Maserati Granturismo Convertible Sport on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
The beauty of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport strikes the heart. Aggressive lines, embellished by subtle details, impart this convertible with a powerful and sporting character. It is a natural evolution, in true Maserati tradition, of the marque’s first open-top four-seater—the remarkable GranTurismo Convertible. The design of the front end of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport features two sinuous air intakes that run from the central spoiler toward the aggressive front headlight assembly, featuring LED Daytime Running Lights. The famous Maserati radiator grille has black vertical fillets, while the usual Trident at the center sports red details, a finishing touch used only on the most powerful models in the Maserati range. The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport is designed with elegant and effective lower rocker panels—sideskirts—that feature a more pronounced shape to emphasize its dynamic profile. As well as their stylistic role, these additions play an important role in aerodynamic efficiency. Combined with the sinuous shape of the fenders, they ensure optimal airflow toward the rear wheels, an example of form serving function. The front seats of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport have an electric lumbar support adjustment system and can be equipped with comfort package, which includes seat-position memory and heating with three temperature settings. The embroidered Trident logo on the headrests reminds one that fine craftsmanship is the hallmark of every Maserati automobile. Two individual rear seats, contoured like those at the front, provide rear seat legroom that is the most spacious in its class in a luxurious and comfortable environment. |

2018 Maserati Ghibli gets new lights and grille
Tue, Mar 14 2017It's been nearly four years since Maserati introduced the 2014 Ghibli, and it's soldiered on largely unchanged. Finally, Maserati is prepping a respectable facelift front and rear. The changes seem to be concentrated on headlights and grilles. The lights now appear to have a chrome or aluminum highlight that curves upward, dividing the LED running lights from the rest of the lighting. This is a distinct difference from the current highlight that curves downward. Also, the grille now looks to have a more rounded shape, closer to the oval grilles of early- and mid-2000s Maseratis. The lower grille also seems to have smaller inlets at each corner. At the back, the rear bumper has clearly been reworked. Unfortunately, the giant black diaper covering it reveals absolutely nothing. Aside from these changes, the rest of the new Ghibli looks the same. Because this is clearly a mid-cycle refresh, we expect to see the car fully revealed by the end of the year, with vehicles hitting the lots early next year. Related Video:
Maserati orders triple on strength of Quattroporte demand in China
Fri, 30 Aug 2013Considering Maserati sold all of 6,300 cars globally in 2012, its goal of selling 50,000 by 2015 seemed like a bit of a stretch to say the least, but it turns the Fiat-owned automaker was on to something. Reuters is reporting that Maserati has already received about 17,000 orders for cars this year, with help from the new 2014 Quattroporte and strong demand in China.
The US continues to be the top market for Maserati sales, but the report quotes Harald Wester, brand chief executive, as saying that China is now the top market for Quattroporte. As big of an improvement as this is it bears mentioning that the Ghibli isn't even on sale yet and the Levante SUV, a redesigned GranTurismo and a new 911-fighting coupe are still waiting in the pipeline.
Maserati Ghibli pricing announced for UK
Tue, 16 Jul 2013Maserati's newest car, Ghibli, is a stunningly well-proportioned luxury sedan mixing the styling of the larger Quattroporte sedan and the GranTurismo coupe. We found it plenty good to in our First Drive review, and now we know how much it will cost (in the UK, at least).
Ghibli pricing announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is for customers in the UK, but based on current exchange rates and prices of other Maseratis sold here in the US, we can estimate its MSRP for our market. The base Ghibli, with a twin-turbocharged V6 making 325 horsepower, will cost 52,275 pounds for the Bits, making $75,000 a good guess for American buyers. If that number holds true, however, the Ghibli would be in a price category above its main competition from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Take a step up to the Ghibli S, sporting a naturally aspirated V8 producing 404 hp, and you'll have to fork out 63,415 pounds or an estimated $91,000 here.
Just for kicks, the Europe-only Ghibli Diesel, which makes 270 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque with its diesel V6, is the least-expensive Maserati 48,830 pounds. Running an estimated $70k for us, we'd really like to have that one, too. After all, the sparkplug-less engine is the same one found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel.
