This is currently a tired old racing car that has suffered major crash damage following repairs done after at least one roll-over accident in the 1950's. I've wished to do the repairs on my own but have not made the time to do them in light of the fact that we have many other similar projects and some similar cars that we enjoy. This Siata requires chassis repairs that will include some re-construction at the front. I am prepared to do the chassis repairs during the next three months. The body requires that a portion of the nose be made new as the area in front of the centerline of the front suspension was cut off and discarded by 1961. A grille has to be made as well. Headlamps (partially Fiat 500) need to be acquired and a few parts made to fit them. The first photo shows the car when almost new with its first owner. Other photos show the car before some work that has been done already. The parts are part of the selection from which the car might be completed. There are many parts not shown and there are some parts shown that will be directed to other projects. The car will be delivered as complete a package as possible aside from the acknowledged parts that are missing. Fortunately, the windscreen was seemingly off the car during the car's roll-over and it is intact and in good shape, as are the top-bows for the tattered convertible top. Despite the above-stated mileage of 99,999 (an eBay requirement) the car has unknown mileage as there is no odometer. Many earlier versions of the 300BC never had an odometer! Engine supplied will be a Fiat 1100/103 of either 1089cc (as original) or 1221cc (later option from Fiat) and will newly made intake and exhaust manifolds. Sample photos will be supplied in case you wish to make it to appear as "original" as possible. The transmission is a Fiat 1100/103 "sport" version which has ratios that are virtually identical to those used most commonly by Siata in these cars. The front suspension has the correct Borrani hubs and the earlier Fiat 1100E derived brakes, as original. These parts were not part of the car as acquired and are probably not the original parts from this car. The brakes will need to be gone through. The rear end was not with the car when acquired and this has to be built up as Siata would have done. The majority of the parts to do that are included with the car but this is one area where a slight revision for strength may be logical. This will be discussed and the appropriate parts supplied as per your wishes. Four Borrani wheels are included for the road but the package is without a spare. The chassis repairs required will be completed before delivery, slated for end of March (2014) or at another time to be agreed upon. Body repairs are optional at added cost. Again, mechanical options are to be agreed upon after consultation but a complete mechanical package will be supplied. Price is considered to be $150,000 for the repaired chassis, rolling on its wheels. Reserve price is set at $140,000 as I have a near offer already. Since a very incomplete body without identity is currently selling on eBay for something "north" of $90,000, it seems time to part with this project that has been in the family since about 1965. We have two very nice similar (albeit unique) examples already and this alone allows me to consider selling this project. If you wish for the body to be repaired and be essentially ready for primer and paint, then the price will climb to the buy-it-now price of $180,000 ... with additional work remaining to be done elsewhere on the car. In order to own this car in a rolling state (after a bit of a wait for the work to be completed), you need only be the first to make a bid of $175,000. Spend some time with one and you'll learn to dance on the edge of control with a smile on your face. These 1100 powered cars have some real "grunt" when compared to the 750cc version and this allows some white-knuckle enjoyment for a passenger that is not so easy to experience in the Crosley-powered version.

