Porsche 550 Style Alloy Body Vintage Racer. on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
Hello, this auction is
for a handmade vintage racer body and chassis only. Please read the full
description and photos, feel free to ask any questions.
This car is the best option for running some of the vintage races with the best ratio of fun to cost. I only sell what I make, that way you decide how much you want to spend on the engine, transmission, and other options. Delivery time is four months. The car will be custom built and fit for you, with several options available. Two place, or mono posto, that is also your choice. The car will be hand
built by myself, and my assistants in our small shop in Bogota, Colombia. I not
a parts salesman, I am a car builder, so I will not sell any of the parts required
to complete the car, but I will guide you to the right vendors. I will
also build a parts list with you. I want to make clear that although I won’t be
making any money off these parts, since you will be buying them directly, I
will work with you throughout the process. If you want me to assemble the car,
I can do it here or in the USA for you at an additional cost.
The car in the
photographs is my first prototype, the car you will be purchasing will be built
using our new buck, with a similar shape but better details. The new buck is
slightly more similar to the Porsche 550, but is still different enough not to
be a replica. Please see attached photos. This is a Porsche inspired car, not a
replica.
About the body:
The handmade body will be shaped out of 1.5mm aluminum, shaped using an English wheel and gas (oxy/acetylene) welded. The new car has a bonnet and opening rear. The aluminum seats are included, upholstered in leather on the color of your choice About the chassis:
The chassis is TIG
welded mild steel, in a shape similar to the Porsche RSK, but using a rear
suspension derived from the Formula Vee racers. This suspension has proven
itself during decades of racing and is lighter and stronger than the original
Porsche/VW. The chassis includes your choice of integral roll bar or
none.
What is included:
The alloy body, painted
or polished. with all necessary parts to be attached to the chassis. The
chassis, with all brackets and supports. The seats for the car. The stainless
steel fuel tank is also included in the price.
What is not included:
Rear shock, engine, transmission, wheels, steering wheel, pedals, front
suspension, brakes, steering box, and instruments. Everything else needed to
complete the car.
About the engine
options:
With the right vintage
engine and gearbox this car can race most of the vintage race events around the
world. Yes, it is not a four million dollar Porsche 550, but you will have just
as much fun driving it as the Porsche. Porsche 912 or VW engines and gearboxes
can be installed. You choose how much you want to spend. My opinion is that a
2000cc VW engine is the best option.
About delivery:
I will deliver the car
to you. That means I will take care of the transportation and import to the
USA. But It will be imported as parts. I am not a lawyer, so I will not
register the car for you, or assume any liability on its use as a
vehicle.
The car has been proven
at local events. You will have as much fun driving it as I have building them.
Please contact me for any additional info. |

V8-powered Maserati Levante spied nearly naked
Thu, Sep 14 2017I love fast SUVs. A big engine can do wonders to make a boring crossover exciting, even if they still handle like an overstuffed goldfish on wheels. That's why I'm really excited to see spy shots that show a V8-powered Maserati Levante in the flesh. Even before the Levante hit showrooms, Maserati admitted to us that a V8-powered prototype was already in existence. It seems that a full reveal is imminent. Visually, the prototype we see here only does with revised front and rear fascias. It's slightly more aggressive, but not that far removed from what's currently available. Still, we're more interested in what's under the hood. Maserati said the Quattroporte's Ferrari-assembled 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 fits in the Levante with no issues. That should be no surprise, as the two models share a basic platform. In the Quattroporte, the engine makes 523 horsepower and 479 pound feet of torque. Don't be surprised if things are cranked up in the Levante to compete with the 567 horsepower BMW X5 M and the all-new 550 horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Look for bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and more aggressive rubber. Typical performance modifications. While we don't know for sure, the V8 Levante is likely to wear the GTS badge, just like the top-dog Quattroporte. Unfortunately, the model ditches hydraulic steering for an electrically assisted unit. Still, it's sure to be a riot, at least in a straight line. FCA inline-six rumored to be real, headed for Jeep Wagoneer
