Mazda Hot Lap Challenge will put simulator drivers in real Miatas
Mon, Apr 16 2018Using a video game as a feeder racing series is nothing new. Sony and Nissan have run the GT Academy for years now, rewarding the best Gran Turismo players with the chance to drive a real car. It seems Mazda wants a piece of the action. This year, it will host an iRacing Hot Lap Challenge, giving the best players a trip to the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona. The two fastest drivers will race head-to-head, with the winner earning a test drive in a Mazda MX-5 Miata Cup car. During 2018, Mazda will host events events at select races where participants can lap Daytona in an iRacing simulator. Those who can't attend one of those events will have the chance to compete on iRacing at home. At the end of the year, 35 drivers will compete for a trip to the 2019 race. That winner will be a guest of Mazda Team Joest. The event is open to U.S. residents age 18 and above. Full details can be found on the iRacing website. The event calendar is listed below. 2020 Mazda CX-30 shows off new appearance package at Tokyo Auto Salon
Fri, Jan 10 2020Following its introduction at the Geneva Motor Show last year, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 has appeared at the Tokyo Auto Salon wearing some new duds. The automaker developed a body kit for the compact crossover that's going on sale in Japan. The complete kit includes a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser panel, rear spoiler, wheels and mirror caps. The body kit is stylish and subtle. The silver accents help it stand out against the plastic body cladding of the stock CX-30. It also has some faux aluminum "skid plate" sections on the front and rear so that people still recognize it as a crossover, even though it looks lower and sportier. Although the kit has only been announced in Japan for now, we expect it will eventually be available in the U.S. just as the Mazda3 appearance package did. The complete kit is priced at $3,147 at current exchange rates, and it's discounted over the price if you were to buy each part individually. 2015 Mazda3 interior spied for the first time
Wed, 08 May 2013In terms of exterior appearance, not much has changed from the last time we spotted the next-generation Mazda3 out testing. Oh, sure - we can see plenty of details that clearly show the new Kodo design influence (that front end reminds us a whole lot of the sleek new Mazda6), but these latest round of spy shots don't really show us anything we haven't seen before. Oh, wait, yes they do - the interior.
Feast your eyes on the Mazda3's insides, showing a vastly reworked interior that also takes cues from the automaker's most recently refreshed products. We can see that there's a simple, clean center stack with a slim row of heating and cooling functions, and up top there's a large, presumably touchscreen display, with redundant controls found just aft of the shifter.
We expect that the 2015 Mazda3 will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, packing both petrol and diesel engines. A sedan variant is also in the works, and should debut shortly after the hatchback.
