Model Overview
This 2007 Mazda CX-9 crossover sport utility vehicle is powered by a 263-horsepower, 3.5L DOHC V6 engine with variable valve timing and an electronic throttle, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, and delivering the power through either front-wheel drive or the Active Torque-Split all-wheel drive system, which uses sensors and a computer-controlled coupling to bring up to 50 percent of drive power to the rear wheels for surefooted traction. The CX-9's interior packaging is designed to be very flexible. The second row is split 60/40, the seatback reclines, and it can slide forward about five inches fore and aft, or fold flat. The third row, which is split 50/50, can also be folded flat for an expanded cargo floor, and it includes a hand strap for easily folding it or setting it back up. Entry to the third row is easier than most vehicles because of the second-row's folding abilities.Though the CX-9 is designed primarily for on-road operation, a full perimeter frame adds toughness to its uni-body construction, making it suitable for towing boats or small trailers (up to 3,500 pounds), and a multi-link rear suspension brings more secure on-road ride and handling attributes than other SUVs.Several important safety features not offered by all the competition are standard on the CX-9, including dynamic stability control with roll stability control, a system that helps take minor corrective action to avoid loss of control on slippery roads or during abrupt maneuvers, anti-lock brakes with brakeforce distribution, and side-curtain air bags that extend to all three rows.Three different trim levels--Sports, Touring, and Grand Touring--are offered. Sports and Touring models get 18-inch wheels, while Grand Touring models ride on flashy, bright-finish 20-inch wheels with high-speed, V-rated tires. Standard equipment on Sports models includes keyless illuminated entry, cruise control, a three-zone automatic climate control system with rear-seat ducts, a six-speaker CD sound system, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. The Touring model upgrades to heated mirrors and leather first- and second-row seats with heated front seats, while the top-of-the-range Grand Touring adds fog lamps, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a Smart Card keyless entry/start system, and upgraded lighting and trim.Key options include a power-operated liftgate, a moonroof, a backup-camera system, a rear entertainment system package with a nine-inch screen, and a Bose Centerpoint surround sound system with eleven speakers.

The car is in perfect condition. Occasionally front windows and sunroof open automatically when driver door is slamed. This deffect can be eliminated by replacing the driver's door lock module.

Mazda on sales upswing in Europe but won't build there

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Auto sales in Europe have been a tricky proposition for some years, but Mazda has seen some success on the backs of the CX-5 and new Mazda6. According to a report form Automotive News Europe, though, that doesn't mean we should be looking for the Japanese manufacturer to set up production operations there.
Mazda's European CEO, Jeff Guyton, explained to AN that "Our intention is to have manufacturing scale. That gives you scale economy and quality through repeatability." In other words, a big honking plant in one part of the world is preferable to a half dozen small factories building the same vehicles.
European sales for Mazda are up 5.4 percent in the first half of 2013, with 74,000 units sold. That kicked the Zoom-Zoom brand's market share up from one to 1.2 percent. Small gains, but gains nonetheless. According to Guyton, Mazda would need to sell 200,000 units of just one model in Europe for local production to make sense. Mazda's best European year saw 320,000 units sold across the entire range.

2017 Mazda CX-9 packs turbo power, fresh style

Wed, Nov 18 2015

After nearly a decade of sales, Mazda finally introduces the second-generation CX-9 crossover. It delivers a comprehensive interior and exterior overhaul, blessing the CX-9 with a powerful, efficient Skyactiv powertrain, and instilling even more of the sporting character that makes Mazdas so darn charming. Like every other vehicle in Mazda's catalog, the CX-9 now wears the handsome, suave stylings of the company's Kodo design language. We think it looks great, but feel free to disagree in Comments. The second-generation CX-9 is the perfect example of Mazda's growing interior design prowess. As is so often the case, it's not so much the style but the choice of materials that stands out. Nappa leather can be paired with real Japanese rosewood and aluminum accents to craft a cabin that feels far more expensive than what you might expect from Mazda. The quality is impressive, even on the pre-pre-production prototypes we tested (drive impressions coming soon). The other headline, aside from the gorgeous interior, is the powertrain. The heart and soul of the operation is a new 2.5-liter, turbocharged Skyactiv engine. Although it only produces a modest 250 horsepower, that figure is complemented by a whopping 310 pound-feet of torque. Importantly, torque is easy to access in the lower part of the rev range, with peak twist coming in at just 2,000 rpm. It drops off rather suddenly north of 4,000 rpm, but as Mazda tells it, most consumers rarely venture above that figure. Mazda expects the CX-9's core market to be perfectly happy with the robust low-end output. A six-speed automatic is responsible for doling out that grunt, and is meant to play nicely with the same i-Activ predictive all-wheel-drive system found in the CX-5 (although the two cars don't share any AWD components). Using 22 different sensors, the system measures road conditions 200 times every second and will even send up to half the engine's power to the rear axle. The entire car, meanwhile, rides on the same Skyactiv architecture as the CX-5 and Mazda6, meaning a multi-link rear suspension has been paired with MacPherson struts up front. Eighteen-inch wheels will be standard, although 20s will also be on offer. You can expect to hear much more on just what the new CX-9 is like to drive next week. Until then, enjoy the official images from Mazda, and keep an eye open for live shots from the LA debut, headed your way soon.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata first engine shot revealed

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

We've dug deep for just about every scrap of 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata info available out of the car's California reveal celebration, but powertrain particulars have been especially hard to come by. While we still don't have engine specifications, the folks over at Autoweek have scored a nice scoop - the first underhood photos of one of the display cars.
In the image above, the ND-generation Miata is clearly shown to be powered by a Skyactiv inline four-cylinder, as expected, but its displacement remains unclear. The engine is most likely either the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine offered in low-end Mazda3 and CX-5 models or the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G found in those same vehicles' upper trims. In those iterations, the 2.0-liter generates 155 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque, while the larger-displacement engine nets out at 184 hp and 185 lb-ft. There is no sign of a turbocharger, a feature rumored to be fitted to at least one test mule. There has also been previous rumors of a 1.5-liter Skyactiv engine, possibly for overseas markets.
The 2.0-liter strikes us as the most likely scenario, particularly as Mazda has worked diligently to save every gram in the new car, dropping a pledged 100 kilograms (220 pounds) over the current model, even while adding content. It's entirely possible that the alleged turbo car was, in fact, a mule for the Miata's Alfa Romeo sister car, which is expected to have a wholly different powertrain. Or it could simply be a second engine option for an eventual Mazdaspeed variant, perhaps.
