I need the potential buyer to please read very, very carefully before you commit to place your bid. This van was purchased 04/07/2014 through www.iaai.com auction, I had all the intention in the world to get it fixed and keep it as a family car but my budget is very tight...I simply won't be able to get it fixed....I want to break even in this deal or lose less than what I would if I keep it. Vehicle was cleaned inside and out, the van started and ran at the auction but it hasn't started since. It needs some work with engine or a new engine. A friend of mine who is a mechanic went by my house and gave me his diagnosis HERE IT IS...THE RADIATOR HAS A CRACK AND ALL THE FLUID IS GONE, THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT AND BLEW THE HEAD GASKETS, (CAR WAS RAN WITHOUT RADIATOR FLUIDTHE ENGINE HAS A DETONATION AND IS SETTING A CODE FOR THE KNOCK SENSOR... WINDSHIELD WIPERS WATER RESERVOIR AND RADIATOR ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED..THAT'S ALL I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC. I was advised to invest about $2000 in parts and labor to get it up and running, NO WAY IN HELL...I'm already in for $3500 as it is with all paperwork fees, parts and transportation from New Jersey...MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN IF YOU ARE A MECHANIC, HANDY WITH CARS OR SIMPLY NEED IT FOR PARTS....As you can see it would need new front bumper cover unless this one could be repaired. BRAND NEW BATTERY (bought for $125 04/09/2014)...I AM NOT A MECHANIC BY ANY MEANS SO YOU ARE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE AS IS and with the information given to me...car WAS NEVER DRIVEN since it's been in my possession CAR WAS REGISTERED IN MARYLAND AND IS CLEAR TITLE...vehicle must be towed and picked up from my house in GLENARDEN, MD 20706. It comes with power everything, Factory DVD (set of headphones included) FACTORY LEATHER, REAR SPOILER THIS IS THE GFX SPORTS PACKAGE....anything that you need to know please call me at 240-765-5471 and I'll try to answer as much as I can...REMEMBER THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS IS...NO WARRANTIES NO EXCHANGES NO REFUNDS AND NO RETURNS...ASK ALL PERTINENT QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING...full payment is expected 48 hours after auction ends and a $500 deposit is due in 48 hours....good luck!

Next Mazdaspeed3 could go naturally aspirated?

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

The new Mazda3 is a stunner, both aesthetically and from a driving perspective. As with all good things, though, there's always room for improvement. That's where the wizards from Mazdaspeed come in. Mazda's in-house tuner has been tweaking and turbocharging the five-door Mazda3 since 2007, with impressive results.
We've shown you renderings of what the third-generation Mazdaspeed3 could look like, and for the most part your response was quite positive. Now, AutoExpress has come out with details of just what might be under that long hood. According to our friends across the pond, the new Mazda3 MPS (that's what the Speed3 is called in Her Majesty's auto industry) will be arriving with a new, high-revving, naturally aspirated engine. Wait, what?
Yes, if the rumors are to be believed, the next Mazdaspeed3 will ditch its turbocharger. According to an anonymous engineer, the new MS3 will arrive in December (this is for the UK market, mind you) with a 200-horsepower, naturally aspirated engine. The 2.0-liter mill is based on the Skyactiv engine in the new 3, and should be capable of a sub-seven-second run to 62 miles per hour.

Half of Chinese car buyers won't shop Japanese over hard feelings

Mon, May 26 2014

The hard feelings between China and Japan is no real secret. Besides modern-day disputes, the two countries have had a long-running enmity that dates back to well before the atrocities of World War II. All things considered, then, it shouldn't be a shock that half of Chinese car buyers wouldn't consider a Japanese car. This survey, conducted by Bernstein Research, found that 51 percent of 40,000 Chinese consumers wouldn't even consider a Japanese car – which, again, isn't really surprising, when you consider stories like this. According to Bernstein, the most troubling thing is the location of these sentiments – smaller, growing cities where the population is going to need sets of wheels. We imagine it wouldn't be as big of an issue in traffic-clogged Shanghai or Beijing, but these small cities are going to become a major focus for automakers. "Nationalistic feelings are an impediment. [Japanese] premium brands will struggle," analyst Max Warburton wrote in a research note, according to The Wall Street Journal. Things will improve for Japanese makes, although China will remain a challenge, with Warburton writing, "the one thing that comes out most clearly is that most Chinese really want a German car. While we expect Japanese brands to continue to recover market share this year, ultimately the market will belong to the Germans." There are a few other insights from the study. According to WSJ, Japanese brands are viewed better than Korean brands, and they're seen as more comfortable than the offerings from Germany or the US, despite the fact that everyone in China apparently wants a German car. This is a tough position for the Japanese makes to be in, as there's really not a lot they can do to win favor with Chinese buyers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, particularly as the importance of the PRC continues to increase year after year. Toyota, Mazda drop Takata as Mitsubishi, Subaru weigh options

Sat, Nov 7 2015

It's not a very good time to be Takata right now. Fresh on the heels of longtime partner Honda ditching them, Toyota and Mazda have both come out and said they will not use the company's airbag inflators if they continue to rely on ammonium nitrate. Bloomberg reports that Subaru and Mitsubishi are also contemplating a divorce. "The inflator using ammonium nitrate produced by Takata will not be adopted by Toyota," President Akio Toyoda said during a briefing today. "What's most important above anything else is the safety and peace of mind of customers." Mazda echoed that position, simply saying it "will not use Takata airbag inflators which contain ammonium nitrate in our new cars." When you lose three huge OEM accounts in as many days, it's certainly going to have a deleterious effect on your fortunes. In Takata's case, that's meant a staggering 39-percent drop in their share price over the last three days. Yesterday alone, the company saw a 6.2-percent fall, Bloomberg reports. As the business publication reports, though, Takata isn't going down without a fight. The company is "considering some plans to survive," including a fundraising plan that will see it potentially offer up additional shares for sale. Still, at least one analyst doesn't see whatever company survives staying involved in the airbag inflator business. "I really don't see how they're going to be able to survive as an inflator manufacturer," Valient Market Research founder Scott Upham told Bloomberg. "When your major clients publicly come out and say that they're not going to use your products anymore, it makes this very difficult to sustain your business."
