1998 Mazda Mpv Lx Standard Passenger Van 3-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Washington, District Of Columbia, United States
The vehicle has been well maintained with regular oil changes and scheduled shop visits. It is lean and shows little wear for its age. The drive train is strong and has many miles left on it. We have had no problems with it and it has never broke down on us. This MPV has the All Sport package that includes skid plates under the front differential, oil pan, transfer case, cross member and fuel tank, off road suspension and trim. You can shift to 4 wheel high at low speed on the column or, lock the differentials with a switch on the dash when the vehicle is stopped. It seems to have plenty of power even off road. It uses no fluids and has no leaks. It passed emissions and is inspected in VA until Nov. 2014. The A/C works well and interior is clean. The tires have less than 20,000 miles on them and are rated for 60,000. All systems and power options work fine. This will make a great family vehicle as it is dependable and has low miles and is clean. The rear seat is removable and there is lots of cargo space. |

2014 Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Wagon
Thu, 21 Feb 2013This was sort of a quirky surprise drive opportunity. I've been over here in Italy for a while now, and Mazda Italia contacted me seemingly out of the blue to drive test some version of the Mazda6 with a diesel engine. Supremo. The Mazda6 is a sexy everyday beast and I have been digging their SkyActiv-D engines for a while now. Very spirited units.
My contact phones me the day of, and says he can come by with the car, and then we'll head off to some sort of special spot for dynamics testing and technical conversation. Nice deal, say I.
My guy Ernesto pulls up outside of the house and - lo and behold - it's a dang Mazda6 station wagon with the very most recent 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D motor good for 148 horsepower and healthy 280 pound-feet of torque. The wee four-banger with 14.0:1 compression ratio hauls this 3,260-pound wagon around with the best of them. A decent 0-to-60-mph time of 8.7 seconds, too.
Mazda ad showing Facebook updates while driving criticized by Senate committee [w/video]
Sat, 08 Feb 2014Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, held an all-day summit on Thursday to discuss the dangers of using modern technology while driving, during which an ad that Mazda aired during the Super Bowl was used as an example of the worrisome future towards which we're headed. While seemingly innocuous at first glance, the ad, which can be seen below, shows a brief glimpse of a driver using the Mazda Connect infotainment system in a Mazda3 to check/update his Facebook page while driving down the road.
Officials from major communications companies like Samsung, Google and Apple attended the summit, as well as representatives from automakers including General Motors and Toyota. A representative from Mazda was not present despite the company's own currently available technology being used as the poster child for the issues being discussed.
According to Automotive News, Senator Rockefeller warned the automaker and communication execs on hand that he will propose legislation to regulate the use of technology while driving if they don't work together to implement their own standards more quickly. Michael Robinson, GM's vice president of sustainability and global regulatory affairs, argued that his company has had distracted driving guidelines in place for 15 years since the advent of its OnStar system, noting that the technology in question has also helped the automaker save lives through automatic crash detection and calls to 911.
