Defects

Slight oxidation/pitting on driver's wing vent frame (couldn't get it to show up in the pics).

Tiny crack in dash (in the typical early Miata spot--couldn't get it to show up in pics. hasn't grown since I noticed it two years ago).

Small tear in back side of driver's seat (see pics.)

Slight wearing in the front side of the lower bolster of driver's seat. (the typical spot Miata's driver's seats wear--the upper side bolster--was replaced with Rolls Royce Connolly hides earlier this year by an Porsche and Ferrari expert. If I didn't tell you, you would not notice: he did that good a job).

Other Info

Driver's front fender was creased by a service truck while vehicle was parked in alley. Fender was replaced with factory OEM part
Vehicle was backed into, which creased the quarter panel behind passenger door. Crease was removed when car was repainted.
Rear Finish panel was broken when being removed for repaint. Finish Panel was replaced with factory OEM part.

Bonuses
Comes with the factory original complete Tonneau (full cockpit) cover and boot (folded top) cover

Comes with original factory owner's manual

Comes with very rare BRG-SE dealer poster (framed)

Comes with factory original BRG-SE dash plaque

The factory original wood Nardi shift knob and e-brake handle are in like-new condition.

The factory original leather steering wheel is scratch free.

All plastic wheel caps are like-new and not faded

This is one of the best condition BRG-SEs you'll find. Runs and drives great with no known issues.

It's possible the engine has high-performance cams in it. It runs like a normal 1.6L until 4,000 rpm, then it comes on really hard and it revs very freely.

Mazda 16X rotary engine two years away, will arrive in all-new model

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

We last reported on Mazda's next-generation rotary engine project in June of 2012 when the automaker built its last Renesis-powered RX-8, but rumors of this new engine's development had been around way before that final car left the production line in Japan, last year.
We now have enthusiastic confirmation that this next-gen rotary engine is really and truly going forward. It is still referred to as 16X and has several priorities. First is to lower fuel consumption compared to the RX-8's engine, while still making gains in terms of performance. The second is to reduce the burning of oil that was happening at the highest revs. And the third and final priority, and perhaps most key for enthusiasts, is to give the powertrain a big torque upgrade.
What we were told by a Mazda USA insider (while we are all here together at the festivities in Monterey) is that the first application of the new 16X engine will be happening in two years' time in an as yet undisclosed new model. Oh, the mind races to our eternal Mazda wish list...

Mazda MX-5 Miata to spawn coupe, Mazda6 to get quick successive updates

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

Despite the PRHT's availability, some are still yearning for a proper fixed-head coupe.
We are just days away from the official unveiling of the next-generation 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata on September 3, and it's fair to say that the mouths of enthusiasts are watering in anticipation for the latest version of this iconic roadster. Hard facts about the new droptop aren't easy to find, and in the absence of further disclosure from Mazda officials, the rumormill is in full swing, including word that a long-awaited hardtop coupe model will figure into the new generation's plans.

Next Mazda MX-5 Miata headed for 2015 Chicago debut

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

Twenty-six years after it was introduced at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the much anticipated fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata will meet the press at the 2015 Chicago show. A piece in Autocar refines some of the details on the larger, lighter Miata that a Mazda insider has said will be "our best-looking car ever."
The company has relented on the quest for the metric tonne, the 1000-kilogram (2,200-pound) target too difficult to achieve in light of cost constraints. You can still expect it to lose a generous dollop of weight - Autocar says a curb weight of 1,100 kg (2,420 pounds) will still make it the lightest in its class. And Mazda will be stressing a fun driving experience through light weight and a modest amount of naturally-aspirated horsepower. Engine capacities of 1.5 and 2.0 liters are expected. Sounds familiar (and good), right?
The Miata's interpretation of Kodo design will be veer from that found on the Mazda3 and Mazda6, with "very clean and simple" lines marking out "more muscular proportions" and elongated bodywork on a longer wheelbase. A stretched engine bay will make room for the current Skyactiv engine and perhaps the future Skyactiv 2 powerplants, initial reports suggesting there could be a 30-percent increase in fuel economy from the moment it arrives.
