1990 Mazda Miata Red, One Owner, Very Clean, 41,278 Miles on 2040-cars
Mason City, Iowa, United States
I saw a picture in a magazine and had to have a Miata when they first appeared for sale. I bought the car at Sedars Motors in Mason City, Iowa at list price. I could have sold it for much more at the time but I really liked driving the car so I kept it for a fun car. I have kept accurate records of maintenance. For some reason I even paid to have Zeibart rustproofing applied when it was new. I bought a few minor accessories but otherwise it is original. I added a cup holder in the center instead of the ashtray and a side large cup holder that folds up and out of the way.
We took lots of trips up and down the interstate but did not drive it as a primary vehicle since I always had to haul stuff around and the trunk is minimal. Even though I didn't put many miles each year I still had the oil changed each spring. Now that I am getting older and standing 6' 1" it is becomiing too difficult to get in and out of my Miata so I feel I want to sell it. We have local people that want it for the reserve price but I think it is worth more since it is in such great condition. Seller will pay for shipping but they can fly in and pick it up and have a nice drive home. |

Mazda recalling 88k vehicles for ECU glitch
Fri, 04 Apr 2014Need a break from news about the General Motors ignition switch recall? This Mazda recall should serve as a nice change of pace. It involves 88,000 cars across the globe, and focuses on the brand's three most recent (and important) models - the Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5.
The issue rests with Mazda's new i-ELOOP regenerative braking system. Apparently there's a problem with the ECU program that monitors whether a capacitor in the regen system is working. Acceleration is affected, and in severe cases, the engine could stall. There have been no mention of accidents or injuries due to the issue, and the glitch itself can be cured by an ECU reflash.
As i-ELOOP is a fairly new system for Mazda, particularly in the US, the total number of affected models is rather low, with just 6,500 US cars affected. Europe is hit hardest, with 38,000 models while Mazda's home market of Japan adds 27,600 cars and crossovers. Affected models were built between October 2012 and January 2014.
Mazda6 diesel delayed until April
Fri, 13 Sep 2013Diesel enthusiasts waiting on the new Skyactiv-D-powered Mazda6 will have to wait a bit longer. The shapely fuel-efficient four-door has just had its North American launch pushed back to April, due to delays in emissions testing. Mazda had originally planned to launch the Mazda6 diesel before the end of this year, making the four- to five-month delay a rather serious one.
Mazda's senior vice president of US operations, Robert Davis, told Mazda employees in a letter obtained by Automotive News that, "final certification testing - the results of which are looking encouraging - is taking longer than we had initially expected." Following this letter, Mazda made an official announcement:
"The on-sale date for Mazda6 SKYACTIV-D clean-diesel has been moved to late-Spring 2014, to accommodate final emissions testing and certification. We are pleased with the ongoing development and are excited to launch this much-anticipated vehicle in North America. 2014 Mazda6 sales continue to exceed both our expectations and our production abilities, and supplies of the car are short at dealers across the U.S. More information on the SKYACTIV-D clean diesel Mazda6 will be available closer to the on-sale date."
