1991 Mazda Mx5 Miata 141k With Hardtop Convertible Good Condition Hard Top on 2040-cars
Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania, United States
1991 Mazda MX5 Miata 140k with newer Hard Top with glass rear window (a few years old). Seats aren't worn. Carpet is decent. Car is overall clean and in good shape; especially for the age! Soft top needs replaced, middle console cover trim missing. No check engine lights/errors/or other such apparent issues. Was repainted black a couple of years ago. Paint repaint looks good and is shiny but is not absolutely perfect - you can still tell that the car was blue on the firewall under the hood, etc. Mazda body panel stickers are still intact. Minor scuffs on passenger side aren't as bad as they appear (from car cover) - in fact they will definitely buff out; there is a paint chip on front bumper corner and rear trim under trunk lid is cracked but doesn't affect appearance or function. Some minor surface rust on frame, and a very small amount of surface rust starting to form at bottom rocker panel seams. Everything seems to work well but the ac compressor and indicator comes on but doesn't produce cold air (I don't have time to look into it - probably just needs a charge). Has aftermarket cd player head unit, all speakers seem to work. The 4 all-season tires have about 75% tread. 2 new additional winter tread tires are currently installed on the rear. The other 2 all season tires are included without rims. New battery. Original spare tire, jack, handle, and tire iron in trunk. Owners manual in glove compartment. The slave clutch cylinder leaked badly - it was just replaced but left that wet coating on underside of car. I've tried to point out all the little issues of the car, but keep in mind that this is a 23yr old car! This was my wife's car and hasn't been driven much since she bought it - we just had a baby and will never really use it. Overall this is a very good condition car at a very low price: the hardtop is worth $1500 alone and the car really does appear at least ten years newer. If you don't need the hard top I can separate to make the car cheaper - but you will have to replace the soft top right away as it is split at the window.

Mazda names new North American chief
Tue, Dec 22 2015Mazda has announced today the appointment of a new president and CEO of its North American operations. Jim O'Sullivan, who has been running the office for 13 years, is now leaving the company. In his place the head office has appointed veteran manager Masahiro Moro, and as you can see, he could not be more thrilled with the appointment. A 55-year-old native of Kyoto, Moro has been with Mazda since 1983. One of the company's managing executive officers, Moro currently heads up its global sales and marketing division. He also previously served as vice president of marketing and of product planning for Mazda Motor Europe, and as director of the company's Australian operations. He'll now be relocating with his wife and family to Southern California to take over the North American division based out of Irvine, effective January 1. His predecessor Jim O'Sullivan has held the office since 2003, also ranked as one of the Japanese automaker's managing executive officers. The Detroit native previously worked at Ford, where he started his career in 1976. "I have been very lucky that the car business has afforded me so many incredible experiences, and taught me so much. However, now is the right time for me to retire from Mazda," said the 40-year industry veteran of his departure from the company in the statement below. "I don't know how the next chapter in my life will read, but it's time for me to spend time with my wonderful wife, my children and my grandchildren. I've travelled the world for nearly 40 years, who knows what the future holds?" Mazda recalling 18k Mazda6 and RX-8 models over airbag inflators
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Faulty Takata airbag inflators keep taking their toll on automakers. Mazda is the latest to be affected in the US by announcing a recall covering 18,050 Mazda6 and RX-8 models to replace the front, passenger-side airbags. Specifically, the campaign covers 18,000 Mazda6 units from the 2003 and 2004 model years built between May 29, 2002, and March 4, 2004, and 50 RX-8 vehicles from the 2004 model year made between June 25, 2003, and June 30, 2003.
As with the rest of the vehicles with these faulty inflators, it's possible for the part to rupture when deploying the airbag and potentially spray shrapnel at the occupant. Mazda's defect notice goes into a bit more detail than most about the problem saying: "some propellant wafers have been produced with an inadequate compaction force, or may have been exposed to uncontrolled moisture conditions (those wafers could have absorbed moisture beyond the allowable limits)."
This isn't Mazda's first difficulty with Takata-supplied airbags this year. The company was among the seven automakers that recalled vehicles in hot-weather states over the inflators. It also had to recently fix 42,000 Mazda6 vehicles in China over the issue.