Thu, Dec 20 2018In September, Allpar reported that that clues being dropped at Fiat- Chrysler headquarters, in the carmaker's factories, and on engineer resumes pointed to the development of an inline six-cylinder engine. The site has just proclaimed the rumor is reality, writing that the straight-six, "turbocharged to meet or beat 5.7 Hemi power ratings, with a smoother torque curve, is on the way." The motor's first outing is expected to be either the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, debuting perhaps next year, or the Jeep Wagoneer, debuting in 2020 or 2021. "Tornado" is the purported codename for the power plant said to be just under three liters in displacement, expanding the family begun with the Global Medium Engine 2.0-liter turbo codenamed Hurricane. Engine bay constraints and a long use horizon mean engineers won't simply add two more cylinders to the GME, however. Allpar says the brief is to keep the Tornado GME-T6 — the alphanumeric for "turbocharged six" — no more than three inches longer than the Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. That means "major design changes" that could include a space-saving head, more closely spaced cylinders, and no cylinder liners. An FCA division called Comau could be called on for its "SmartSpray" plasma lining technology. Allpar muses that the standard version of the engine for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram could get a single twin-scroll turbocharger. Performance trims for Alfa Romeo and Maserati could get different heads and maybe twin turbos, an SRT version might also get both those tweaks. History shows that the Italian versions would make changes to the block, as well. Even so, the Tornado would be less expensive than any Ferrari-supplied V6. A straight-six would put FCA in company with current adopters BMW and Mercedes-Benz, future users like Jaguar, and perhaps Aston Martin. The engine would span the widest range of use cases in the U.S. carmaker's portfolio, though. Potential applications include being a base engine for Ram trucks, serving double duty as a base engine and 5.7-liter Hemi replacement for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, working in the high-end Jeeps, and as a properly hot trim — with Ferrari-designed heads — in the luxury Italian sports cars. The Alfa Romeo Giulia begs for just such motivation to fill the gap between the 280-hp, $42,695 Ti Sport RWD and the 505-hp, $73,700 Giulia Quadrifoglio RWD. And a twin-turbo inline-six in a Maserati Alfieri would stack up nicely with the Germans.
Fiat Chrysler's next-generation Uconnect is faster, built on Android
Mon, Jan 27 2020If you're a regular reader of Autoblog, you know that for a long time we've liked Fiat Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system for its bright, clear, responsive touchscreen interface. Now, according to the company, it will be better than ever with Uconnect 5, the latest iteration of the system. It has upgraded hardware and a revamped graphic user interface (the stuff on the screen). Looking at sample screens shown above, there are characteristics shared with the old system, such as the time, status and shortcuts at the top and the menu icons at the bottom. In the middle, the major change is the addition of home screens that can be customized with favorite menus and readouts that are always available. Each of these home screens can have up to four functions and you can have five pages to flip through. The graphics themselves feature more legible fonts and updated icons. Each car brand will get its own set of icons, colors and textures to help create unique experiences. And while each Fiat Chrysler product will be able to have Uconnect, including Alfa Romeo that has until now lacked Uconnect, each brand has the ability to make small tweaks including the screen orientation. The system will support displays in landscape, portrait or square, so different brands may choose different shapes. Powering Uconnect 5 is a processor Fiat Chrysler says is six times more powerful than what's in current systems. It features 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal storage. The processor also supports screens as large as 12.3 inches with as many as 15 million pixels, or nearly twice that of a 4K resolution TV. The system can display information on up to four screens, too. Uconnect 5's firmware is built on Google's Android operating system, joining a few other automakers in using Android as a base for their infotainment systems. Uconnect 5 brings with it a number of new features. It brings full Alexa integration, so you can use it just like you do at home, provided you have a data plan for the car. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto continue to be standard, but now they can be used wirelessly. You can also now connect two phones via Bluetooth wirelessly so you can access content from both. Navigation gets real time information and updates from TomTom. Users can create five profiles with unique climate, radio and instrument settings, plus one for a valet.
