at $22,000. (A newer version by another conversion company costs over $40,000 for a turn-key car.) Since everyone wants a bit of a discount, I have a very low reserve of $18,500. I believe the market value us considerably more than that and that is the least that the car is worth to me. I have no financial reason to sell it, so I'll keep it before I'll let it go for less. Inspections are welcome. Test drives by serious buyers can be arranged in Central Illinois. Overall, it offers great and reliable performance in a sleeper sports car. It's a lot of fun. Good luck.Pluses 56,XXX miles Clean Car Fax that verifies the low mileage Professional conversion of an excellent Miata by Martin Wilson of Monster Miata 1994 5.0 liter Mustang engine / 5 speed transmission Fresh short block New ceramic clutch New pressure plate New hydraulic throw-out bearing conversion to replace Miata hydraulic/mechanical clutch linkage Stock 5.0 liter Mustang V8 engine with no goofy power adders - stock power is plenty, maintaining reliability Ford Thunderbird IRS It's lowered - terrific handling Excellent body and paint Tastefully done rear fender flaresPanasport style 16" Rota wheels Nearly new tires Very good original cloth interior - cool on hot daysRoll bar Includes Monster Miata assembly manual for reference Minuses A bit cold blooded for about 2 miles after initial start. Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota
Mon, 23 Jun 2014The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands
Volkswagen's latest ad is not subtle | Autoblog Podcast #509

Mazda3, CX-5 earn IIHS Top Safety Picks
Thu, 17 Jan 2013Mazda technologies like SkyActiv-Body and SkyActiv-Chassis, plus ultra-high-tensile steel, six airbags, "crusable" brake and accelerator pedal assembly and collapsible steering column have helped the 2013 Mazda3 and 2014 Mazda CX-5 win Top Safety Pick laurels from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It's the second year in a row for the Mazda3.
The accolade is earned by receiving "Good" marks for frontal moderate overlap crashes, side and rear impact crashes, and tests of roof strength. Remember, the small overlap test that the IIHS commenced in August 2012 has lately tripped up some makers who have excellent safety reputations.
The Mazda3 and CX-5 join offerings like the Dodge Dart, Hyundai Elantra, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Subaru Forester among the 117 vehicles so far declared Top Safety Picks - which is different than the 13 named Top Safety Picks+, mind you - for this year. Have a read of the press release below for more information.