2022 Maserati Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte get new trim levels
Wed, Jun 30 2021Maserati's three-car lineup soldiers into 2022 with some new trim levels for the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans and the Levante crossover SUV. Say arrivederci to the GranLusso and GranSport nameplates and buongiorno to the new GT and Modena monikers. They join the Trofeo, which arrived last year as the top-of-the-line variant for sedans after having been introduced on the Levante in 2018. In the Ghibli, the GT is powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 making 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It also gets 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome accents outside, with leather "comfort" seats and Dark Mirror trim inside. The Ghibli Modena features a 424-horsepower version of the V6 engine with 428 lb-ft. Restyled bumpers with black inserts and 20-inch wheels complete the look outside, while the interior boasts "wraparound" leather seats. The top-drawer Ghibli Trofeo returns with its Ferrari-built 580-horsepower twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 with 538 lb-ft of torque (top speed: 203 miles per hour). The Ghibli Trofeo is also denoted by its carbon-fiber exterior trim, 21-inch wheels and red brake calipers. The Quattroporte GT uses the same 345-hp twin-turbo V6 as the Ghibli GT. The bigger sedan does upgrade to 19-inch wheels outside and what Maserati refers to as "radica" trim inside. In the Quattroporte also, the Modena again uses the 424-hp V6, rolls on 20-inch wheels and is dressed up inside with piano black accents. The Quattroporte Trofeo also rocks the 580-horse twin-turbo V8, carbon-fiber exterior, 21-inch wheels and red brake calipers. The Levante GT again uses the 345-hp V6 but deviates from the sedans with its 19-inch wheels and piano black interior accents. The Levante Modena gets the 424-hp V6, but a Levante-exclusive Modena S model swaps in a 550-hp version of the turbocharged V8. The Levante Modena S also has black exterior elements (the Nerrissimo Pack) and red calipers. The Levante Trofeo gets the full 580-horse version of the V8, again with carbon-fiber exterior trim and 21-inch wheels (with 22-inch available). Maserati looking to book 13,000 sales of new Quattroporte in 2013
Mon, 10 Dec 2012Europe's continuing financial woe is forcing automakers to get creative, and while Fiat may be scaling back its volume vehicles, it's looking to ramp up production of the exclusive Maserati brand. Following the debut of a new Quattroporte sedan, Fiat wants to boost Maserati sales to 50,000 vehicles by 2015. Maserati may lose as much as €7 million ($9.05 million) this year, and Fiat is betting big on Chrysler platforms and dealers to turn that around.
Currently regarded as a low-volume boutique carmaker, Maserati sold just 6,159 units last year, and 4,700 units through three quarters of this year. For 2013, Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne is targeting 13,000 in sales of the redesigned Quattroporte alone. Fiat apparently wants the brand's low volume image to change, hoping to position it closer to BMW and Porsche in the market.
The recent unveiling of the new Quattroporte will be followed by more new vehicle launches, including a crossover utility called Levante, and a long-promised sub-Quattroporte sedan, called Ghibli. The latter will share certain components with the Chrysler 300 sedan in an effort to optimize production costs. The Ghibli will be positioned to take on the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It's all in an effort to turn the profit tide for Maserati and its parent company Fiat amidst European economic turmoil.
2017 Maserati Quattroporte gets updated styling, equipment
Tue, Jun 14 2016Maserati revealed a series of updates to the Quattroporte, the most obvious of which is revised styling inspired by the Alfieri coupe concept. The overall shape remains the same, but there's a new grille and front bumper, matte black trim, and an active aero element similar to the air shutter on the Levante crossover that helps cut drag by 10 percent. The Modenese automaker also took the opportunity to update the interior, principally integrating a new 8.4-inch multi-touch dashboard display to replace the old 7-inch unit. Manipulated by a new rotary multimedia controller, the system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. A new driver assistance package available as an option, encompassing adaptive cruise control, lane-departure and forward-collision warning systems, and automatic emergency braking. There are two new trim packages as well – dubbed GranLusso and GranSport – that can be optioned on the Quattroporte S and S Q4 or chosen between on the GTS model. Under the hood, both engines carry over unchanged. Standard power still comes courtesy of a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 good for 404 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either the rear wheels or all four. The GTS packs a bigger 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, still rated at 523 hp and 524 lb-ft. 0-60 times as a result remain unchanged at 4.9 seconds for the Quattroporte S, 4.8 for the all-wheel-drive Quattroporte S Q4, and 4.6 for the Quattroporte GTS. US pricing will be announced "in the coming weeks," we're told, however Maserati will begin delivering the revised Quattroporte already this month. The relevant question is whether these changes can help Maserati take a bigger slice of the fullsize luxury sedan market away from rivals like the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes S-Class. Maserati sold fewer models across its entire range in the United States last year than Mercedes did of the S-Class family, making the Quattroporte something of a footnote in this elite segment. If what we're looking at here represents a mid-cycle refresh of the model introduced in 2013, it will likely be 2019 before FCA's most upscale brand replaces its flagship sedan altogether.
