Classic Collector's Mazda 626 on 2040-cars
Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States
Serious offers only. This is for a full car and will not be sold
off for parts. This is a one-of-a-kind classic. I'm only the car's
second owner and I have all of the paperwork sent to the original buyer
from the dealership it was purchased from. It has less than sixty one
thousand original miles on it, as verified by the Utah Department
of Motor Vehicle at the time I bought the car. In February of 2012, the
car was hit on the passenger's side by a woman doing 40 mph in a 10 mph
zone. There are only a few other minor dings here and there on the
body, in that there's only one other that's larger than a fifty cent
piece. The car also has a mustache on the hood that has been fixed with a
permanent adhesive of sorts, not sure what. The interior needs to be
replaced as the car sat out in the sun for many years and wasn't
protected from the elements. When I bought the car, it had been sitting
for at least four years, as the original owner had moved to a retirement
home and didn't think anything more about the car. There are three
things that I know for certain are wrong with the car. It has a blown
head gasket (from sitting for so long), it needs a new clutch/flywheel
assembly (it has a 5 speed transmission) and the muffler/exhaust pipe
are pretty much rusted away. The tires on it are still like new, even
though they're 8 years old. I've been told that this is truly a gem,
despite the repairs needed, and is worth a great deal to a collector.
While the repairs will run around $7000.00 (unless you can do them
yourself), I've been told by several restoration companies that it's
worth at least $10,000.00, even in it's current condition. I absolutely
love this little car and want it to go to someone that's going to spend
the time and money loving it back to the beautiful little treasure it
is. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING AND TRANSPORTATION COSTS TO HAVE THE CAR DELIVERED.

Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead
Mon, 16 Jun 2014It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.
Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.
Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.
2014 Mazda6 recalled due to fuel overfill fire risk
Fri, 02 May 2014Mazda is recalling 19,000 Mazda6 sedans from model year 2014, over concerns that the fuel tanks can be filled up too much. What is it with Mazda and fuel tanks?
The big concern is, obviously, spillage when filling up. There's also a risk that a radical temperature swing could cause the fuel volume to expand, causing a full tank to spill over without the driver knowing about it. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, if the fuel spills over, it could end up in something called the charcoal canister, which helps with the car's emissions. If it fills up the canister, it could leak out onto the road. None of this is really desirable.
The affected vehicles were all built between October 25, 2012 and May 9, 2013. It's unclear if there have been any fires due to this problem. Dealers should have been notified by now, while owners should begin receiving official recall notifications very soon.
Mazda reveals new 'Game Changers' advertising campaign
Tue, 30 Apr 2013Looking to highlight its unique and sporty mindset, Mazda is getting ready to launch its biggest advertising campaign since "Zoom-Zoom" became its tagline in 2000. The new campaign, entitled "Game Changers," will begin in May, and rather than focusing on its sporty past - like it did with Zoom-Zoom early on - the new ads will look at recent advancements made in building its future, including Skyactiv technologies and its new diesel race program, both of which involve its excellent new Mazda6 sedan.
As a part of the ads, Mazda will showcase game changers from the sporting world, including Dick Fosbury who changed how competitors perform the high jump and Laird Hamilton, who redefined how surfers attacked big waves. It doesn't sound like Zoom-Zoom is going away, but "Game Changers" will definitely feature heavily in the Japanese automaker's marketing moving forward. A few examples of the new ad campaign are posted in our gallery, and the press release is available below.
